I came here before going to bed to have Tay lulliby me to sleep with her exquisite version of this timeless Smith's classic. When u record stuff like this Tay you have no idea how far it will reach, who will enjoy it, and when and for what reason. Listening to you sing some of my favourite songs of all time (like this one) so simply, so beautifully and so effortlessly is one of the greatest pleasures in life. I could literally see myself playing your version on my deathbed. Sorry if that sounds morbid, but it isn't. Its a compliment. It just means that much to me and is so unbelievably beautiful.

I only knew this song from UB40. I never heard Neil Diamond sing it. Red Red Wine hit No. 1 in the US in the 80's. So I looked it up. Neil Diamond recorded it in the 60's. Amazing, I never knew it was a cover by UB40. Interestingly enough, I was 19 when UB40 covered it and was dating this cute short hair brunette from Baltimore MD at the time.
