You always hear about the sins of the parents unto the 3rd and 4th generation... these chapters always prove that to be true. But it's a sad thing. And a lesson for parents to be mindful so that their children can prosper.

Well said and so true, but Nabal was not known for courtesies...I'm sure David knew that...I still believe that Nabal had a right to deny David's request since he did not hire him...David's ego got the better of him...
Is the insult from Nabal that upset David. A soft answer turns away wrath. Kindness should be rewarded with kindness. Remember, the servants were also happy for David's protection. Nabal was safe in his house while the servants were the ones in danger doing the work. He could have been more pleasant.
David can't be blamed for Saul's actions. Saul's actions are his alone to bear. I think David did not think Saul would be crazy enough to lay his hands on a priest of God. He did his best to ensure that the priests remained ignorant of his and Saul's enmity. Saul knew the priest was innocent and still proceeded with his evil action.
Point taken. I still can't help but think somewhere in his mind David knew that Saul was capable of punishing anyone who tried to help him, and he was placing Ahimelech especially in a controversial situation. He also saw Doeg, Saul's servant in the temple that day so he knew that Saul would find out.

What goes around comes around - how else know what the other experienced. This is sufficiently complicated and enthralling that I had to go back to the chapter 26,27. We forget that Esau had given his birthright to Jacob out of shear impatience, something their father probably did not know.
@@zandragotteberg1007 it is a case of "reaping what you sow"...you are right...Jacob's bargain with Esau for the birthright may not have been known to Isaac...payback is best understood with knowledge of the original act...

Thank you for viewing...I believe it may be because God dealt more directly with His people in biblical times...penalties for sin were quicker and more visible...but repentance was slow and orchestrated by priests...since Jesus cleared the way for us to go directly to God...we have a chance to repent much quicker and receive forgiveness--without the priest and the sacrificial offerings...
Great video! Very informative. The Old Testament is not always the most popular part of the Bible to start with as a new Christian. It seems at times more harsh than the New Testament.
Thank you for viewing...I believe there are people who can trace their ancestry from that tribe, but I don't know if they are preferred above others for officiating in the services anymore...

Only time will tell.
I noticed you said this Saturday the Sabbath. Do you have weekly church services on Saturdays?
Yes, there are congregations around the world that have weekly Saturday services--the Seventh Day Adventists are some of many.
