i have a different take. i think reflex wise, you can in the beginning and right before they separate the fox has the quickness to get in there and do damage, it just doesn't have the will to absorb the scratch - if it was protecting it's children..different type of fight i think

The autofocus on these is terrible. My 823A has the firmware fix and 4 seconds is crazy. The camera needs to have an internal function that memorizes the focus adjustment for each zoom level. There is no reason it can't use a table to map the approximate translation between the two and perform a fine focus if required.

we have a female fox and two young ones who spend most of the time at the edge of yard. they do not bother our cats but she did scream at the neighbors cat because he was in her path. He didnt even care andjust looked at her.

Had the same thing happen in my garden. Well, sort of. The fox didn't actually do much but the the neighbours cat, who's a bit of a brawler anyway, decided to make the fox aware of the local ground rules.....by engraving them on its face. Oh, there was a helluva lot of noise, like something being killed, but fortunately both walked away from it. They regularly encounter each other, almost every night in fact. But now the fox knows that cats are small, cuddly, incredibly well armed and totally psychotic, he keeps both a respectable and the ability to see. All worked out well.
