Spirit Island is by far my favorite board game of all time. On this channel I aspire to help players develop their skills and learn new tactics so that you can push to higher difficulties!

I would have picked Gift of Power for sure in the first round. Extra cards is always great to delay your reclaim + it has nice elements.
What a climax. Great game.
See enticing splendor but takes razor sharp instead. Absolutely built different
@@thedoublehelix356 gotta give love to the runt of the minor deck when possible
Lure thrashes russia no matter what cards you get.
@@sulkingraccoon a guy did a run where he gained no new cards the whole time th-cam.com/video/B1jNdjf3ccw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SKKdwH2PAc0piCRp
@@ryanlackie1129 Nice, Strategy Meeples did this as well.
Also, seeing that big stack of presence in the ocean makes me want to see this aspect played with Finder so it can use its “push half the presence in a land” power/innate on such a large stack. Not sure if that’s better than base ocean in that combo, which is already pretty crazy. Creating an inland dump land, temporarily making it adjacent to the ocean (and therefore coastal), and putting deeps tokens there to whittle down the big stack of invaders seems like it could be really strong. You’d be giving up a lot of land drowning for that though, and if you drown the dump land before the coastal explore comes up, you’d have a really rough time 😅
Haha, I’m glad I’m not the only one bothered by the ordering of the deeps innates.
"We need to hold onto this card if only for the sake of energy" - he said, sitting in 11 energy with a deck of minors :P
Last turn of the game, you could have event-proofed yourself by just playing Hazards Spread for a badlands and getting that last city kill. With a whole turn left, there's probably literally zero chance of losing at that point, though.
did you not have to discard your hand after using call of dahan ways or do you just choose the bullet points you want to do
He had literally zero cards in hand, so I guess it's your interpretation as to whether he discarded it or not.
@@celestialspark5697 do you discard the cards in play in your hand or the ones not in play in your hand?
@@thomashantgin5124 when a card is in play, it is no longer in your hand. There’s 3 zones a card can be in: in hand, in play, and in discard
@@ryanlackie1129 thank you 🙏🏼
Does isolation prevent explores even when there are explorers in the land? Around 11:40 in video.
i love deeps because you can go g2 to get the elements for repeat drowning. base there is almost no reason
deeps gotta be a top 3 spirit, so fun
Great video! Thunderspeaker in general is not for me, but I also like rushing top-track on some 0-2-1 spirits. It's very fun (and viable in some circumstances) on Wandering Voice, Ember-Eyed Behemoth, and Vengeance.
Love your videos! This was a cool game to watch, but I feel like it was not a good showcase of tactician. The thirds growth option was only used once with good effect, and that was only possible because en event gained a power card the turn before. Makes me wonder what other builds are possible with it :)
I’m nervous to try this guy. I like that energy for manifestation, a card i dont even like really. That’s why i love warrior. But idk, thanks for the video
Dude. Loving all the new content you've been cranking out! 😄 Thank you!!
'I could just use my right innate to cleat this land' , like DUDE you have been ignoring the 4 wind speed up all game , like ,why bother looking at it now ?
maybe I'm missing something but I think at 21:01 you wasted the right innate for the town kill. D1 was already defended by the dahan and that right innate could have been useful in the slow, potentially killing more than 1 town.
Some juicy game here, it's not often that you see Snek using most of its features.
@@Annokh I’ve never hit the big snake quake in solo before :(
5:24 you added the wilds but never actually built from the event.
That's frustrating to miss... It's largely forced to go to the C4 jungle, since I wouldn't want to spend the disease. And If I had done literally everything else the same for my subsequent turns the end rest would have been almost the same. I hate missing things like that though, talking while playing with decent pace is a challenge!
@ryanlackie1129 Don't be too harsh on yourself with making errors on videos. The videos are very enjoyable despite such mostly-minor errors. When people bring your attention to such mistakes, it isn't to say that the game is not valid, instructive, or fun to watch. As I see it, it is to help improve already-great content.
for the destroy 2 pressence why did you not destroy your incarna and use the Add to Sacred Sights movement option to pop it back in the jungle
At what time stamp?
@@ryanlackie1129 when you destroyed 2 presence from the blighted event. Forget exact time but towards the end.
@@ryanlackie1129 16:36
Haven't finished watching this yet but one thing to note is that BODAN's left innate only gives you an element that you already have at least 1 of. So at 22:30, you could not take a plant element because you didn't already have any.
At 9:28 you only have 1 sun, so that would only be 1 damage and 1 destroyed invader, right? Also buildings had +1 health from the event. It probably didn’t make a huge difference as the extra 2 buildings would have just sat there with strife for the rest of the game until you killed them since you were in full control.
Great video
Okay, I don't get it. On your 3rd turn (I think) when you played Visions and Domesticated you had 2 fires and 2 moons, so 4 fire/moon elements to allocate between, well, fire and moon. Why does the game show you can have your second level innate which requires 5 of those in total? What am I missing?
@@Annokh the dark fire aspect gives shadows a free fire element, so you have 1 from the aspect, and 2 each from 2 cards, for a total of 5
@@ryanlackie1129 Oh damn. So I've learned like 2/3 of this aspects rules today for some reason.
I'd almost want to house rule that beast add starts should be considered setup symbols but board F would be completely locked out of Haps LC town add. I'd have to look at the other boards to see if any others would share that fate .
watched the vid later looks like board D has 4 , 6 & 8 available. decided to pull up the wiki . board A has 1 & 5 , Board B fails , board C has 4 & 8 , JE boards : board E fails, board F fails and the horizons G actually has the animal printed and no non printed setups ? So I guess Haps LC doesn't get a town? same with board H ?
@@brianmurphy9039 it’s odd that it didn’t come that way considering the tokens printed on the thematic side
For Unearth, you should (always) play it so it triggers the same turn. Any terrain not shown during the spirit phase works, doesn't matter if it explores the same turn.
lol 😂 i love it. this is why i love spirit island. your friend can’t be like hey you cheated. everyone wins and it allowed you to do something epic so your friend if anything would be like f yeh brother
Great game Ryan. Please note that the last tier of the „Afflict with Bloodthirst“ is a forced explorer + town/dahn push for each beast. At least twice you pushed only one town, although there were more then one beast. Otherwise, thanks again for the entertaining game.
@@michaelregge6649 I must have misread it, I thought it was just 1 push if there are any number of beasts. Thanks for the correction!
Great video! At 43:30 you get 7 total damage, so you could destroy a town instead of the 2 explorers. 1+3 damage from the innate and 1+2 damage from Blood Draws Predators. Love your channel by the way.
I have to make things harder for myself as penance for cheating last game 😅🤣
Very noble and honest of you. Thank you very much for uploading another video to make up for it! Looking forward to watching
Love Shadows content :D nice game!
I love that you skipped Constancy, I 100% agree with you. Paralyzing is fine, but Constancy, Vigor and Unrelenting Growth are just win-buttons that make the games less fun and less rewarding.
Fun game! Lure might be my favorite spirit the theme the combination of the innates and the artwork are just so fantastic. I’ve seen the one play opening with softly beckons before and I want to like it, but I feel like it opens up so many challenges that can’t be handled as easily. In this case if the second stage one was wetlands, how would you avoid taking a blight? gathering the sand towns and explorers with no tokens to use never heard from again and swallowed won’t be available in the next turn and then if the stage two card is wetlands, I’m not sure I see a way out of that without a good defend draft. For me where I still struggle as lure is in a situation like that if I have to take a blight, losing a presence is not a big deal but losing the targeting can be devastating
now if only you had been playing thunder speaker, hearth vigil or even eyes . Soo many dahan adds. heck even Finder could have taken serious advantage of all those dahan. come to think of it that Stone card stubborn solidity would have gone more super sayan than it already is.
I wish I could have this luck any other game! Thankfully there was enough defend to make it useful
I love me some Volcano! I once did Volcano against almost all adversaries level 6 on board E, Volcano is so strong there. 24:30: escalate happens before the exploration, so E2 should get the town
The city at the end had 2/3 HP [because the Flames prevented healing from previos term]. Took 1 (+1 badlands) dmg from strife and died.
Nice game, happy to see Savage Mawbeast in the spotlight ;) 16:10 you could use SM to do 2dmg to a durable town, THEN gather it to F4.
@@AndreasVNesje that’s a clever line I didn’t consider!
Ryan, I appreciate the fact that you go about playing SI in a very organic manner-going almost exclusively bottom and playing minors with Lure is a fairly unorthodox way to play and I love it! Thanks!
@19:39 you don't play fire in the sky for some reason and just skip 2 fear and a strife for some reason?
Oh good catch! No reason to skip that
You didn't actually need a defend at 10:40, Rites of the Land's Rejection cleanly solves your F3.
This!
Good catch!
Okay, can someone explain why "remove" on fear cards is being interpreted as "push"? Never noticed that, but I constantly see it in these vids.

In hindsight, early reclaim makes sense on fangs. But at first it feels like "wow, this spirit is truly the random bullshit go kind of guy of the game".

@@lukastroller3730 thanks! For a long time I didn’t want to do pure gameplay videos, but I’ve embraced it now
Nice win! I think the last turn would have been a little safer with a reclaim followed by playing dreadful tide, pursue, and any air animal card alongside it. Would allow for a fear bomb with beset and confound, as well as dreadful tide for 4 fear each after getting at least 4 beasts into any invader land. Pursue rounds out the last fear for the win that wouldn't be at the mercy of an unlucky event flip.
