New England Quilt Museum: The Electric Needle Exhibit | 160 Years of Innovation in Quilting Arts
I'm honored to have four of my quilts curated into The Electric Needle Exhibit at the New England Quilt Museum alongside some legendary machine quilters such as Margaret Solomon Gunn, Carson Converse, Karen McTavish, and more. This video doesn't do these quilts justice, so if you're in the area before October 16, 2024, I highly recommend visiting the museum to check out these incredible quilts.
Feel free to pause this video or watch it at a slower rate to read the descriptions and explore the quilts in more detail.

Blocking a Quilt: A Tutorial
มุมมอง 632 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is generally how I block my quilts. There are a number of different ways to block a quilt... many folks will put their quilts in the wash or a bath tub to soak the quilt whereas I tend to spray the quilt with a water bottle. Yes, I'm over a year late in uploading this video, but even though it took me a while to put this together and label every quilt, I still think it's worth sharing because the quilts are so good. Enjoy This is a sampling of some of the quilts that hung at QuiltCon 2023 in Atlanta, GA. While I tried to include as many quilts as possible, with over 400 juried quilts and special exhibits, there was...

QuiltCon 2022 Recap: A Sampling of the Quilts
มุมมอง 14K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a sampling of some of the quilts that hung at QuiltCon 2022 in Phoenix, AZ. With over 400 juried quilts and special exhibits, there was no way I could capture every quilt hanging. These were the ones I photographed myself and found inspirational but there were many others hanging that were equally incredible. All attempts were made to credit the makers of the quilts. Very informative video. Thank you for inspiring me to get started
WOW!! What a labor of love to put this beautiful video together! Thank you for all the inspiration- I hope to attend the show in person ‘someday.’ ❤
Great video. SOOOO cool to see so many quilts. Thanks tons
Thank you SO MUCH for doing this for those of us who couldn’t go!!! Well done!
You're welcome. I'm so glad you enjoy these recaps.
Wait so this doesn’t fade in the wash? That’s amazing. What about an Ecotank printer?
Can you tell me what the ounces were total with oils and water? By the way, pretty
In Australia it’s harder getting freezer paper and we have A4 sized paper. A tip is to stick an A4 sticky label to your fabric, trim the fabric to size and put it through your printer. Works well.
Love This. Thanks!
Awesome information. Thank you very much for sharing.
Very late to to this video, but great information. Thanks! I use freezer paper for labels, but I write with fabric pens. Good idea about the printer. I’ll give it a go.
This is so cool! Looks like so much fun! ❤🤓
It was so much fun!
Always label, so far hand written, usually pieced in the backing prior to quilting which means label is there forever
Awesome … hope you cover 2024, too. Thanks!
Hi. I hope you are still active with this video comment section. I am sashing between my FPP blocks. The sashing is not as stable as the paper pieced block and is stretching a little. Just a tiny bit of "bunching" and not as flat as I would like. Any ideas???
I don't sash often, but for the times when I piece a paper pieced blog to another piece of fabric I will either starch the other piece of fabric and/or use lots of pins. I will also baste sometimes to avoid the fabric moving on me. Basically, it takes a lot of patience.
Ah, yes! Starch would have been great. I completed the quilt already and it turned out fine in the end. Thanks for your reply. 😊
You have to make sure if using Ink Jet printer that the ink is the kind that has pigment in it or it will not be permanent when you wash or if it gets wet unless you use a fabric medium over top of it. Ask me how I know lol.
How does the ink hold up over time? Does it withstand washing?
This is how I do my labels too
Could you tell me the oil weight in ounces to fill this mold? I just bought one. Also how thick did you cut it? Looks more than 1 inch
What a fantastic idea! I'm going to try this for my ears🫶 thank you for sharing. Love your technical terms😉😆
Love this, thank you. I once photo copied a wedding invitation onto fabric with my name, date and quilt name for a wedding quilt gifted.
A bunch of bored kids with clean hands can be the piranha of your paper scraps, if allowed!
Your idea about using the Wonder Clips was fantastic. Spot on, as there is so much distortion, when using pins. Thank you.
Thank you. I love that you show so many quilts so quickly. I am watching it for a second time.
Wow😊. Inspiring
Jen, you made this easy! Can you also add a hang sleeve?
I would like the instructions. Can you give us them?
Love this! Do more videos.
Hi Jen. Since you say you live in a humid area, you may find that you are replacing the painters tape. If that happens you might want to try using a product much like painters tape called Frog tape. Frog tape is green & the same texture as painters tape but it sticks much better! Great idea to use foam board for your design wall! Good luck!
Well organized presentation. Appreciate knowing categories and seeing examples and winners. Very complete. Thank you
The modern stuff is good for hanging on walls in very modern minimalist houses.
This was a really helpful tutorial! I’m just getting started with paper piecing and I have seen so many tutorials about the paper piecing sections but they gloss over joining sections. Thank you!
Your sewing studio is so clean. I have a huge stash and I need more room. Can I fill up your closets with neatly folded and labeled fabric?
So pretty. Thank you. Did you use any soda ash?
На 10 минуте люди повешенные изображены ? Это о чём ?
Excellent❗❗❗
Thank u for this I was contemplating on buying but didn’t see too many videos your video was worth it and confirmed my purchase
This is a great review of the recipe. I want one.😃
Great sewing room. Mine needs to be reorganized.
Nice job shooting the show. Was this on a slow day or was it not crowded?
Thanks a million for posting this, Jen. I'm training for my 31-36 halves and wanted something cute to wear that doesn't break the bank. I bought a bunch of bathing suit material on mega clearance a few years ago (gotta love those sales!), and they will be perfect for skirts. Thanks again and happy running!
I’m cracking up because I’m still collecting my “things” on my rabbit hole of soap making video binging 😂 you even have the side scraper tool, awesome!!
This is such a beautiful soap Jen! Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed watching your soap making show
Hank you! I love this method
Wow, just wow
Finally, a quilt show tour where the camera doesn’t give me motion sickness! I appreciate the closeups of the quilting too. Great video. I wish I could have been there!
Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed this recap of the quilt show. Hopefully you can make a future QuiltCon. It's so inspiring.
That quilt is gorgeous! Love your use of color. I’m really surprised you don’t have more views.
Thank you so much! You are so kind.
Great tour! After 2 very busy sewing days, I get to watch your video with my heating pad on my shoulders and back. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you for your talent, inspiration and posting this video!
Two days of busy sewing sounds blissful but I totally feel those kinks myself. So glad you were inspired. Thanks for watching.
Wow! These are all gorgeous! Thank you for sharing :)
So glad you enjoyed them!
Thank you for sharing this experience. I am in awe of the talent of the quilters and the creativity of the names.
Naming quilts is always so hard for me. So glad you enjoyed this.
