Sugar Hiccup is one of the pioneers of Filipino Shoegaze and Dream Pop formed in 1993. They released their first album, Oracle with the carrier single Five Years in 1995. Vocalist Melody del Mundo with her ethereal and haunting voice, was paired with Czandro Pollack's dreamy guitars that have marked a distinct sound for the band. Oracle was followed by another album, Womb released in 1998. Twenty years later, the band released their final album, Closure. Sugar Hiccup remains to be one of the most celebrated 90's bands in the Philippine alternative music scene to this day.

This was our first band rehearsal on August 16, 2015 as we prepare for our shows for our reunion that year. This was the first time we’re playing together (after 14 years), since our last show together in 2001. Five Years (and the entire album as a whole) is such a treasure. Imagine a song without lyrics yet you get the message across. Such, such a sound so powerful. First time I heard this I know instantly…it’s life, death intertwined into a beautiful Melody. ❤
