Verse 1: जटाटवी-गलज्जलप्रवाह-पावितस्थले। गलेऽवलम्ब्य लम्बितां भुजङ्ग-तुङ्ग-मालिकाम्। डमड्डमड्डमड्डमन्निनादवड्डमर्वयं। चकार चण्डताण्डवं तनोतु नः शिवः शिवम्॥ 1॥ Meaning: Shiva, adorned with the river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, wears a long garland of serpents around his neck. As the damaru resounds with "Damad Damad Damad," he performs the fierce Tandava dance. May Shiva, the embodiment of auspiciousness, bless us with prosperity. Verse 2: जटाकटाहसंभ्रमभ्रमन्निलिम्पनिर्झरी। विलोलवीचिवल्लरीविराजमानमूर्धनि। धगद्धगद्धगज्ज्वलल्ललाटपट्टपावके। किशोरचन्द्रशेखरे रतिः प्रतिक्षणं मम॥ 2॥ Meaning: Shiva’s matted locks are decorated with the waves of the celestial Ganga, cascading beautifully. His forehead blazes with the fierce fire of his third eye, and the crescent moon adorns his head. I seek constant joy in worshipping this Shiva. Verse 3: धराधरेन्द्रनन्दिनी-विलास-बन्धु-बन्धुर। स्फुरद्दिगन्त-सन्तति-प्रमोद-मानमानसे। कृपाकटाक्ष-धोरणी-निरुद्ध-दुर्धरापदि। क्वचिद्दिगम्बरे(शि) मनो विनोदमेतु वस्तुनि॥ 3॥ Meaning: Shiva, the consort of Parvati (daughter of the mountain king), brings delight to her playful glances. He pervades all directions and is the source of universal joy. His compassionate glance removes the gravest troubles. May my mind always rejoice in this digambara (one who is clad in the sky). Verse 4: जटाभुजङ्गपिङ्गल-स्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभा। कदम्बकुङ्कुमद्रवप्रलिप्त-दिग्वधूमुखे। मदान्धसिन्धुरस्फुरत्वगुत्तरीयमेदुरे। मनो विनोदमद्भुतं बिभर्तु भूतभर्तरि॥ 4॥ Meaning: The glittering gem on the hoods of Shiva’s serpents emits a radiant light that decorates the heavens. His body, smeared with sacred kumkum, reflects his divine presence. May my mind delight in the wondrous Lord who sustains all beings. Verse 5: सहस्रलोचनप्रभृत्यशेषलेखशेखर। प्रसूनधूलिधोरणी विधूसराङ्घ्रिपीठभूः। भुजङ्गराजमालया निबद्धजाटजूटकः। श्रियै चिराय जायतां चकोरबन्धुशेखरः॥ 5॥ Meaning: The dust from the flowers offered by gods like Indra and others settles on Shiva’s feet, adding to their sanctity. He is adorned with a garland of serpents, and his locks are bound with divine energy. May this Shiva, the Lord of prosperity and the wearer of the crescent moon, bless us eternally. Verse 6: ललाटचत्वरज्वलद्धनञ्जयस्फुलिङ्गभा। निपीतपञ्चसायकं नमन्निलिम्पनायकम्। सुधामयूखलेखया विराजमानशेखरम्। महा-कपालि-सम्पदेशिरोजयालम् अस्तु नः॥ 6॥ Meaning: Shiva’s forehead shines brightly with sparks of fire capable of destroying Kamadeva (the god of desire). The crescent moon graces his head, adding serenity to his fierce form. May we be blessed by Shiva, the great wielder of the skull (Kapala). Verse 7: करालभालपट्टिकाधगद्धगद्धगज्ज्वल। द्धनञ्जयाहुतीकृतप्रचण्डपञ्चसायके। धराधरेन्द्रनन्दिनी-कुचाग्रचित्रपत्रक। प्रकल्पनैकशिल्पिनि त्रिलोचने रतिर्मम॥ 7॥ Meaning: Shiva, with his terrifying forehead glowing like blazing fire, has consumed Kamadeva with his third eye. The creative skill of the three-eyed Lord brings joy to the playful Parvati. May my mind always find delight in Shiva. Verse 8: नवीनमेघमण्डली निरुद्धदुर्धरस्फुरत्। कुहूनिशीथिनीतमः प्रबन्धबद्धकन्धरः। निलिम्पनिर्झरीधरस्तनोतु कृत्तिसिन्धुरः। कलानिधानबन्धुरः श्रियं जगद्धुरंधरः॥ 8॥ Meaning: Shiva, with his throat darkened like the evening clouds from consuming poison during the churning of the ocean, radiates calmness. He wears the crescent moon as his adornment. May this bearer of universal responsibility bestow prosperity on the world.
