The first shot: a great idea. And it would've been even greater if they could find a Class 08 diesel instead of those two :))
Watercress do have a BR black class 08 (08288), however, I think it would have been rather underpowered, considering the length of the train. Thanks for watching! 👍
@SouthernRailSpotter Their site informs they have three of Class 08 - 08288 and 08377 operational, and 08032 out of service. So there could have been two "Diesels" as "Thomas"'s back engines! :))
not a bad idea! 👍
My grandad spent some time on the Western Enterprise test trains as an engineer for Maybach I believe. I’d love to see one in person one day.
Oh wow! I’d loved to have had the chance to work on one of these, such beastly thing! Thanks for watching! 👍
hi mate. really good video. 506 didn't fail, 3781 was out purely in memory of Brit, the creator of TTTE, which 3781 carries the livery in. Good filming bud :)
Oh, I didn’t realise that. When I was at Meadstead And Four Marks, the station master informed me the 506 had suffered a failure, and was unable to make the last day of running. I was aware the Britt Allcroft had passed away very recently, so I maybe should have considered that when 3781 was hauling the service. Got to get that title changed now! Thank you very much for watching and I apologise for my mistake! 👍
@ don't apologise for ur mistake :) I doubted myself as well when I saw the title haha!!
Nice
Thanks!
Magnificent catch!
Thank you!
Merry Christmas! Superb catches and great location and tones at 6:30!
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too! 👍
Very nice catch looks beautiful!
Thank you!
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Merry Christmas to you too!
Awesome catch! Interesting to see a gbrf 66 on the logs!
I know! It was due to be a class 56, however colas for some reason decided to hire in 66792 from GBRf. I’ve only ever seen class 70s on the log train, so it was nice to get some variety! Thanks for watching! 👍
Nice scream from the 56!
Oh my god it was crazy! Thanks for watching! 👍
Magnificent!
Thank You!
That was great! Nice tones!
Thanks!
Superb catch nice tones too!
Cheers!
Thanks for the wave! I've seen a few spotters there once in a while, but never see the footage
You were driving? Oh awesome! This is the first time I’ve had a driver, who I’ve filmed, comment on one of my videos! It was an incredible tone you gave me. Are you operating that route again anytime soon? 👍
@SouthernRailSpotter I was indeed 😄 I had the same job yesterday (with 70020) and today (with 70014 again). I think I'm through there on Monday next 🤔 on 4M61
Ah nice! Is it just 70s you drive, or do you drive the 66s or 91s? I’m not going to be around Heyford until just after new year. If you have any jobs on the same route in early January, please let me know! I’m going to attempt to catch you on Monday, but I’m probably not going to have time. Thanks 👍
@SouthernRailSpotter I sign 66s and 70s (I prefer 70s though) and sure, no problem👍
Great video! I saw her at Slough.
Cheers! Nice! Was that the outward or the return run you got? I was going to catch her at Hayes and Harlington, but I decided against it because of the time, and because I was planning to see her at Bath anyway! 👍
A real choo-choo!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching! 👍
Probably on time not like the overcrowded trains that run now
Annoyingly, she was actually about 10 minutes late, meaning a nearly missed my train home. Amazingly though, I managed to get a seat on that train! Thanks for watching! 👍
Fab positioning and sound! Britannia was really belting along! Thanks for the great video!
No problem, really glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Like👍
Thanks!
Aweosme video!! They definitely weren't hanging about! 😂
No they definitely weren’t, yet after looking at the track diagram on OTT, they did have a few red signals on the approach to Oxford, as a GWR 165 was ahead. Thanks for watching! 👍
@@SouthernRailSpotter oh dear.. driver must have had a lot of faith in those brakes!! 🤣
@TrainGuy_2008 definitely!
Lovely video! Any idea why they're towing a diesel (looks to be a Class 47?) behind the train?
The Class 47 is used as extra motives power, eg. on steep inclines where the steam loco isn’t powerful enough on its own. It’s also used for if the steam loco breaks down, the tour can continue, yet under diesel power. Thanks for watching!
0:01 oh my god is that Thomas?!
Yes it is! 😂😂 3781 was offering driver experiences at Ropley for £20 each, sold out apparently within hours. They used Thomas because their Peckett 0-4-0 Kilmreson is at The Cholsey & Wallingford Railway for the winter. Thanks for watching! 👍
Awesome compilation!! Always love a good tone or two.. I also realise I'm not the only one who jumps at most tones! 🤣 Awesome little short - loved the 70 horns the most honestly!
Thanks! I mean the 70 tones were cool. To be honest my favourite was from the Slovenske Železnice Flirt I saw in Slovenia, but UK wise, it would have to be the Voyagers. They make such a noise! Who knows, there may be a part 2 out later this year, I’ve not used all the ones I recorded! Thanks for watching!
@@SouthernRailSpotter yeah, I just personally love the horns 70s have.. always have, always will! 😎 Yeah that FLIRT horn was cool.. probably mainly because it wasn't from the UK - always nice to have a break from our trains every once in a while haha! Ooh, well I look forward to seeing that if/when you do make the video! :)
Great that you have so many train types in your country. Unfortunately in my post Soviet still neighbors killing country we have like two or three which travel daily 😢. Thanks and enjoy 👍🏼
Ohh interesting, which country are you from? I’m glad you enjoyed, Thanks for watching! 👍
@@SouthernRailSpotter Russia
@raimondtracar8703 Oh awesome! I’ve always wanted to visit Russia, I hear that the rolling stock is mostly Ex-Soviet, which I’d love to see!
Lovely ex Caledonian tank.
Oh isn’t she just! Thanks for watching!
Lovely ex GWR prairie.
Indeed, far better than a large prairie in my opinion, they’re to big and boxy. Thanks for watching!
TH-cam Mary and jesus in the Qur'an and Mohammad in the Torah and the Bible and the scientific miracles of the Qur'an and Mohammad in Hindu scripture
Ok? 😂
Lovely black 5.
Oh absolutely, thanks for watching!
Who has asked Railtrack to relay rails so that platforms have to have “Mind the gap” on STRAIGHT platforms. Totally crazy
It’s probably something to do with clearance for high speed passenger or freight services. Don’t quite me on it though. Thanks for watching!
I take it you're back off your holiday now? Either way, this was a great clip with a nice tone! 😄
This was actually there first train of the holiday! But yes I’m back now, sadly. I’m going to be uploading new shorts from each section of the journey, everyday next week, which will take a while. I’ve still got to edit some clips from onboard the trains, but I should have them all up by the end of next week! Thanks for watching! 😀👍
@@SouthernRailSpotter oh right, I thought this might've been the first clip of you being BACK! 😂 I look forward to watching all those clips.. don't get too bored uploading them all! 🤣
@TrainGuy_2008 trust me, I will! 😂
She's absolutely beautiful.
Oh absolutely! Easily one of the prettiest mainline diesels in the UK. Thanks for watching! 👍
Great bit of filming, but the Woodhead Route should have become the country's foremost mainline heritage railway. It was there for grabs, complete with all lines, stations, bridges, tunnels, signal boxes. Above all, it connected two big cities. Every enthusiast in the country would have donated for such a project. There's still time, but now it would have to be rebuilt from scratch.
Thanks, It was a really good day out! Didn’t know about this Woodhead line, but you’ve peaked my curiosity. Will definitely need to read up on it! Thanks for watching! 👍
Awesome. Still can't believe that I haven't yet visited the GC. Need to make that happen!
Absolutely, it’s a wonderful railway! Thanks for watching! 👍
LNER
Indeed!
That Western looks and sounds as good as ever!
Indeed she does! Thanks for watching! 👍
Good video. Could you explain the title of this video please, 'The Worlds only mainline heritage railway'.
Of course! The Great Central, unlike other heritage railways in the uk, is equipped with a section of double track (between Loughborough and Rothley), meaning that visitors have the rare opportunity to see heritage trains passing each other at speed. Due to the railway having that section of double track, it is technically classed as a mainline railway, and unlike any other heritage line, it has a maximum operating speed of 75 MPH, instead of the usual 25 MPH. The original line went as far south as London Marylebone, and as far north as Manchester Victoria before it was cut up during Dr. Beechings nationalisation programme in the 60s/70s. This is the only example of a mainline heritage railway on the planet, hence its nickname! Glad you enjoyed the video, it was definitely one of my favourites to film! Hope my answer was helpful! 👍👍
@@SouthernRailSpotter I have to admit I don't know a lot about GCR obviously so I am glad I asked. Thank you for explaining.
@rmarsh401 No problem! 👍
Very nice, like.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
Wow good..beautifully 👍❤
Thank you! 👍
She sounded brilliant there! 😍
I know! What a machine, the power from that exhaust!
@@SouthernRailSpotter yeah, beastly things for sure! 😍
Awesome shots! I saw her in Junction but then I went to Chester for the 57+60 tour and stupidly forgot about this returning and didn't manage to film it. 🫤 Anyway, amazing catches as always mate - loved them!
I was going to head to Chester to see 57306, but I decided to head to the Race Course bridge where I saw 44871 this morning, but missed her by about 30 secs! Not the start I would have wanted, however I know that I am passing through LLJ at some point this week! I’m going into town to see the trams, but I’ll see if I can stop off at LLJ for a bit!
@@SouthernRailSpotter ah, did you not see the 57/60 tour then..? I saw her in the morning but then completely forgot about her returning and booked tickets back to Junction so I got two videos; steam leading and diesel leading.. which were good videos at least. We've got the Northern Belle on Saturday, so if you're nearby then - pop in and say hello; I'll be there! 😎😂
@@TrainGuy_2008 I don’t know, I might be visiting the Llangollen line on the Saturday. I know that I’m coming to Llandudno tomorrow to ride on the Tramway, but I don’t know when exactly. The Midland Pullman and The Statesman are also coming through LLJ this week. Are you not going to see them?
@@SouthernRailSpotter forgot to mention those tours! Yeah, I'll be seeing Midland Pullman tomorrow and Statesman on the return on Wednesday 👍 Enjoy your stay down this way; if/when you are in Llandudno Junction, let me know and if I'm nearby I might pop in.. if you don't mind of course! 👍
@@TrainGuy_2008 Of course I don’t mind! Been in town today on the Great Orme Tramway and am going to be on the 15:42 Transport for Wales service to Manchester Airport. I’m not going to be stopping off at LLJ, but I’m definitely passing through!
Great captures :)
Thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
nice video and good job
Thank You, glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I saw her at West Byfleet.
As I have seen! She was really putting down power along the down line, incredible noise! Sorry I’ve not had a chance to comment on your video yet. Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@SouthernRailSpotter You're welcome and thank you.
That railtour was amazing 👏
It definitely was!
@@SouthernRailSpotter I know right!
I've seen it at Upwey
Oh Cool! Was that on today’s tour, or something else?
@@SouthernRailSpotter today's!
@Harrys.trainadventures Awesome, will check out your video and subscribe!
Cheers!
@@Harrys.trainadventures No problem! she really opened up through the station in your video, what an incredible noise. A well earned subscription!
Who filmed this.. was this one you or was the other angle you?? 😂 Great shot.. couldn't help but notice the little wind wiper going crazy haha
This was filmed by brother, he sometimes helps out on shoots when I can’t film some of the shorts.
@@SouthernRailSpotter ah okay, cool! 🙂 Always good to have someone who can help you with spotting.. my brother sometimes films things for me but not very often
