Night Fever (Bee Gees) - Multi-track and mix walkthrough
I recently discovered the multi-track files for the Bee Gees song, Night Fever, and thought it would be worth a look to see how they stand up. Obviously recorded by a great band, producer and crew, in a great studio, it was a chance to see a little of how they it, and, of course, to have a go at mixing it myself. Check it out! :-)

This is a cover of the Bob Dylan track that I recorded, mixed and mastered in my home studio space, Guffland Studios. Couldn't help but crack up a little when you added tape saturation to a couple of the tracks that were originally recorded on analog tape. Technology can take us to some weird places. 😆 One thing I have noticed from mixing a good bunch of these old multi-tracks that have become available over the years is how they really do kind of mix themselves a lot. Sure a little bit of EQ and FX are required, but in a lot of cases you just bring the faders up and hit play and it feels like it's all right there. These guys did some spectacular tracking back in the day.
Agree, @troubleondemand7703 - they do tend to mix themselves. They had to I guess, as they didn't have the options we're blessed with these days. As to the saturation, I hear you: it is a little odd. But is there a right amount? So long as it still sounds good, I reckon. They'd have mixed to another tape too, which would've added more. Thanks for checking it out. :-)

Hi @djakosh! I haven't used the Arturia - but the M32 works great for me. Compact size, solid feeling keyboard that integrates well with my DAW, etc.

It's a little north of Melbourne in Australia. It was part of a branch line that was closed in the 1950s when the bridge needed updates that couldn't be justified. Still standing seventy years later - though a couple of good floods look to be all that is required now. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
