Think of Gilbert and Sullivan. Then think of 'The Mikado' and then enjoy (in the spoken word) the mellifluous tones of arguably the finest 'Mikado' ever to 'grace' the role. If you enjoy the interview, may I suggest that you go next and find him here, on You tube, singing (From 'Iolanthe') ... "When Britain Really Ruled the Waves"... You will catch him - in my opinion - at his very best! Lovely...

Dick Joice was a Regional television presenter, known in East Anglian Television circles His show, "Bygones" ran from 1967 for twenty years. He was a director of Anglia TV in the company's early years..... Something of a local legend really. As you will hear, he can talk for England. :)
Richard In Conversation with the Singer, Charlie Landsborough
มุมมอง 3032 ปีที่แล้ว
I first 'encountered' this man (whose records I always announced by his full name, Charles Alexander Landsborough) whilst presenting a weekly request show in the very early nineties. I can't think of anyone whose work was more consistently asked for. As time went by, I was privileged to meet him, and it didn't take me long to understand why? He is a beautiful balladeer, and his consideration to...

Another of the Charity evenings he hosted over the years, which - between them - sent some £30,000 to various local and national charities. This one took place on 18th February 1994. Do you recognise anyone on there? Look closely, you might

Thank you from Moscow.
That was uplifting! Set me up for the day, that has. Thanks!
I'm a gay 73 year old. I've always been open since I could ever remember. I CANT STAND these two. They make me cringe. Male high pitch voices and made up lies. Everything gay educated men detest. I'm not a leftist btw.
RIP John Clegg.
This is excellent interview With Windsor Davies
I don't know where those papers Iris's father was sent would have come from given Pierrepoint always said it was over instantly when the prisoner falls through the trap door.
Simply splendid - thank you. What marvellous men you both are !
Utterly delightful, thank you.. My dad was headteacher at Great Budworth school where the series was partly filmed. Great memories.
Hello Richard. I doubt you'll see this comment, but just in case you do I used to listen to you often on the regions when you were with the BBC. It's a shame it had to end but that's the way things go unfortunately. Sorry to hear about Betty. It would be great if you did a new show either here or elsewhere. God bless.
I'm his grandson, thank you very much for putting this on. I havnt heard it since it came out and I was only young then, so has been lovely to hear his voice again.
My pleasure and privilegs
I was lucky enough to sit in on one of Richards shows.after we did the Colchester fling.A most fascinating evening, multitasking at its best! Saturday nights have never been the same since. All the best Richard, and thank you for the memories.
Sadly missed , a real comedy genius 😢
He is my favourite G&S bass and enjoy his recordings. I only saw him in live performance once in Lofti Mansouri's production of The Mikado, Canadian Opera Company 1984.
Donald was such a kind gentleman in addition to his brilliance as a performer. I had the honor of working with him when he appeared as guest artist with Opera A La Carte in Los Angeles several times over the years. There was no "star" persona, just a fellow artist willing to do his part with the rest of the company and enjoying the opportunity to do G&S again, at a time when he was mostly doing grand opera at with major companies in America and Europe. We lost Donald far too young, still in his prime.
Mr Carter, Reg Urwin, with a U. 🥰😁
What a really wonderful interview, Lovejoy wouldn’t have been Lovejoy with Dudley playing tinker, what a refreshingly honest interview RIP Dudley ❤️ legend
Amazon lady and amazing interview ❤.
Great interview
I love the subtle, sly humor!
Sad to see that, despite such loyal service, Mr Evans must keep warm using only one bar of an electric heater.
Just wonderful. I had the pleasure of staying with George at his guesthouse in south France. He was very humble about their achievement. I think Hinge and Brackett are one of the best double acts ever
I always meant to do that...very glad to hear it was as I'd hoped it would be.
How sad that I'm the first post after 2 years. Roy Hudd was [sadly left us] an absolute star.
Rest in Peace 'Dear Ladies'. Much missed but never forgotten.
I’d no idea that Bryan Forbes was his stage name! Very interesting interview.
Interviews like this are precious. I always enjoy hearing the stories of the survivors. I agree with Eva (and Dr. Ballard) that the Titanic is a grave that should not be disturbed.
Interesting man.
What a delightful person. I really enjoyed Lovejoy. I watched it many years ago and again recently. Tinker is wonderful.
A wonderful beautiful voice and a very funny man
I love that hymn song eternal father
I was lucky enough to sit in on one of Richards shows in 1994 after the Colchester fling, it was fascinating.Good to know you are still communicating with us Richard. Saturday nights have never been the same since you went off air. You are very much missed.
So true. And true evil, as you said, has done it all.
What a lovey lady and I love her spirit. Wish i could have met her ❤️❤️Rest easy Eva Hart ❤️🌷
Great chat, beggars belief that so many haven't enjoyed it enough to hit the like!
Tinker was Dudley Sutton really, from what he mentions here.
I’d like to do some research on this case as even today, the pieces haven’t been properly pieced together. I wonder Richard, did the home secretary refer the appeal for clemency to the Queen?
I love this melody for Tina yes?
I keep missing you 😢
I am her but you are gone
Just found you, my internet has been down
Enjoyed this
So did I!
It might be worth getting a guest , doing an interview .
You need to share the youtube link on your page try and do a swaps on other peoples pages you post their link and they post your link . Best time the same as your old saturday show . We used to listen in bed usually on the boat often on cold nights in late autumn and early winter.
John Baynes: Unfortunately there was no Monday night show as Richard decided not to continue due to the small number of viewers/listeners.
It was not sufficiently pubicized?
Listened on Sunday Richard as not able to on Friday.Great to hear you again where you belong .Tried to get on tonights show but for some unknown reason was not able to -will try to listen tomorrow on catchup.Jackie and John Baynes
I met the school bully girl many years later just as she was about to take my blood donation. I regret to this day not telling her how she terrorised me at school, but on second thoughts she would probably made the donation more painful!
Good evening Richard
So good to hear voice again Richard, I used to Tune into your Radio Show on a Saturday Night without fail, and loved the Show, debates, opinions, etc; Such a loss to Radio, and Listeners, you not being there these days. Keep these ‘sessions’ going !
Really enjoyed Friday’s show, Richard. It would be nice to finish off with your signature piano tune too if possible please.

Loving This, it's Great hearing You again My Friend, it's been far too long. Looking forward to Friday 👍
