MSFS2024 - FSRealistic Pro in the new sim. Does it hold up?
Hello big, beautiful world. Today I take the tundra 170 up over London to see how the 2024 version of FSRealistic stands up. TLDR: I'm impressed so far and more than that I'm really loving the way that everything is starting to settle in the sim itself. As ever, comments and feedback always welcome, clan.

Hello, oh, oh, oh, oh big beautiful world. My first outing in MSFS2024 and because I seem to enjoy kicking against the pricks, I put in my two cents worth, together with my thoughts. All entirely unhelpful. All entirely free to you and you and you.

G'day big, beautiful world. This dropped up at our beloved flightsim.to over the past couple of days and I'm a little bit chuffed. She's quick, she's huge, she's beautiful and if you're watching this, I think you'll dig it, too. flightsim.to/file/84130/hawker-sea-fury

'Ello big, beautiful world. It has been a while. And that is largely due to the fact that we'd just back from overseas. Not a lot to report. I just figured I'd take the venerable and still beautiful Staggerwing up for a run down the east coast of Italy while talking crap, as usual.

Today a quick run up around Redwings 1935 Cardington (the name of which I proceed to butcher a few times, just for larks), 1935 Geneva and lastly 1935 Cheyenne in the A1R Design Bureau's Chilton (this last being tacked on because I felt like it). G'day big, beautiful world. So I splashed out and bought me the new Avicacion Espanol Hispano Aviacion HA-200 Saeta and I've gotta say I think this one's going to stay in my stable for a bunch of reasons but primarily because it's just kinda sorta odd. Come along for the inconclusive judgements, incomplete sentences and incoherent thoughts.

Hello big, beautiful world. I could be making things up but it looks to me like Bluemessh have done one of those intermittent, though excellent, updates for the Caudron Rafale 430. I take off out of Genova, fly down the Ligurian coast and land with a pitiful lack of talent and discipline at Florence. Gotta love the flight sim.

Very much appreciated seeing this. Been and airship buff, most of my life. I'm on FS20, and am looking forward to when we get the market place up and running. Thanks for sharing this. :)
It's such an unusual and challenging way to enjoy the sim but it pays off. I must confess I haven't taken its smaller offspring up in MSFS2024 yet but I think P Gatcomb has already done a video on it which I need to check out.
Good advice..wonderful flights. Thank you
Cheers, mate. :)
I am so impressed with the technical reach of this game. It's going to take time to bed in. Shift-C is to hop in and out of a plane. I always felt that the naysayers could easily go back and fly 2020, but they got upset because they wouldn't get to play with the latest physics and graphics. It was amazing how many "experts" popped out of the woodwork and tried to tell Asobo where they went wrong. I suspect you are right and Microsoft gave insufficient servers saying "That will be more than enough". The fact that it took less than 36 hours to resolve the majority of the worldwide connection issues is impressive. At least everyone now knows what will happen when the servers go down and hopefully Asobo know how to fix it quickly. A lot was learnt in those 36 hours.
Cheers for the Shift C heads up, my friend. Yeah. Given the enormity of what everyone has set out to achieve, I really do have to take my hat off to what has been achieved so far.
I haven't got load in yet. Keeps crashing at 25% 😢 Redwing want to update the 1935 content but need to see what tools are available to do so. 🤞🤞🤞
Patience, mate. I know it's a hackneyed cliche but give it a week or so and see if the magic unfolds then.
Thanks for the review! Stay tuned for a large update dropping in the next few days :)
Fantastic, mate! Thanks for the heads up.
I acquired it as soon as I saw it released. The Sea Fury has always been my favorite warbird, and it's great to see what a good job they did with it. What's up with the tailwheel being off the ground in the parking spot? Definitely worth a donation to the developer.
Couldn't agree more! The whole 'plane on the compass turntable' thing on the ground is due to FSRealistic Pro's walkaround mode. When it was first released, it was sensational but subsequent updates have mucked up the ground positioning. I couldn't agree more. It reminds me of the Dave Garwood Hunter and B4Gunner's Navions when he first put them up on filightsim.to. I still can't get over the quality of this beast and the great liveries from the get-go.
Looks really cool. You need to get it to Duxford for the shows.😊 The only thing that is missing is the oil puddle at the parking spot.
Yah that was good thank you
I bought this on sale last night for Xbox. I love it!
The Rara Avis team knocked it out of the ball park wit this one. It's terrific.
@@flyingliar938 I also got the Velocity which I think you’d like. The Horton does have spoilers but you probably figured that out. I do like the autopilot so I can look at it on long trips.
Yes! The Velocity XL is another sweetheart. It's funny but I tend to keep coming back to this, the WACO, the DH83 Fox Moth and the Caproni Vizzola for my GA flying. I need to get back into a lot more of the stable like the Hughes H1, some of Sal1800's creations. So many great planes.

Ah, was just thinking the other day that I have not seen you around for a while, welcome back. FS2024, while wanting to keep up with the modern world, computer says NO and wallet agrees
Thanks, mate. I must admit I will hold off for a while. Not out of skepticism but just to allow the server strain settle a bit. Besides, I realised that I've got so many bloody Redwing 1935 add-ons, It'll break my heart of they don't all port across nicely. As for wallet saying NO, don't listen to it. It is an inanimate object which as but one objective and that is to hold your loose change and used bus tickets. It has no right giving out counsel and whispers. Pay no heed to the naysayers!!! ;)
I've been wondering when we would see Chemtrails in the sim and here they are. The idea that theses are natural formations is ludicrous. First we saw those hideous wind turbines uglyfying the landscape, now we have chemtrails uglifying the skyscape. Will such ugliness never end? Having to fly through skies this ugly will kill the sim for me.
You must find real life hard
🤔 The carpet pattern in a room with piano is based on real one, or it's a easter egg from developer?
Hmmm! Good point!
how do i download this configuration of the plane?
From memory, I purchased it through Simmarket, mate. It pretty much installed without issue from there.
great
Have not flown this bird in ages, I find I am making the same mistakes I did when I first started.
In a simulator filled with greats, this remains one of the very best to me. A real love letter to arguably one of the strangest slices of history to hit the skies. A beautiful beastie.
Thanks I will try these

So that's how you start the Couzinet. That had me bewildered!
I must confess, I'd noodled with the thing for half an hour and then struck upon the idea of reading the pdf. I ain't as quick as I used to be sorting that stuff out. 😂😂
Nope, still can't start it 🫣
Whats the top speed on this beauty?
Darned good question! I think the projected speed was just over the 500 mph mark but in the sim, it clocks out at around 350-400. I'll have to take it for a quick spin to see what she does!
Great to see that you are enjoying the Cub! A few comments on some of the problems you're experiencing: Flying with windows and doors open: you need to disable airframe overstress (I think that's what it's called) in the options of MSFS. That has been implemented so poorly by Asobo that you practically never can fly with open windows, an open canopy, or even an open storm window. It also sometimes causes weird "you have crashed" scenarios that don't seem quite right. So all in all, it's a "feature" that is best to deactivate. Starting the engine: I wonder if you have some control bindings that are interfering. That might also explain why the engine doesn't shut down. When you switch on the magnetos and pull through the prop it doesn't sound like the magnetos are firing at all. Check your controls for magnetos and your controls for mixture, maybe it's one of those that is messing things up. As for the airspeed not working: I can't quite make it out on screen, but the pitot tube cover might still be in place. BTW, it's fun to do a walkaround of the plane. You can manually check the oil, remove the chocks, remove the tie-downs, move the control surfaces, and remove the pitot tube cover. For this to work you'll need to stay in cockpit view however, not switch to external view. There are instrument views for all of the walkaround stations, but personally I'm just moving the view around manually for the fun of it.
Will implement all of the above! cheers, mate. And yeah, it certainly is a keeper that puts you in the zone.
For the Cub I have the same issue with the door causing a crash like you. Other than that no issues. It has state saving so you do need to use the tablet to check oil etc at the start of each flight. For the 1935 scenery you'll get the overlap if there's a custom model for the airport in msfs. I simply uninstall these in content manager as I never use modern airports. The other option is to user addon linker to switch between modern and 1935. There's a conversation on the redwing discord at the moment on how to do it. I'm as computer inept as you can get and managed to get the addon linker working with their help.
Grand advice. I've looked at the add-on linker in the past. I'll give it another crack. Cheers!
Is it in the market?
It's available over in the Sim Market, mate.
@@flyingliar938 is it on xbox?
I couldn't tell you, my friend. I haven't owned a console since a 2002. Anyone out there know the answer to this one?
Happy Sunday friend!
You too, mate. :)
Now that could be one jet that might fit my stable. Sounds like you've had good fun in this first outing! Could you do me a little favour and drop me a short line once you've flown her some more to report if you still like it or if some major issues have come up? Aside from the two planes you mentioned you should really also take a look at the CAS J-3 Cub. That beauty is otherworldly! It is the first plane that comes even close to replacing the Tiger Moth in its top position on my all-time favourites list.
Damn! Good point. I still enjoy burtling about in the Flight Replica Cub from time to time - especially when the wind's up and I feel like a challenge But yes, I've hear only good things about the new Cub. Thanks, mate!
@@flyingliar938 The good things you have heard about the Cub are all true, I can promise you that! This plane has heart, it has character, it feels alive, and it feels unique. Plus of course it's a vintage classic par excellence. I don't own the Flight Replica one to compare it to, but I've got quite a lot of planes and the CAS Cub is at the very, very top in regard to quality and enjoyment.
The cas cub is very good. They're working on a floats version too
It's only fair that I should bite the bullet and buy this puppy, then! Thanks, guys. Will the floatplane be a separate beasty or an upgrade for the existing one, does anyone know?

Cheers, mate. It's an intoxicating drug is our beloved MSFS2020. Flying over your own house (or something that resembles it damned closely) in an obscure pre-war or wartime 'what if' aircraft is a surreal experience. Yeah. It's worth every solitary second I've wasted burtling about in it. :)
Hello! Welcome back friend!
Cheers, mate. It's nice to be home again. :)
i get only 20 FPS in this thing , while i get 30 FPS in fenix A320 and 60FPS in default airplanes
Oh gosh, that's a bummer. Actually, I'll rephrase that. Is it stuttering at 20 FPS or does it look okay. It may sound weird but the reason I ask is because I've seen a number of machines running in the low 20s, fps-wise, but still behaving beautifully and looking gorgeous. from all scenarios. I chalked it up to the GPU overall load but I may be wrong on that count. In candour, I very, very, very seldom check the FPS count, preferring instead to judge by overall behaviour.
@@flyingliar938 its very stuttery at 20 FPS , actually only redwing planes do that on my sim , constellation and this plane , unplayable , i have RTX 3060ti and only these planes do that , i can run Fenix A320 in new york at ultra settings , but not the F60
That is very strange! Did you get any feed back from the Redwing team at all?
@@flyingliar938 I didn't ask them , I thought they would fix it themselves in an update
The blue room with the airship evolution diagrams on the walls was the smoking room. Yes, there was a room for smoking cigares and cigarettes aboard the hydrogen operated LZ-129 airship. 😀 The chairs ,tables and benches were made from non combustible materials, the lighters were chained onto the tables so no one could remove them. Additionally the room featured its own isolated air conditioning secured by an airlock to ensure fire safety. There was also a steward present at all times to ensure that everyone knew what to do and was sticking to the rules regarding smoking aboard.
This is insanely rich with tragic irony. Not just the incongruity of smoking under the hydrogen bags but also the strangely comical early 20th century Teutonic response to being allowed to smoke under the watchful eye of a steward posing effectively as a guard. Such a weird clash of mental images. Thanks for the feedback!
Serious Question: Do you have to make coordinated turns with this like you do with fixed wing planes? Or is it just yawed?
From my poodling around with it so far, it's more like being captain of a seagoing vessel. As the Rudderman/helmsperson, I use the mouse to change course via the compass or individually regulate the engine speeds via the four engine gondolas. I know it's just me, at this stage, but I honestly find it more rewarding to just use the Captain and Rudderman positions to do everything, while I go off and do some more exploring to see what other easter eggs I can come across.
@@flyingliar938 Thank you. Turning like a ship makes sense.
How are you able to get Manhattan and New York buildings to not have thousands of trees growing on top of them, middle of roads, etc? And no green or black building slime?
The Redwing New York city scenery, I think, mate. Part of their 1935 range up on the MSFS Marketplace. People rag on the 30X0 series Nvidia cards these days but my one still takes my breath away over scenes like this.
wow the French flag is incorrectly oriented.

Very Nice video. We own and fly the SE RG Velocity. We try to keep 90kts on final, hit our main gear @ 75KTS and keep the canard flying until she stalls, and drops the nose down smoothly. Note: No flaps on Canards, speed brake on some Velocities that help slow aircraft down, and give you a little pitch on final. Keep flying! IFLYBIGSKY
Fantastic feedback! Thanks, mate. Genuinely appreciated.
Hi - the recommendation spec is insane. My card is GTX 1080 , and runs fine, even pmdg dc6 and 737, justflight vulcan, with track ir. I will upgrade to RTX 2080 - but still far off recommended. What happens with gtx1080? CTD, out of memory, FPS not playable?
Honestly, these are all good questions that I don't think I can answer. Even in the hiatus between sims, I always built my PCs with the notion that they'd one day be devoted to X-Plane of MSFS or whatever. Frankly, though, I'd hold off upgrading the card until MSFS2024 rolls around and see what efficiencies the Asobo and Redwings teams make by that stage.
imagine they built one nowadays with even stronger material. length was 265m ? about 860fts? today you might raise it to 1200fts in length, 360m. and have it so light. i would still recommend hydrogen. its so much cheaper. and helium would cost 40mio. yes tahts right. with modern fabrique we would store hydrogenium, have probably weight left for 800 passengers. and 90-100 mi/h (150km/h) speed of travelling. not bad. would be a nice 3 day trip for 10.500km.
Unfortunately, the closest we came (at least here in Australia) was the Swan blimp in the late 80s. aeropedia.com.au/content/airship-industries-skyship-600/
Would be cool but more focus would be needed on protecting the hydrogen from lightning strikes, but yea we now have lots of modern lightweight non flammable materials that were not available back then and electric propulsion. Caribbean Tours would probably be more profitable compared trans Atlantic, a Blimp doesn’t require an airport so could land anywhere on those islands for daily excursions, like a flying cruise ship with views

Absolute beauty. Unfortunately she murders my PC. Graphics card meets spec, CPU does not. I guess it's time to upgrade my machine again. I desperately want to fly this thing transatlantic.
I'm not sure what the differences are with the Lite version FPS-wise. And I haven't tried out the new AutoFPS that everyone is raving about but I'll try them both over the Easter break. Also, the Redwings team, for the most part, do take in feedback from the community, so they may try run an optimisation update soon enough.
what is your cpu? mine is a 4770
garbage fps
Dev has made it clear that you need a powerful machine to run this due to all the custom behind the scenes stuff MSFS just doesn't support, and then there is size of the craft itself. Can use the 'lite' mode to improve FPS that has a few things, like the interiors, cut out.
Good observation that this is a "game within a game." Have done a couple flights and am thoroughly intrigued, but there are a couple of problems. First, I have to disable both multiplayer and FS-generated traffic or its a guaranteed crash to desktop. The more traffic around, especially multiplayer, the faster I get spilled out of FS completely. Second is the listing you observed. That is caused by having any significant crosswind. With 15 knots or more the list angle becomes ridiculous and can only be corrected by steering into the wind or, as the developer suggests in discord, disabling wind which means killing real world live weather. I can live with shutting off traffic but disabling real weather, no way. I love it, but mine sits in its gigantic hanger until that problem is fixed. I'd guess that will be very soon.
Great feedback! Thanks, Gary. Yeah. The listing is odd but once I brought her into the headwind she behaved. I must confess I'm not sure if I was running the FSLTL or standard traffic yesterday and I don't do multi-player, as rule, so I genuinely appreciate the broader perspective.
I have tried using boats in FS and the wind problem affects those also.
I love the way that people develop things for the sim that I don't think the Asobo crew could have dreamed up in a million years. One of the truly great joys of the sim. I think the Rara Avis team are currently in beta with the Horten Ho 229. That will be fantastic.
