I could be the best at this...
The fishing has been inconsistent for me over the last few months. Thought it would be fun to share what I've been going through...

Freshwater vs Saltwater Kayak Fishing

Z-Man ZWG hook flaw, with a fix

The Breakofffs, maybe The Heartbreaks is a better fit
However you want to word it...still sucks losing a fish.
Really enjoying your channel dude! I’ve been fishing all over the space coast the last 9 years. My main ride is a J12 skiff but just got a Hobie Passport. I’ve been exploring stuff I haven’t fished in years since selling my last kayak. Feels good seeing combat fishing (even when it goes south!).
Thanks Mike, I appreciate you taking the time to watch. That's the one tough thing about kayaking fishing around structure, my chances of pulling out a big fish go way down, especially in deeper water, since I can't use my stake out pole.
Tie another one on. Onward.
Looks like a couple of super fun days on the water! Big thumbs up for collecting other folk's trash.
It's sad to see but I try to pick up as much as I can when I'm out.
Stunk is always better than a skunk! 😉
Ha, seem to be testing that a lot lately.
Great Video. Used to be able to drive all the way around back there. It sucks you can't anymore. I wish my kayak was light enough to get in there.
I've seen some boats back in some skinny water. You time the tide right I think you could be ok.
Love the drone shot! Gotta go make me a sandwich.😂
Thanks Randy!
Wow... What a great fishing spot my friend, I always get wild fish striking him and running here and there trying to get his fishing rod off. It's great that the fish you catch are always released again 🤙
Catch and release is like the bible to me.
@@United_By_Water Great... Good job my boss, he really has his own pride in being involved in the world of fishing. Greetings, my friend's fishing hobby 🤝🎣🔥
I’ve caught some nice snook on those hooks and have had some good fish on them and I haven’t had that issue with them at all yet. If I don’t use those then I use the snake lockz. I used to use mustad grippins but being in salt water they rust after one use even if I rinse them down. I call them rustads now lol
I'm not sure what happened with the one that broke on me. I don't recall hitting a dock or anything like that. I did contact Zman and the actually sent me a replacement pack (pretty cool). I do have the Texas Eye jigheads which are kinda similar to the Snake Lockz. My only compliant is the weight flops around when you're trying to make long casts. Maybe it's me but I can't seem to cast as far with them.
@@United_By_Water could of been a flaw in that hook. The review of it was good though. I like non sponsored reviews
Halo sobat.. Keren sekali acara memancingnya semoga harimu menyenagkan ❤👍👍👍 10:47
Great video. I saw those Hueys flying in around the area in May. I think it was for the portable Vietnam wall in Melbourne.
Think that's the first time I have come across them, pretty cool to see.
Fun video, Andy. It's been a while!
Blessed love yumi you made my day it was all smiles watching you for the first time
Can you do this with nots in bait casters?
I would think so, a knot is a knot...but a birds nest would be a different story.
@@United_By_Water thanks
Can’t you just launch your kayak straight from peacocks pocket?
Yes that's what I did. You can launch into the river or the compound from PP.
They straight up sniping out there!
Been crapped on more than I would like to admit 🦅
Atleast 2lb
She was over 2.1lbs!
Nice.. catch and release…👍
Thanks 👊
OMG is
Bass fishing has become so technology driven that imagine if you just went out and fished without any of it?? Go back to your roots.
Super glue
Super glue is tried and true. Still not a big fan of these hooks. Been putting some casts behind them and IMHO, I prefer the Mustad Grip Pins.
@@United_By_Water I do wish they would put the keeper on there like their other weedless hooks but I do like the bait stop on there so your bait stays rigged when skipping docks and stuff
Great video bud. You ever try Golden Monkey made by Victory? Tight lines 🎣
Yeah, that beer has got some high alcohol content. Couple of those and I would be in the spirit world. Thanks for watching 👊
Looks like the paddle was worth it!
I guess, that paddle is pretty far and if the wind unexpectedly changes on you and you got to fight it on the way back.....not fun. I had so many chances at fish, should have caught way more than I did....next time I hope.
2 beers is just right. Relaxed, tension gone & pain free . Got you fishing in 🎆The Hazy Zone🎆
You got that right 🍺 👊
Those sail cats are good eating.
I don't think I've ever had catfish but I will take your word for it. I've caught some mighty big ones in the past.
@@United_By_Water I never ate the regular saltwater cats but sail cats are very good.
I know it totally sucks..but also I think you were in the restricted zone..total BS
There's restricted zones now? Heard little bit by little bit the UN wants to slowly phase out recreational fishing by a certain date.
@@rogerclaiborne6815 just google no motor zone and you will find a map..looks official ?
No signs are posted but if you go farther north, they have buoy signs that say "no entry" for a certain area, that's it. Lots of signs on the shoreline say "restricted area, no trespassing" but that's regarding to the land only (not water). I also saw another kayaker floating around as well. This is the only map I've been able to find that outlines the area to stay out of (scroll down about halfway through his page). www.kayakingksc.com/No-Motor-Zone.html I would think Top Spot maps would have it marked but I don't have one for that area. Maybe Navtronics or some Chartplotters have something marked?
Nice beer selection. Have you tried Big Nose and Stump Knocker? They're by Swamphead Brewery.
@rogerclaiborne6815 I hope your being sarcastic.
That 1st creek you fished, one of my favorite starts for that area. I only really fish that late fall through early spring. It's a good start for some of my routes. Instead of the bridge, just go down 1/4 and launch at John Btown. Yo you should know by now, Yankeetown can be a bear at low tide, especially if you launch at Allen Park. That cut where you caught that 1st Red, the outside of that bar is good too. That drone shot.... the cove in the center...to the left - that oyster bar, oh yeah 😉 Glad you figured out, in time that island was private. That damage was from Idalia. Took off the top off the observation deck.
The three times I've fished YT, two of those trips were at low tide. Kinda figured it was going to be tough but I wanted to fish a new spot regardless of the tide. It gave me a good idea of how all the oysters beds are layed out. You ever fish the area where the JB ramp is? I fished it twice, never had any real luck. Tide seems to have less push on that side of the bridge? Thanks for the tips!
@@United_By_Water Yeah, that Yankeetown video you did some time back when you were at the negative tide….Been there. I just fished JB the other day. I have one more video to edit before that one gets posted. Usually I paddle out to the right and then fish west of the St. Martins. I’ve only tried right around JB once or twice, not much luck, but I didn’t fish it hard.
Shrimp are your best friend out there at Yankee town
@@listen2dylan788 I hear that, everything eats a shrimp. Didn't have any luck when I did use it on this trip (more of an artificial guy).
Looks like snook heaven. Nice work on the video. Just subscribed to the channel for future vids. Good luck and tight lines.
Thanks man, I appreciate it 👊
I’d like to see ya grow Zman frog across those Lilly pads great videos !
I actually have that lure, yet to catch anything with it. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, I appreciate it!
@@United_By_Water snook and reds eat it also
Bro I want to come out on a trip with you and just enjoy those mornings right there
Lets do it 🎣
It’s hard for social media guys to fish without a camera. They rather go home sit on the couch if they forget there camera . 20 years ago we all fished because we loved to fish, camera or not we going. Things have definitely changed
I hear ya, I fish because I love to fish and I want to share my experiences with others that have the same passion I do, whether I have a camera or not. Heck, a couple weeks ago I fished two days straight in the pouring rain a loved every minute of it. You would be very surprised how many times I don't bring the camera.
Hard not to just stop there and catch ‘em all day, size be damned. Looks like you had fun. Hey, I’m with ya on the picture frame thing, we did the same for my mom she absolutely loves it, all her kids and grandkids share photos on it. They’re a great idea.
Yeah, those little guys were stacked up pretty good. Went back the next week, all I got was a crap ton of lady fish. I agree with you on the digital picture frame, my mom really seems to be enjoying it!
Looks like you use a swivel, or maybe a clip/snap from line to lure rather than a loop knot. I had used clips years ago but slowly just went to direct knots as the clips were lost or rusted. Can’t say one way or the other if it affected the bite or lure presentation. Did affect weight though. Doesn’t look like it gives you problems.
I was using Norton's Quick Twist Swivels. The big benefits; I can quickly change lures, which has often increased my catch percentage throwing the right lure, second, I don't burn through a lot of leader having to retie often. Right now I've ditched the swivels and use a loop knot or improved clinch knot.
@@United_By_Water Being able to quickly change lures saves you from buying an extra rod/reel just to have a different lie tied on. 🤣
You have to bury the bend inside the plastic. Otherwise if the bend is exposed, it's not weedless.
I don't have any problems with being/getting it weedless, it's the nose pin that doesn't hold the bait very well (even when it's not broken). Just my personal experience with them after a couple weeks of use.
Hey man I really like watching your videos..esp. the way you keep your spots under wraps, unlike so many others who are giving away good spots just to get views and likes that are so hard to come by now a days...thx
Thanks Bob. The good thing about being in a kayak is I can get in those backcountry spots that don't identify where I'm at. I know some of my videos it's pretty obvious on where I'm at but Florida doesn't have a lot of non-pressured spots left. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Guess what you're going to get on Valentine's Day... A brand new set of TREE PRUNERS. Just for occasions like this.
I've tried to respond to this three times and it never posts...but yeah a mini chainsaw would have been nice to have.
Love the videos especially when you show the lure your using , but could ya put the date of fishing ? Also bring the small anchor with rope to drop over when it’s like that The stick anchor is good but when battling a brute like that it’s nice to just drop it over quickly
I have an actual anchor but hardly ever use because rarely I'm in water that's 4' or more. I should have used the stake out pole, thought I had the fish under control, that went sideways pretty quick. I can put the date in the description for ya, thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm thinking that someone was hanging those lures on that mangrove as ornaments getting ready for Christmas
I was fishing inside a compound and to get back out I had to portage over the levee wall. There were two pedestrian spots open for people to fish from and that tree was right in the line of fire.
See your are still kicking ass in that kayak! Great video buddy.
Lately it's been the complete opposite of kicking ass. Struggling really hard to catch quality fish. Hope to get a video up in the next couple days of "the struggle".
Glad to see you are still out there, making it happen for all us sinners.😁 Kayak fishing Crystal River in a couple days. Keep it going brother!
I haven't been over there in a while, let me know how you do.
Hollow belly's had it for years 10mm glass bearing system. We used 125mm white for barra when the first hollow belly hit the market.
Hello sir , I am so impress to your you tube video. your video category is very nice. do you increase the popularity of your channel? then I can help you with this meter. and there are also many problems with your channel that I can help you solve. if you find me qualified for this job, please give me a chance. I am a digital marketer. The remuneration for my work is very limited and I do the first 2 or 3 videos for free as a test. So you can think of me alone . Thank u.
I have my favorite goto spots also when on the water. I catch a lot of stripers & they can fool you concerning their size. Were those snook you were catching?
Yeah couple small trout to start with and a few small snook. I'm originally from VA (NOVA), did a lot of bass fishing while I lived there but never really got to fish the Chesapeake all that much, wish I did!
Relaxing kayak fishing trip! Thanks… High Noon
Would have been better catching more fish but thanks for watching HN 👊
No videos from your time in Crystal River?
Unfortunately no. I fished 4 days straight and the first 3 days were terrible. It's so hard to put a video together when the bite is almost nonexistent. Hoping to get out this weekend on the Indian or Banana River.
Don't worry about that little stuff if you can see the bait working the fish can to
True!
One of the quiet places to fish. Folks don't often make the trip down to the end. There is the gate and the need for a cart. Glad your luck had improved over the previous days.
Loved the area but my entire four days of fishing was a struggle fest!
@United_By_Water just fished there last week, I'm working on the video now. It was tough, and I lost a lot of fish. My buddy lost a bunch as well, but at least he landed some. Haven't had a tough day like that in ages. Going to fish low tide Yankeetown tomorrow, north of the barge canal.
I'm sure with the hurricane that came through got them all out of sorts.@@naturecoastinshorefishing4397
Turned away for a second, that's all it took and the fact that I found this lure in a tree a few weeks ago was an added bonus.
Yes it does happen when least expected. I’m a beginner when it comes to fishing only caught two so far but it’s exhilarating when you feel that tug on the line
The best feeling in the world...IMHO
The first time i went there I saw a good amount of tarpon rolling in there
I think I saw a few rolling when I was driving down the road on the way in.
Still need to make time to fish the Barge Canal. Also did not know that about the original intent was of it. Great to know. Thanks for sharing
I hear lots of good things about the area, check it out when you get a chance and make sure you check the wind/tide before you go.
