Crumpets are really nice. You toast them and put Butter on them and it soakes in. Yummy. Also M and S is expensive. Other cheaper supermarkets also have quality foods, But cheaper.

Do you not think it would have been better to inform yourself on these products before making this video? A number of them are traditional bakery products that originated hundreds of years ago. Like our muffins, which I can tell you bear absolutely no relation to the ghastlyThomas's offerings so named in the U.S.

Soda Farl is Irish you can toast it with lashing of butter and jam you call it jelly or you could put on avocado and a poached egg. Or you could shallow fry it and have fried eggs on it with bacon.

Many American TH-cam content creators always seem to be puzzled about everyday items found on British supermarket shelves and not quite sure how to pronounce the names of items. They act as if the English spoken in Britain is something of a foreign language to them. 😂

Welshman here, living on the other side of the world these days lol. Welshcakes are very dense, flat and rich pancakes with the odd raison thrown in for juiciness lol. M&S are the 'Top-End' of retailers, classy but very expensive lol. Do take the time out to nip down to my homeland, if you get the chance, especially in high summer: I come from Swansea (actually, The Mumbles, which is just outside the city) I promise you, you will be blown away by the beauty of Swansea Bay! Head to Verdi's Cafe, built on the Promenade at Mumbles, not far from the Pier, for a view across the bay that has been compared to the Bay of Naples! Cheers from Brunei!

Marks and Spencers food is no better than Aldi's or Lidl's but far more expensive. Their selling model is that if you overprice something customers with money to spare will think it's better quality when it's not.

No idea where these unpleasant people in the comments came from. I apologise if any of them actually are English. We're not all like that but that's TH-cam for you. Anyway, - the teacakes are bready type buns, they are sweet and the dark things are currants and sometimes other dried fruits not chocolate chips. They have mixed spice in them too. We traditionally toast them and have them with butter and you can put jam on them too. - I've never had spiced fruit buns but they look similar to teacakes but with icing on top so you couldn't toast them. - never heard of Yumyums, must be a M&S invention. - Welsh cakes are hard to describe. You'll just have to try them. They are like a sweet pastry but not flaky and again with dried fried and mixed spice in them. They are denser than fruitcakes - hot cross buns are traditional Easter buns but people eat them all year round. They are quite similar to teacakes but they are smaller, denser and have a bit more spice in them than teacakes. - farls are soda flat breads traditional to Scotland and Ireland. Marks and Spencer food is known for being very nice but it's quite expensive especially in London.

People need to chill out in the comments..there was a lot to take in so moving between product was a bit fast..don't worry M&S employs enough staff to tidy them up..😂 M&S source every thing themselves pick the best of Scotland, England Wales and Ireland gets them shipped all over the country under the M&S brand..it was soda bread you picked up which is an Irish form of bread were soda is used as the raising agent and a hot plate the cooking source rather than an oven..a hope this helped and that you enjoyed your trip.🌹

Don't worry yourself too much over any negative comments you may get over this video . . . Yes, it's true that items are usually well placed and look neat by the stackers after it closes. However, go in any supermarket, no matter which one late evening or at night before closing, and you'll find things that were picked up earlier ending up elsewhere in the store when they change their minds to something else instead . . . I've seen a tub of strawberries (or other non-frozen items) just left in freezers - and kids toys or fridge items in with some fruit and veg. Sweets though (candies), you can find left in a lot of places, too. As kids may pick anything up, open it to try them, and then dump it if they don't like it. Whereas if the mother, father, parents, or whoever is with them see it, instead of buying what they've opened, will stick it up on a high shelf just to hide it to save paying for it . . . As for any cakes, buns, loaves/bread, etc - Americans don't usually like them while in Europe as they're usually not sweet enough taste-wise for them - (But, are far healthier though!) - typically because we either use a sugar type substitute if required, or none.in them. Cakes and buns can be different though because of any kind of icing used on them, which makes them taste quite sweet, to us anyway . . . Pleased to hear that you went back to place them correctly again, which is also more than some will bother to do as I said earlier . . .

Americans often think crumpets are English muffins but they're very different. I'm on keto due to inflammation and the thing I miss most is toasted crumpets with butter and marmite! 😋

British supermarkets are x100 times better than the usa ,better selection ,a lot more healthier items and way better prices on fruit, vegetables , etc

Great video but here’s a tip - ore people will watch it if you turn the phone side ways and film in landscape - you filmed it in portrait mode - when the phone is in landscape / camera is held in landscape more people watch the videos and you see more of the place. Ballyrashane (Coleraine ) buttermilk in the soda falls

I have just stopped the video at3.30 when you were looking at the Soda farls, they are very much an Northern Ireland thing, I spent 40 years working in a bakery making them. To have the proper Soda Farl experience, get your Soda Farl, slice it in two, put a fried egg on one of the halves, two slices of fried bacon and some HP sauce, Put the two halves together and eat along with a cup of proper Tea, life does not not get any better than that. That will set you for a few hours work on a building site but no bloddy baked beans.

Marks & Spencers is one of the most expensive major supermarkets, with only Waitrose more expensive. I lived and worked in the USA in the 2000s. US supermarkets were much cheaper than the UK, even Whole Foods Market. were cheaper. Marks & Spencers are unusual because almost everything is their own brand. Typical UK supermarkets sell fewer own brands. Marks & Spencers also pioneered food and clothing. They were responsible for the concept of 'chilled ready-to-cook meals', and perfecting the essential 'cold chain'. IIRC, they were the first UK supermarket with part-baked continental breads like ciabatta. They even perfected 'non-iron' cotton shirts in-house. If you ever return, maybe pick a couple of things and try them? It seems weird watching someone find half a dozen novel, ready-to-eat 'baked goods' and not try anything. Crumpets _must_ be toasted, and I always toast English Muffins, also I'd toast farl, Welsh cakes, and pancakes to warm them up. I'd eat fresh hot-cross-buns, tea-cakes, and spiced fruit buns cold. A couple of days later, I'd toast them. I'm fond of fresh spiced & fruited breads/buns with cheese, but that might be unusual. Anything with icing are eaten cold. If you stay in Airbnb you'd have no problems toasting things. If you're in a hotel with 'public toasters' you might ask if you could try toasting 'unfamiliar UK baked goods' before buying anything. It's a bit of a shame you didn't tack on a few seconds saying you'll go back and straighten the shelves because it was awkward to handle the packets and record video. That might have endeared you to viewers. American's don't have a great reputation in the UK, or much of Europe. So sadly, you maybe were too readily misjudged. You might even consider shooting something saying that's what you did (against a neutral room background) and adding it to the end of this video to reduce negative comments, and save yourself time, effort and stress, responding to negativity. I skimmed your channel, and you have Thai food connections. I've only visited about a dozen countries (USA [about 17 states], Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, France, Estonia, Gibraltar, Belgium, Norway, India, Thailand, Australia, South Africa, Singapore). I was fortunate to visit Thailand most months for more than a year. In my limited experience, Thai food is the best in the world. My simile is "like going from black & white to colour". You're lucky having such a glorious food heritage. Best Wishes. ☮

I learned something from your video, so thank you. As a 70 ish English woman I had to look up what a Farl was!! I'm glad you like the produce. Did you get to taste anything? Some of those baked goods need to be toasted or heat up to appreciate. I saw an American trying to eat an untoasted crumpet once. This item is mainly a conduit for getting melted butter into your mouth and really don't do the job untoasted. Personally, I would toast hot cross buns, tea cakes and welsh cakes as well. Probably that farl as well, I would slice it across ways and toast. They look too cloggy otherwise.
