Cool man! When I was a kid we had freight trains traveling from one end of the Island to the other. They've been decommissioned for a long time now and all of those train tracks have been removed and turned into walking / biking trails called rails to trails! This video reminds me of that. Great area to disconnect from the world, and take a walk!😊

Hi Cal and MIA Cat! Yes, I can hear the pickups own personalities a little more with this Belcat Blues Drive than the other OD(s). This is a nice light OD/Boost. Have you tried running the pedals direct into your audio interface / Audacity and skip the mike? The room and mic wash out a lot of what subtler frequencies would be more apparent in a direct interface. It's what I do, direct through a Behringer UMC202HD into Audacity and get some great sounds from various pickups all different than one another. Well it's pedals through an amp modeler (POD Express or Quilter Superblock UK) then the interface, not just the pedals.

Again very similar! That red guitar is more mid strong but still very close... You know more so than the guitar or the pickups, it's the player that makes the guitar sound how it sounds... Playing style, pick type, pick attack, amp settings, effect pedals etc... Van Halen used many, many different guitars over the years, but in his hands, they all sounded the same! Hahaha

Hi Cal and Sleepy Cat! All through this demo I was waiting for the horn section to come in, but Rocko was sleeping and missed his cue. Pretty close comparison by my ears I thought I could hear slight differences with the Godin and JM. Many ODs seem to dominate any pickup nuances so we get our various guitars sounding like a KLON or a Tubescreamer. Which is fine because they rock! But I've been playing with a BOSS Blues Driver (finally in old age, what took me so long) and it seems to preserve the pickup personalities better than other ODs across the P90, Strat single and Gibson firebird/dual rail minis I use these days. Assuming I don't max it out.

Hi Cal and Rocko! Got to hand it to you for making them all sound pretty close when the pups are fairly different, potentially. Is that "your favourite tone" these days?

Hi Cal, I think for the most part when we start using amp modelers and add a bit of gain then the sound we hear is just as much created by the tech involved as the guitar Probably the reason why amp modellers have become so popular is these days we talk about a Marshall sound or a Mesa Boogie sound (the list goes on) and with a bit of gain any decent guitar will sound good and create the sound of that amp. A channel I always enjoy is "Foxy's Guitar Show". He's a real Gibson man and when he demos a guitar he never bothers to demo a coil split when the gain is cranked up because it all sounds the same. But when you're playing clean the character of the guitar shines through. At the end of the day there's far more to a guitar than just what it sounds like. It needs to feel right in your hands and inspire you to want to play it and no gadget can do that for you.

Hi Cal! 2016 60s CV sounds good and looks good, nice find! Like your blues lesson too. I'm waiting for a budget adjustment to get the 'Blues Bible' myself, a bit overextended lately. Blues is all I play anyway these days so it'll be useful for learning things I don't generally play.

Sounds good buddy. Smooth playing too! Great guitars. The HB sounds like it has way hotter pups. HB was on the verge of break up whereas the fender was super clean... through my speakers anyway hahaha! Very nice guitars man!

Hi Cal, your new Strat sounds and looks wonderful. When it comes to specs it's usually the price that is the first thing I look at. I think you've found yourself a guitar that really suits you. Sometimes you can pick up a guitar that just seems to inspire you to play and that's something you can't measure. You've got yourself a keeper here.

Hi Cal, you did well to walk away. I'm usually a bit weary of pawn shop guitars. I tend to think "Why didn't the previous owner just put it on Ebay?" I think if you bought a guitar in that condition on line you'd probably return it so that's why it ended up being in a pawn shop.

Good decision man! Unlevel frets are one thing, but that problem could have been a warped fret board or neck! I would of walked away too! The search continues!

Hi Cal, your guitar sounds wonderful, I don't think there's anything else on the market for the money that can beat a Cube Baby. Even if you have an expensive top of the range multi effects then you still need one of these in your guitar case. Back in my gigging days the Zoom 4040 that I used at the time decided to break down during a gig once. If the Cube Baby had been around I could have had a fantastic back up. There's no reason why the Cube Baby can't be a a first choice for gigging.

Hi Cal, that's another nice guitar that must be a shame to say goodbye to. I'm sure who ever gets it will love it. Back in my early 20s I was a Tele person through and through. I'm afraid to pick up a good Tele these days. I've got my heart set on getting a Les Paul and playing a nice Tele might change my mind!

Hi Cal, our local vicar recently had his bicycle stolen. He decided his sermon next Sunday would be "The 10 commandments'" When he got to "Thou shalt not steal" he'd look into the congregation and see who looked guilty and know who had taken his bike. He got as far as "Thou shalt not commit adultery" then remembered where he'd left it! :)
