Hey Wesley, 🤣 I hear you! and can definitely relate. One by One over many years and it becomes a station. Many radios seen were either repaired or restored. Much thanks Steve, the 7850 was purchased last year. It was listed for sale online. According to the 7850 serial number, it was originally owned by Ray Novak from Icom America. 😊👌

Ran of a slew of D batteries. Then for Christmas 76 a used Sparkomatic CB1123 23 channel mobile which I blew up Christmas morning. Then was happily surprised first week of January 77 when my father took me to our local RS store and bought me the “New for 77” with 40 channels, The Realistic TRC-466 Mini 40! The station has changed many times throughout the years….Crazy hobby, but my therapy! 🤣🤣🤣 Happy Holidays, Best, Len N2LEN

The Icom 7800 MK 2 and later comes ready to operate on the 60 Meter band. The manual shows how to match the frequencies and easily add them into memories. I would think that the software would allow you to select each memory channel once programmed. But I’m not sure and would have to test. 😊

I agree the 7800 is a beautiful radio. It’s heavily duty built. Too bad that part availability from Icom has become nill. So if they fail, servicing them becomes quite difficult and expensive. 🤷‍♂️😊

Thanks.. No I haven’t added a AM filter yet! Installation of the AM filter would require some modifications to accommodate it. There is no additional slots for it. Either remove one or add it with a switching network to select between the two when needed. 😊👍

Hey Bill, The 5000 with the KE9NS version of Powersdr is fantastic! The 6000 series are also great, but if you want to be able to control and access it remotely, the 6000 series is the best for remote control!

@@n2len I was thinking the same thing...the 6000 series is so easy to remote....I've had a couple 5k's and only thing that doesn't work well is the noise reduction....

With the 8000 series now shipping, and many people upgrading there are tons of 6000 series radios being sold. Used prices for a 6300 are dropping. Might very well be a good time to buy one. 😊

In my opinion, if you are talking about Big flagships… the 9000D is the largest and best overall ergonomically built radio of them all. Every knob and control for every function for both main and sub receiver. Two radios built in one box. There and many radios to choose from if you have interest in obtaining a 3rd. If you are a Yaesu man, the 101 series is very nice. It takes a while to learn all its functionality. Totally Menu driven, but with using a touch pen makes selection from the display screen much easier. I’m not a fan of the 2d/3dss waterfall, it’s Yaesu proprietary technology. I might suggest trying out a FTDX-10 which is the basic foundation for the new technology and if after sometime of use you still like it, then upgrade to the 101. 😊good luck!
