Getting My Display Base Ready for Our Livestream
I'm amazed by the accessories that can be created by the 3-D printers. It almost makes me wish that I collected Star Trek.
There is some ape stuff available too. I may have to do an episode on that. =)
@@casualcrafter Please don't. I get jealous rather easily. 😉
The CTVT Yvonne body is fantastic. I have one for my Nova. Nice work on Princess Ariel. Brian Leitner does amazing work. I bought many an outfit from him back in 2007-2008 when I made customs of just about every member of the JLA and their enemies. In fact I think I have a Marvel 3-D Man outfit in one of my storage boxes.
Yeah, he makes fantastic outfits. I know, I have several too.
Thats really cool, that light is awesome.
Thanks! I was surprised at how small lights can be now-a-days. =)
This is great - Those eyes look fantastic! 😃🖖
Thanks, Richard. =)
Really excited about seeing this one. I loved the Thundarr cartoon as a kid. You did an amazing job with the 1st 2, I was waiting on this one. Amazing figures for a collection. I was curious as to what body you'd use for her. I think you made a great choice with her body. Is there a reason for that hole in the bottom inside of her hair?
Thanks. Good eye! There is a bump that is created by the snap on her outfit. I tried to create a hole to accommodate this and ended up making a crack. You can't see it when she is put together though.
@@casualcrafter That's an awesome fix. I don't think I would have thought of that.
I subscribed to your channel and have been binge-watching your videos, now I plan on giving Classic Toys a big chunk of my money. Starting to work on a Punisher and Peacemaker figures. Thanks for sharing your hobby I am hooked!
Thanks for subscribing and welcome to the addiction. =)
I really liked Thundarr as well! So much that I bought the series on DVD. Your customs look great!
I picked up a Gemini as well!
You can paunt the Moccasin Mix some craft paint water and Textile Medium vin a cup and paint them
You should be Costume Designer For Marvel Studios C&C
Nice comparison of all the jackets, and customizing... That black jacket looks nice!
You should see it in person. It looks so good I'm ordering a couple of the plain black tunics.
@@casualcrafter 😞
I’m doing a custom BELE Star Trek figure playmates from let this be your last battlefield. I’m using acrylic paint. I’m a little worried. It’s Apple barrel. It’s never let me down before just once, but I don’t know the subject was right so any suggestions?
Is the head vinyl, a resin print, or a casting?
@ all original figure
@@Captaintoymantis So a resin print?
@@casualcrafter maybe I said this one wrong I bought a vintage playmates Star Trek figure and I’m going to paint that Star Trek figure nothing altered from the original figure
@@Captaintoymantis So, the head is made out of vinyl?
Turned out fabulous!!
Thank you, Ted. :)
Really turned out great! Hope those Classic TV Toys vests hold up. Heard lots of horror stories about them falling apart. I have a bunch of the Dr Mego ape vests. Still holding up over 10 years later. I knew Dave too. He was a good friend. I worked with Dave on his 1/6 Starsky and Hutch project. Miss him too.
Yeah, that orange one for the custom I put together for Jspy fell apart in my hands. Dave was a very interesting soul and he is missed in the customizing community. =)
@@casualcrafter I had a blue General tunic that fell apart when I took it out of the baggie. Quite disappointing. But now that you've played guinea pig, I'll order one or two of the black tunics.
This may sound random, but I'm about 7ish minutes in watching you show the heads. I've seen some doll customizers add hair to their customs. Have you ever thought about doing that with some of these apes so they have a furry look & feel to them? They look great at the end. Love that general's head.
I have thought about doing something with flocking. That may be something I explore.
@@casualcrafter That sounds cool. Good luck if you choose to do it.
I also struggle to get those three-toed boots onto the figures! The all-black General here is a stand-out, but they both look great! Always happy to see more apes... 🙂🖖
These are great. and yeah the fabric looks way better.
Right? It drapes so well, and the textures are really neat.
I bought CTVT apes suits in the last, and the gloves wore away straight out of the packaging. The same with the leather jackets they used to sell.
That stinks. I hope these last. =)
I have too many TH-cam subs so I don’t always see your new episodes but I just wanted to take a sec and say, “I really dig your channel and your presentation skills. Keep making shows because you’re a valuable resource for us new guys to making custom Mego figs.” Keep showing us cool techniques and maybe demo some new products too. ✌🏼✊🏼
Going to finally make my first order from them now that they seem to have fixed the issue with Ape clothing. I am sure that I will be getting quite a bit from them. I would like to make an animated series version of the Ape’s and Astronaut’s and possibly the Underdwellers. Not sure what color to make their hooded robes. Maybe silver or blue?
Which underdwellers?
I just noticed the Beneath the Planet of the Ape's atomic bomb in the background. Very nice.
Thanks. =)
A lot better than the old 1974 Megos.
I don't know about better, but certainly different. I guess I have a nostalgic affection for the originals. =)
General Ursus or Urko that sideways glance is awesome.
Right?
Neat stuff
These machines continue to amaze me! And these PLA printers seem particularly ideal for scenery and diorama pieces. JDs 3D model is brilliant, and your wood-effect on the tabletop a superb and effective idea. Really, really neat. 😃🖖
That throne for Phantom is great. For removing supports, I often use a cheap old pocket knife thats pretty dull, but it breaks it away safely. of all my chairs like that, I think I have 2 that have never broken, it cause they are made so thin at that point. I love drydex, I use it to gap fill all the time. So this is the desk for private quarters, I am going to putting out Dr. McCoys desk, as well as the round tables from the Mess Hall. lol. That wood effect worked great. I need to make you a little sticker for the desktop screen. haha
Thanks, JD. 😀
I got the Mego stand from Thingaverse to download and print today, but it was a pain to get all the supports off. Left a bit of a mess afterward.
Has Dan ever said what he’s using to print the suits?
I did a livestream with him for a Captain Planet Custom and he spoke about his suits.
@ Cool, thanks!
It's genuinely nice to see someone with a set up this crusty do this good of a job. Because my set up looks the same honestly.
Oh, it's crusty alright. I'm ready to throw out all those old brushes and start fresh this new year. :)
Looks fantastic, you could dye the shoes. brilliant use of the lion tail. I recommend checking out the new movie, I enjoyed it.
Chalk up another success! This Kraven is amazing... Your journey with customising is great to be following - from painting to building dioramas, to the Cricut machine and 3D printing, and now to producing your own garments - I learn so much. And I agree about the available colour range for the 8" figure bodies - We could do with a few more. At the moment, I do paint the wrists, ankles and neckline, if the clothes are a little short or open in those areas, but painting the whole body shouldn't be a regular task with these guys. Keep 'em coming, please! 🖖😃
Thanks again, Richard for your kind words. =)
He got the winter farmer's tan. LOL Seriously, though, I absolutely love that lion sticker. Great job all the way round this one. I enjoyed this video.
Yeah, I wish there were more color options on those bodies. Their tan body is even more pale looking.
You can always go over the bodies with Flesh Contrast Paint By Citidial
Nice thing about mini Spring Clamp and pieces of wax Paper
Good idea using a Wood Dowel in the inside to help press the the Fux Fur down
Wear Disposable Gloves when working with it I know I use that Putty allot
1/9 scale is my favourite for custom figures.
It's very niche though. =)
I agree. I’ve actually been making a few 3D printed heads using PLA. Not as great as resin probably would be but they’ve turned out fairly nice especially when I follow your techniques for painting. So far I’ve made one of our local mayor and our member of provincial parliament, and I’m working on making a Jim Rockford from The Rockford Files.
@@vintagetoykid9682 I hear that AI will now take a photo and make a 3d sculpture from it.
Yes, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. It leads to mixed results but more often than not you get a pretty good likeness of the person you want to turn into a custom Mego.
Very nice Kraven! By the way, I greatly appreciate the way you always give links to items and how to with cricket and 3d printing.
Glad to help! If you ever have a question about a custom, or need help sourcing, let me know. =)
Finally got these figures for my collection.
Aren't they great? I hope we get more TOS Star Trek stuff. I hear a Trelane may be coming?
Great job! Wow!
Thank you!
This figure is at least as good as the mego one. If you never get one from mego, it won’t matter a bit!
Thanks! I still want to pick up a set though. =)
Ive never seen the movie but you guy looks fantastic!!
Thank you, Jim. =)
Super cool! Fantastic job on this one - Assembling all the parts, producing the design on the costume and, as always, a great paint job! Your work just gets better and better. 🙂 🖖
Thank you! Cheers!
Cool. Never had any of these. For some reason I always thought this was a cartoon.
Wow!! He looks fabulous!!! Another home run CC!!
Thank you. =)
Very cool! I really like those figures. That painted jacket looks interesting. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year CC!!
Thanks! You too!
‼️(queue 8:56) *Brilliant* to repair the inner FTC elastic with the hooks and the ☆Weed Whacker vinyl line☆! Smart! 🗿I use pipe cleaners, yet need to add an extra (temporary), short rubber band inside the FTC-elastics (that I remove after the repair) because the pipe cleaner wire can risk tearing the too-tightly-stretched FTC elastic... very wise hack, Steve! Genius 🎓🎉!
(A 4.5mm crocket hook also works for puling the elastic-wire hook mechanics through the leg-arm holes.)❤👍🏾
The nylon line really lets me get a grip to pull those stubborn o rings into place.
Could even paint it first with Apple Barrel yellow then the CITI DIAL This to save some money
Good idea. :)
Yellow dies cover wrll thats why Paint it White first
Yeah, a white base would have saved an extra coat of yellow.
I would tey neon Paint from Royal Langley Nickel. This paint it with first You can buy a Set at Wally Mart for Five Dollars
The adkesh looks great C&C Something about Citidai Flesh Tones look better
Try to have one Pin thats blunted And one Sharp I also live to use ToothPick for real small detail and drawing lines or lettering
Who made the custom McClane you have a link?
For what should be a simple mask, this was some work to not bleed the paints. This looks fantastic, I just watched the new Kraven the hunter, have you made him yet? he's one of my favorite Spider-man villains.
I am actually working on a Kraven. =)
Looks great !!
Glad you liked it. =)
