BUCKET LIST FIND #metaldetecting #uk
It was a crisp autumn day, the kind where the earth felt cool beneath your feet but the promise of discovery warmed your soul. We stood on the edge of one of your trusted local permissions, a place that had revealed countless treasures but still held many secrets beneath its rich soil.
This permission had been good to you in the past - countless copper coins, foreign curiosities from lands afar, and the occasional artifact that hinted at a deeper story. But today, there was an excitement in the air, a sense that something bigger was waiting. You all had felt it for a while. The local history spoke of ancient trade routes, medieval villages lost to time, and even wartime stories of soldiers moving through these very fields. The oldest discovery you'd made so far was Victorian coin, its details still sharp despite its age. But surely, you got to believe, older relics are buried here. Something more ancient, more significant, was waiting to be uncovered.
With detectors switched on and headphones in place, the familiar hum of machinery began to fill the air as you walked in practiced lines, sweeping the ground methodically. It wasn’t long before the first signal of the day came through - a high, clear tone. Could this be it? The find that would connect you to the long-forgotten past?
Digging carefully, revealing a tarnished copper coin, more copper coins, some from the reign of George V, others that seemed to have origins in far-flung places. Then, as the afternoon sun began to dip lower, casting long shadows over the field, you heard a different sound through your headphones a deeper, richer tone.
The ground gave way slowly as you carefully excavated the object, inch by inch. As the dirt was brushed away, something glinted beneath the surface. At first glance, it appeared to be brass, or maybe even gold, but as more was revealed, you realized it was something older than any coin you had found that day. It was a small, intricately detailed silver find.
As the light began to fade, you all stood there in quiet reflection, holding the find. It was a tangible piece of someone’s past, a life lived in this very place. And though the day's hunt was ending, you knew this land had more to offer. You could almost feel the presence of the past beneath your feet, waiting for the day when it would reveal itself fully.
You packed up your gear, already planning the next visit. There had to be more, you all agreed - older coins, perhaps Roman or medieval. Maybe even artifacts from a time when these fields were part of something far greater. And as for the wartime connection? It was still a mystery, but you were sure that with enough time and patience, the land would reveal its secrets.

Hi there! Nice findings and congratulations to your first musketball. I found a couple of those allready, lots of fighting during the napoleonic wars here in Germany. Unfortunately also during WW2, so there is a lot of unexploded ordnance in the ground you have to look out for. Is this a thing in the UK? Luckily i've only found rifle ammo and empty cases till now but a friend found a mortar grenade once and my father in law found a handgrenade just lying on the surface in the woods.
Thanks happy detecting :) Good to hear from German detectorists x
Hiya Gary Just catching up love the butterfly and nice D buckle. I shouted at the telly when you started scraping that coin with your knife. Chuffing heck 😂😂😂 Love the army badge and the Rangers great finds 👍 What a beautiful pendant has Debbie claimed it. Your in a roll with all those coins Thanks for sharing Happy hunting

Hej been to Barmouth many times on holiday from North Wales, caught some good Bass also. But nver used a metal detector there. Good video
Thanks :)
nice find well done
Thank you appreciated:)
nice find well done 1797 cartwheel
Thanks :)
This is not a good test because the coil is stationary it doesn't have to read to ground. Ok to mess around with if you're bored! 😂
Moving the coil or moving the target over the same soil = same result. The detector still reads the soil.
More history saved! Best wishes out there and happy hunting.
Thanks n happy to you too x
Llandudno north beach did try west shore beach
I’ve had numbers and tones like that but passed over them thinking it was aluminum
Yes agree- some targets are very similar in numbers and tones - so will try to dig as many as I can xx

I have a Garnett ace 250 what setting is good for beach searching
We don't have a Garrett Ace 250 so don't have the settings for that - but believe it performs better in dry sand than wet - perhaps someone here can advise
Did my best on Bridlington beach last week £2.92 :) .... Still cost me more to park !!
At least you tried to hit the parking costs lol x
