for every humanlike enemy in nearly the whole series its always better to run around them in circles to the right and forwar and to dodge into them to the side where they are not swinging with. That makes it so that you are way better positioned to fight back, you cant really rely on staggering every enemy with that straight sword r1s. Sure it might seem scary to be all up in the enemys face, but usually all the enemys have range on you, so you need to be the one to get close, espacially for bigger enemys ofc. Also dont worry about the mechanics with usuable items too much, just lvl up vigor some more, helps so much.

Soo, for context, I have over 2k hours on soul series. Let me help you out. 1. The invader is an NPC, since you are playing offline, these are the only invasions you will encounter. 2. The main utility of an ember is so you can summon people to help you and as a balancing feature, you have invaders. 3. The increased hp from ember is almost a placebo, just put few more levels into Vigor. 4. You won't learn this game without dying A LOT. You don't learn by fighting, but by dying. 5. Playing offline robs you of extra content in form of these invasions, the only people left playing are mostly so good that they don't have a reason to completely trash on new players. And only people with "meta" builds are usually bad anyways. 6. If you get invaded by a player and die or kill them, it starts a 15/20 minute timer during which you can't get invaded again. This unfortunately for you doesn't apply to NPCs. 7. The invading NPCs drop rare items which you can't get anywhere else. (spells, weapons, etc.) 8. As a host (if you were to play online) you can enter the way of blue covenant (given to you by that eldery woman sitting on the chair on the opposite side of the Vordt boss arena), this summons extra blue players to your world if you get invaded by people to protect you. Plus you have more stats and estust cos invaders are scaled to your level and have their estus halved in number. 9. The invaders are by far the easiest thing you will fight out there. 10. So to sum up, you need to stop being so upset about the game in order to enjoy it, the game is fair, you just need change your mindset. I have learned that no matter how many tries it takes, eventually YOU win. It took me over 100h to finish the game for the first time. I have died over 40 times to the tutorial boss when I started. You can't complain about the invaders without even trying to fight them. Don't give up and don't you dare go hollow.
