5 unusual ways the A7riii is better than the A7r
What button do you press to change ISO? Very unclear in your video. Sorry.
Press in the wheel where it says iso, then scroll.
Why is C2 a manual focus button and a AF-C button simultaneously?? Very confusing video…
I've set it up so that by pressing C2, I can switch between manual focus and autofocus. It just so happens that my autofocus is set to AF-C.
mkey beavis is that you????
Beautiful camera!
@@ldbass62 Thank you 😊
That is one beautiful Leica. Congratulations. Although, an original M2 black paint is something else.
Thanks 😊 An original black paint is a bit of a grail!
What a good looking camera! I love the blue grey and silver chrome combination. This leica M2 looks like brand new. Does it cost a fortune to buy ?
Its a Leica my friend, they all cost a fortune to buy.
This particular example was about £1500 for the camera, with the paint and service costing just over £1000. So all in, just over £2500 (without lens). Considering a brand new M-A is £4565, going down this route is a cheaper way to get into a Leica. Having said that, the waiting list at Kanto camera is 2 years. Thanks for watching 😊
@@photobite5698 I was going to mention that, and I think the price has also gone up considerably.
@@lensman5762 Yeah, most likely. I actually think it's a pretty sensible thing to do with an older Leica. I'm pretty sure it can be sold for a fair bit more than what it costs, purely down to Kanto's reputation and long wait times.
Thank you for the review I really like it. Two questions please. What battery are you using? And can I shot without battery if I have my own lightmeter? Thank you very much
It's been a while since I sold it, but I do remember it having an adapter. There is a manual mode, so yes, you can use it with a separate light meter. Thanks for watching 😊
@@photobite5698 thank you
Okay!
did it work? 😅
Yes it did! Review coming soon (if I’m not too lazy).
@@photobite5698 good to know!
Hey man you have a good channel and great voice you should do more videoa
Thank you 😊
Hey! is it possible to access the lenses to add filters like the reto?
Unfortunately, not. I still haven’t quite finished my first roll of film in this camera, so I can’t even tell you how good the images are 😅
He's not worth it. Anybody shooting any brand cameras knows you get as sharp pictures with any one of them if you focus up and keep steady.
Great man. Thank you so much 🎉
Congratulations on your beautiful new camera! Watch you don't put you finger over the lens when shooting. I hope it gets lots of use. It deserves it.
Thank you 😊 It really is an exquisite tool.
Tks a lot, this is the best video I`ve seen on how to adjust the flash
Thank you :)
Modern batteries made the light meter inaccurate so i use a stepup ring and uv filter to block some light and it corrects it. Use an ND filter if you want to make 800iso a more versatile film. C'mon 1 filter isn't inconvenient to carry
Yeah, in hindsight, that was a pretty big oversight.
He gets youtube views appealing to people with gear acquisition syndrome (myself included), I bought lots of lenses based off his recommendations, none of the lenses were bad, but I realised I don't need 3/4s of the lenses that he's says are must own items. Then I saw some of his Flickr shots for a lens he was testing. Granted it was just a test, but any photographer can compose a shot of flower, but his pictures looked like you gave a 5 year old a camera, put in on auto and then turned exposure comp to +3. Horizon was off, he was cutting bits in and out of frame, the kind of things that would take 2 seconds to recompose to fix. Then I went through all of his Flickr photos, not very inspiring, artistic, impressive, or even technically sound shots. I have friends and relatives that don't even have an amateur interest in photography, whose phone snapshots are composed and exposed better. I couldn't find any portfolio, or any past work, or a website for business or anything. I concluded he's just someone that owns a used camera gear shop, and has delusions of grandeur of being a world renowned scientist and a fantasy life as a photographer. It damaged my own ego a bit because I spent money based on his advice when I really didn't need to. It was also a bit damaging to my ego because he's such an obvious charlatan when talking about other topics such as physics, but I couldn't put 2 + 2 together because he had so many views and so much camera gear, I figured he still must be expert in lenses, perhaps not from being a photographer, but maybe from manufacturing or working in camera lens design, or perhaps doing repair and maintenance work. But now I think he just spent all of his old income on old nikkor gear, and his TH-cam income on fuji gear, and he just hoards gear and doesn't use it. I saw he did some shooting with another youtube photographer, taking shots of a model in a proper shoot, with a GFX camera. The other photographer's shots weren't anything special, not every shoot has to produce magic, but you can tell still tell they were taken by a pro based on the composition, where the light was falling on the subject, if anything it was just a little heavy on the light room editing, but still usable shots. Ken's results though were less than underwhelming, they didn't even look like amateur shots, just really beginnerish. Then it was later revealed he plagiarised some prints, claiming to be his own work. I see he's still making videos with some frequency. I do feel gullable for being taken in by this guy, when it's obvious he's just a weirdo fake.
Yep. He's an extremely weird individual. 😕
I've seen a ka-jillion of Angry Photographer's videos, and I can easily watch them more or less constantly because I'm disabled, and I have LOADS of time on my hands. AND ... I've concluded that he very much knows exactly what he's talking about. If he recommends this or that camera, or such and such a lens, then you can rest assured that the opinion is accurate and valid based on the objective criteria which he lays on the table along with his equipment. He's just perceived as an asshole because he thinks he knows everything. But in effect ... some people do indeed know everything - more or less. Mostly MORE - Countless photographers who compare themselves with him have been photographers for maybe a decade, and have owned and used quite extensively no more than a half dozen different cameras, and most likely of the same brand. But this guy has been around the block more than a few times, and he has dedicated himself to what he knows for at least half a lifetime - decades. Yes, he's an asshole. But yes, he sure as hell knows what he's talking about. The ironic part is that he's more dedicated to the equipment than to doing actual photography. But not everyone is a successful businessman as a photographer, and trust me, I know this from experience ... a self employed photographer is successful only if he knows how to market himself. And in many cases ... he hardly needs to be more than just a moderately skilled photographer. The guys who always win all of the contests as judged by the official "master photographers" quite often are not very successful in their business endeavors as photographers.
He may know what he’s talking about, but that doesn’t make him immune to bias and misinformation. I’d argue that makes him worse.
@@photobite5698 - No, it doesn't make him immune. But show me even one instance when he demonstrated actual misinformation. Bias is another matter which is not objectionable, because it only means opinionated. Everyone has opinions! And some opinions are far more valid than other opinions. For starters ... he has owned every professional Nikon camera ever made, and has worked as a camera repair man. Plus he's intimately familiar with plenty of the semi professional cameras, and also a huge majority of the lenses, all going back several decades. He also knows Fuji inside and out, and in many ways, he currently prefers Fuji over Nikon, which has in recent years experienced business problems on account of unbridled hubris. He also examines plenty of Canon cameras and lenses, and has compared Canon lenses to Nikon. Overall he prefers Nikon, but he knows that in some areas, Canon wins, especially if you might want a few particular humongous Canon telephoto lenses. He also compares Tamron to Nikon, and has declared a particular super wide angle Tamron zoom lens which is similar to a similar Nikon lens as slightly superior to the Nikon, or at least of equal quality, but for a much lower price. I don't give a crap if people are opinionated as long as they can back up their opinions with demonstrated facts. And guess what? That's what he does. Some people DO know "everything" while others only believe they know everything. Mr. Angry photographer finds himself in the first camp. He comes across as an asshole because that's generally true of all people who are super confident, and also absolutely correct, in their opinions. In the world of politics, Donald Trump is in the same category, which is also why particular people take a crap on him just like they do on Angry photographer.
@@scotthullinger4684 Literally in this video that you're commenting on, I break down numerous bits of disinformation. He deliberately misleads people.
A few years back, I had asked a simple on a live he was doing regarding cameras. He read my comment and proceeded to talk the ever living shit out of me because I worded something wrong. Mind you I was a new photographer at the time and I was learning. Ever since that live, I’ve learned so much and I haven’t watched another one of his videos. He’s an absolute nut case with a galaxy sized ego. The word salad he spews out it to confuse you to hide the fact that he has no clue what he’s talking about. That goes for cameras and his pseudoscience nonsense.

You sound stuck in a drain-pipe mate
You should try Aperture mode on the flash; all you have to do is set the ISO being used and the Aperture. There is a sensor on the flash and when in Aperture mode it will output the correct amount of light based on the flash settings and the light sensor reading. If shooting on the hot shoe of some bodies, the body will transmit the ISO and Aperture settings for you while the flash is in Aperture mode -- if not just set it on the flash. I normally use iTTL; however when using a modern flash that does not support TTL on a film body then placing the flash in Aperture mode is all one needs to do; plus, it will also handle situations where you are bouncing the light off a wall or ceiling.
Fascinating, thanks :)
So: I put A mode on the Flash and 1/60 on camera, then the flash says me what aperture f stop I have to use ?
5) You have to love your camera. It's an extension of you. If it's for sale, let me know. I can give it a good home.
4) Not sure if you have a faulty shutter, but one of the MAJOR advantages is it doesn't make a lot of noise when you shoot.
3) When in doubt put it on manual and use your expert judgement. I shot a job on a sunny day in a well illuminated Barbers shop. Big windows, plenty of light but still had to meter at f2.8 (QL 28) at 30th, on 400 film, handheld, real smooth. The pictures needed development work. They turned out great. Everybody was happy. The lesson was... "Know your shit. Dont blame the kit".
2) 800 ISO speed should be used for dark conditions, like twilight or indoors. Choice film for the light conditions.
1) f/500 to f/1000 is 1 stop, so drop your aperture or live with 1 stop over for that frame. Film has a wide tolerance.
Great review. I find it amazing that people get upset when opinions differ. I like that the shutter is so quiet. Doesn’t draw much attention. But to each their own. I can’t believe you sold it after taking it to Mecca and getting some wonderful images! That must have been an amazing trip!
Thank you very much! Ultimately, there were other cameras I wanted to buy so I couldn’t justify owning a camera that I wouldn’t use. After many years, many cameras and looking back, I think the most underrated part of the camera is that stellar lens. The shutter speed shortcomings could be mitigated with an ND filter, so that really isn’t that much of a big deal. Anyway, I’m rambling. Thank you for your kind words :)
thank you!!

Fantastic video so easy to follow.
Thank you.
The case is NOT DLC coated.
Yeah, my bad. It’s black IP.
Iso is not a word! It is I.S.O. ....ok, ok, ok!
I thought it was both, as in you can use them interchangeably. It’s an abbreviation of the Greek word, isos, meaning equal.
@@photobite5698 just my pet hate, Im afraid. I.S.O stands for International Standards Organisation.
@@ponymoore6140 Yeah, I get that, however, I’d counter that it’s become an acronym in its own right, like laser, scuba, PIN, IMAX, etc.
Hate to chime in here all this time later, but I'll say this. I agree with a comment below that the DP Review test isn't necessarily the best either. That said, T.A.P. mixes some fact with fiction. For work, I'm a scientist and have heard him go off on a number of topics I am an expert on. As with most social media claims, there is no data behind the claims I heard (which I know are incorrect, "Irrefutably, undeniably so"). I never considered him a photographer (no real photos to show), but a reviewer of gear. Sometimes he delivered decent information, other times just his opinion dressed as fact. That irritates me to no end and the last two years have left me for no tolerance for B.S.. I unsubscribed over a year ago, and haven't been back.
Ken is the greatest photographer to ever walk the earth, and his critics are jealous pieces of shit who fail to understand Ken's genius.
Thank you so much, this is very useful and easy to understand!
Thanks for the review and i love your makkah shots! hope can go there again soon
Thank you! Insha Allah we both get to go again.
Thank you! This video is very helpful!!

Thank you! Exactly what I am looking for for my SB910.
O-M-G!!! thank you so much!!! I learned a lot! Just what I was looking for! THANK YOU!
Ken is no photographer and should start another channel on Magnetism which he actually has knowledge on and leave the photography to real photographers.
How do you not take the best prime lens and stop it down if you want to compare maximum sharpness of a sensor? It's absolutely mind boggling how little he does know about cameras after all these years. And even worse, people are following him. Imagine someone reviewing cars and hasn't driven a car once...only possible on the internet.
Absolutely. He's deliberately misleading and about as far removed from a photographer that you can get. Somehow he attracts people based on the cult of personality, lol.
Have you ever shoot a rangefinder before? Sounds like you expect the mirror slap which they don't have. The absence of slap/noise vibrations are are why many choose a range finder./ People who know range finders love this camera.
It's been a few years since I sold the camera, but I do remember it well. On reflection, it is a really good camera with an excellent lens. However, it's still not for me. I use a Rollei 35 pretty regularly these days, and I'm not a huge fan of the "snick" shutter noise, too, but the rest of the experience more than makes up for it. Even though it's not a rangefinder, it fills the same role. Out of the two, for sure, the Canonet produces better images, but the Rollei feels nicer. I have a Fuji GW690 which is also a rangefinder, but that's a different kettle of fish.
F22 will give you a lot of diffraction. Just put a ND filter on camera when you go outside on a sunny day. If you are going to take indoor shots don't take it. A filter is nothing to carry
Yeah, you're right. At the time, for some reason, it didn't even occur to me.
Those are flash guide numbers and would be referenced to the guide on the back of an old flash.
Thanks man on setting me on the right path 🙏
What do you think of the Nikon FM3A? And how the Leica M4 compares to the new MP. Good selection of cameras 👍
The FM3a is an excellent camera. Some say it's one of the best Nikon made. Very versatile and reliable. The M4 is good, too, but I would place the M4 and M6 behind the MP and MA, as the newer cameras have a nicer film advance and film rewind. In terms of build quality, the M3, M2 and M5 are supposedly built to higher standards than Leica's newer cameras. Those 3 were handbuilt and designed to have adjustable, rather than replaceable, internal parts. With that being said, they are much older cameras, so you're going to want to factor in the cost of a CLA when buying one. Still, if it was my money and I was on the market for a Leica, it'll have to be the M-A. One day...
You had me at “festooned”.
Great short and to the point! Thank You!
