I personally never had this experience, but I played around first release. There was a competition every Friday with 5-8 different rounds and speeds. depending on your global ranking you won real life $$. I won probably $15 total throughout. I don’t know when the switch happened. It really does suck seeing a classic game turn into such a cash grab.

as someone who finally got fed up with the tetris app, i rage deleted it last night after absolutely flying through a marathon game & the ads absolutely lagging my screen. it got to the point where the speed with ads was so fast, my pieces would stack and ruin the board but there was nothing i could do with the delay. rip tetris app. rip.

I would’ve enjoyed the app more if there was less transactions, better game modes, and less ads. The ads are absolutely ridiculous. There’s a couple of times where I had to go through back 2 back ads.

The monetisation on Tetris mobile is EGREGIOUS- paying to remove ads as a subscription HAS to be one of the worst, most anti consumer moves I’ve ever seen in a game. The fact that you can only use coins to redeem some ridiculous rewards is horrible. Having an entire feature dedicated to skipping ads is like a parody with everything wrong with mobile gaming. Limited moves are annoying, the forced ads are ridiculous, this app is an insult to Tetris, but it’s not like anything will change, they’re making too much money. Oh yeah, and you can’t play without an internet connection. TETRIS. REQUIRING INTERNET. Genuinely hilarious.

I deleted it after the very first time it made me sit through two back to back 60 second ads of games about farming something.

I Knew there was a video for how bad tetris is.... NOW in marathon mode.... they send out random pieces.... which sets up up to fail... my high score is 30 million.... I could barely break 1 mill now.... thank you for giving me somewhere to vent.

I suggest you downloading Techmino instead. Best tetris port, very customisable, many modes.
