2007 PT Cruiser CV axle wobble, shake, shimmy, vibration
2007 PT Cruiser. Vibration, shimmy while under acceleration. CV axle wobble. It all started after I did a rapid stop while going in reverse and turning. I have already replaced both driver side and passenger side cv axles and balanced the tires to rid the vibration but it did not fix the problem. Is it the differential? Is it the hub? I know, I know, many will just say junk the car simply because it's a PT Cruiser...lol, haha... I get it. But it is a good car and very comfortable. This shaking, vibration problem has become annoying to the point I can't take it much more. It does not vibrate or shake at highway speeds. Do I just keep driving it until something disintegrates or has a catastrophic failure? Any suggestions, comments would be appreciated.

1993 Geo Met Cold Start

My Geo is tired! It has 242K miles. Temp is 3 degrees F. It hasn't been started in several months so I decided to do a "cold start" just see if she would start. It's the 3 cyl with 5sp manual. I've driven this car for years but it's considered retired now. She averaged 43 mpg.

2007 HHR headlight bulb replacement. Sorry about the shaky camera and the poor audio but the wind was horrible and my mic kept cutting out. It's a fairly easy job but most people don't realize they need to remove that plastic shield. Hope it helps and have a good day.

2007 Honda Fit cold start and short review. Problems with the driver door: Window motor, the key lock, and the speaker. All have problems. I had to install a remote system because the actual key lock quit working. I recommend you get a good remote unit if you plan to install one. The Fit has lots of blind spots. I use those fisheye mirrors to help with that.

Cold start 1993 Geo Metro 3cyl. 239,000 miles. I've owned this Geo for about 9 years or so. I paid $275 for it. The engine had been overheated by the previous owner. I put a fresh engine and clutch in it along with CV shafts. I had to solder a hole in the radiator too. It's been a great little car. 45 MPG all the time!
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 annoying squeak in dash and firewall on driver side
มุมมอง 12K10 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a squeak problem that haunted my truck for a couple of weeks. The squeak sounded as if it was something rubbing the firewall right in front of the driver. After oiling all the suspension and bushings and nothing worked, I found that the squeak was related to the gear shift and the linkage. Check out the video. I hope this helps you poor fellers that's been dealing with this same annoyin...

    My suggestion is you make some box in the shape of a turbine and place it in a water stream you can save energy and the process of tumbling rocks can bo done faster

    • @cowsagainstcapitalism347

      You need the aggregate, built up silt to polish. The water box would save energy, but it would also take thousands of years.

    I have an '01 PT Cruiser LTD 5-speed. Over 160,00 mi on the original axles and I have owned it since 2003. To date, no vibration from the axles or any other part of the drivetrain. Your vibration problem was not likely the transmission but rather the axles or something else that the shop replaced along with the transmission. Did you scope out the parts once you got it back? Was it the transmission and what else? There's some real shady mechanics around that recommend big jobs unnecessarily and in doing so they replace the smaller problematic parts along with the big-buck parts and charge the unknowing consumer with a costly repair bill.

  • @ReekRendTest1
    @ReekRendTest1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've watched multiple of these videos, and no one mentions a SUPER important part. The bulb is keyed, it has 3 notches that have to fit in and turn, but one of the notches is larger than the other 2, so the bulb will only insert all the way in one of the three possible positions. If it's not working/going in/turning, pull it out and rotate 1/3 again. I've been going insane for the last hour trying to figure out why it won't go back in (I'd even pulled it out and turned it completely multiple times, must have just randomly missed the one).

    Clever using spoons, I'm looking for details on using a hall sensor and transmitter, screen etc. to set up to read speed and direction from indoors. You could count strobe flashes per min, multiply by 3.14 then multiply by diameter of spoon circle to get inches per minute of wind speed.

    That was basically everything I already knew. Exception: extra clips} But I didn't see a "tutorial-ish" video. You kept going on and on about "...novice" this and that, but I gotta say Farmer Reed, some of us have other obligations, and can't afford the $700 at the moment. I swear the Universe is against me, because this is one of a vast many improbabilities in my life, this one just happened to occur on the day I was laid-off, Full-time student, and THEE absolute biggest raccoon on Earth (approx. 50lbs easy) came out of thin air, phase shifted through the grill and bumper, missing the air bag trigger and completely destroyed my radiator and cool fans. My ex used to think my 'Limmeny Snickets" events were of my own device... she doesn't anymore. So enough of my ranting, I just wanted to see the steps you went through to avoid as many headaches as possible, and save $450 so I can feed my two ravenous teenage sons.

    Well, it turned out to be a bearing in the transmission going bad. I finally had to change the transmission. It runs great, shifts great etc. now. I bought a different car while this was down so I'm actually selling the PT now. Oh and prior to this, I had already changed out all the motor mounts except the one on the driver side. Thanks for all the suggestions though.

  • @MrProchargedStang
    @MrProchargedStang 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It turns out that it's easier to disconnect the transmission fluid lines from the transmission itself than it is from the radiator. Those lines are pressed into the transmission and held in place by a single bracket with a single nut. Simply undo the nut and pry the bracket a bit and the lines pop out. Just leave them attached to the radiator as you pull it out, there is no need to ever remove them from the radiator. Definitely a pain in the butt job that takes about all day. Also, for anyone else reading this, I found there are 2 -10 mm bolts that connect the condenser to the radiator, one on the left and one on the right that need to be removed to get the radiator out. Don't even bother trying to disconnect the fan assembly until you take the radiator out. You're going to have to take it out anyway. I had the fan assembly disconnected before taking the radiator out, there's simply no way to get the assembly out. Too much stuff in the way. You're left with no choice but to remove the radiator, which means taking out the headlights and the bumper as well.

    You poor man. You did tons of steps that were not needed. I appreciate the video though. I took mine to a mechanic and paid $540. Worked great for a year. Went to jack the car up from the front cross member and the car slid off the jack and ruined the radiator and condensor. $740 later it's good again. Now I have a coolant leak and I think it's the radiator. I'm sure the mechanic will back his work. What a pain. 251k miles on my 05. These are Damn good engines.

    this video helped me. i have been having the same issue with my 08 milan (also 5 speed) and this would explain why both of my sway bar links are snapped and the violent rotational wobble when accelerating at higher speeds. i have ruled out brake issues. its not a bad caliper or brake line and i dont have warped rotors. no noticeable transmission issues and i dont have a bent rim so yeah that pretty much narrows it down to a bent axle.

Also, if you get the sense that I was just complaining, keep in mind that I was fairly frustrated by the time I made the video. Thank you to those that left kind words. Much appreciated.
