thanks man! :D There isn't really too many tips I can give tbh. Just keep practicing and keep making what you like. Follow simple tutorials and try to recreate at first and then try to make new things yourself with the new knowledge. Blenderguru is ofcourse a great place to start. And then you can slowly search the topics you want to learn. Goodluck!

Sometimes you just have to go for it, and at the end of the day getting top 100 is just based on someone else's opinion. What matters most is what you yourself put into it, and I can tell you put an awesome amount of effort into this one.

Hey, I'm pretty sure it wasn't disqualified. I rechecked multiple times. Can't be 100% sure of course, but yeah didn't make it. Maybe my story wasn't good enough or there wasn't enough action. Reaching top 100 is so subjective though. I can understand why it can happen and we may not agree with every entry but that shouldn't be the reason not to participate. I hope you join again next time! It took me 4 tries before I made it into top 100. And then I got 2nd place with my first top 100. Missed out on the next one again. Then top 100 again in the next one. Now I missed out again. Let's see what happens next time if I do participate :)

Building stuff from the ground up is a different level of fun and satisfaction, as it also gives it a unique look, much different from others. Glad you found the message at the end as well! :)

Thanks! Yeah it is a bit hard and annoying to get nice cloth sims. It is easy to get started with Marvelous Designer though, so you should definitely try it! It was even free for the challenge month.

Thanks! Yeah he is stealing a gem and the guards are following him. I had the idea that it is a magical gem but I did not have too much time to show any magical effects unfortunately.

@@ZeusCreates one more question. how do you do those screen wipes showing the progression of the scene?

@@jonniebrasco68 it's just a simple wipe effect in premiere pro. You just put 2 videos on top of each other and reduce the 2nd video's starting duration and add the wipe effect to it.

Optical flares plugin in After Effects

thanks! Yeah I should have mentioned them but this was quite a while back so I don't even remember much. I guess it was Graswald back then. But if I had to do it today, Geo scatter and Botaniq would be the choice!

Thanks Merlin! It's basically a plugin in After effects called Optical flares. Maybe you know about it. Super convenient and easy to use. Just tracked the luminance of the crystal emission and applied a custom lens flare on top! Btw I hope you are participating in the next one too. Your submission was nuts, I expected it to win honestly.

@@ZeusCreates nice one! There’s a bit of Andrew Kramer in all of us ;) I downloaded it recently but haven’t had the chance to use it much, great to see it in action. And cheers dude!
