Welcome to "Outdoor ADV",
My name is Ray, I love the outdoors and camping has usually accompanied most of my outdoor experiences.
Along the way I have learned a lot of valuable lessons, the hard way, so you don't have to... I did it all for you :)
My outdoorsmanship includes a massive amount of respect for Nature, and the way things really work.
In addition to a lifetime of being outdoors, and gathering good ol country boy skills, I also graduated from Air Force SERE school which instilled a lot of confidence in my abilities.
Being in the great outdoors is a very healthy way to unwind and relax, "get back to Nature", and no matter how it's done, it usually adds to a lifetime of experiences that you will cherish.

Those spider stoves that burn any fuel is used a lot by those that travel through areas with limited supplies of fuel.
Wild Camping in Scotland: no animal predators, but close to the cities: junkies, who are likely to rob you, and other people doing illicit/indecent things. Like you said, the further from civilization you are, the quieter time you'll have of things. We can't carry guns here, or even camping/bushcraft knives longer than 3 inches, but, as a woman, it doesn't mean I'm completely vulnerable. A rattan Bo staff costs £40, looks like a walking staff (or just a big stick, so the Police won't pick you up for having an illegal weapon), and it only takes half a day to learn 4 key moves on how to give someone a serious headache (or break a couple of bones), should they decide to ignore a warning not to come closer than they should. Even flailing wildly works...I'm 5,9 and so is my staff...you'd be surprised how hard it is to approach or subdue a pissed-off woman swinging a stick around (if you don't have a gun, which most here don't). :}
what I have found helpful is wrap your spare tubes in duct tape to keep the tubes from getting wear marks from dirt and sand causing small leak holes. it also gives you a place for tape without having to bring a role. I pack the same. not over pack but I def have creature comforts on my trips

✌️🇺🇸 Hola Ray, Thank you for the pass the time ideas at camp 🚐🏕🚐 Just wanna get the message out 👀✌️🎊🇺🇸Get your pre planning of: the United States will soon commemorate its 250th birthday, or Semi quincentennial, celebration. I would think about adding small wire cutters for fences. Everything is so organized but I would make a dedicated fire kit. Your fire supplies are spread out in the pack. Maybe some extra cash you can store in the knife sharpening kit behind the plates. A neck gaiter is useful. Leuko tape. A charging cord for the 3 major charging cord styles. Anti chaff stick. Contractors bags. A flare stick. A sniper veil for camouflage. A map of your county or state. Dyneema thread for sewing. Dedicated sunglasses to the bag.
@@RE4SHADOW thanks for watching 👍🏼 I think youve got some good additions.
Great video! When we camp with family our tradition has become to make food the event. Big breakfast, big lunch, big dinner. It helps ground the day, and sets a schedule. Wake up, make breakfast, eat, clean up. Couple hours pass. Prep lunch, cook, eat, clean up. Couple hours pass. Prep dinner, cook, eat, clean up. Then by this point you're getting the fire going, and the day is waning. So if you find your time is loose, consider packing in some proper recipes that take some time. I love cooking enough as it is, but cooking outside just hits differently, especially if you're cooking for others too. And to me camping is about connection, and that includes connecting with your food. So leave your comfort zone, if you aren't much of a cook, and try something new.
Thank you for the video. It really covered the quiet that can be found camping. People don’t understand why I solo camp because they think something must be happening all of the time. Cheers and safe travels

I will say these are very good tips, but all I can think of is how paranoid Americans are compared to other places. A lot of Americans just assume everyone is out to get them or malicious. Maybe things are different down there and that’s reality. In Canada, a lot of these things would never be a concern. Obviously common sense takes precedent though, but it is interest to see our cultural differences
@@j.p.6228 thank you for watching and leaving a comment 👍🏼 America is different, like you said… it was founded by freeing itself from government/oligarchical oppression. Americans believe in freedom from government oppression and fought for that. So America is full of people willing to fight for what they want… and sometimes that fighting is amongst each other. Americans pride themselves on being the land of the free, although it doesn’t seem that way right now. Freedom isn’t something you fight for once, it is something you must defend every day. So Americans are fighters… sometimes that spirit turns on each other, but for the most part it is what defines the country itself and the reason why so many people have immigrated to it. I know Canadians have always been a passive people… but the beauty of the world exists in its differences, in its variations and we wouldn’t want a world where everything was gray and the same.
If you're THAT concerned....just stay home!

I always carry a gun, a knife, a couple of cans of bear-spray, always tell trusted loved-ones exactly where you are camping. I agree with this young man, trust your gut feelings! If you see beer cans, alcohol bottles, needles, things of that nature, leave immediately. Never camp alone, it's sort of boring. I always bring my dog, since my dog is my best friend. The extra tent is good too, or use the tent to store things, sleep in your truck or van for security. Always have escape routes. Stand your ground, don't take crap, don't act weak.

@@walterriebe1823 which god? Yours, theirs, the ancient ones that are not spoken of anymore? God is a concept, made up by man, written about by man, and believed in by man. A word about the Decoy Tent; Don't make it a small 2 man model. You can get a 4 man dome off C-list for next to nothing, but 2-man might actually cost more because they're generally made for more dedicated users and are a better tent. A bigger tent tells others that there is more than just one extra person nearby. Could be several. My personal solo tent is 7x8ft and 6'8" high. I haven't done the decoy thing myself because I'm pretty intimidating 9been told), and, very wary. As to firearms, when I get to a spot and I haven't seen anyone on the way in, I usually fire off several rounds in a safe direction, just to let others nearby know that I'm there. If I hear vehicle noise at any time while I'm there, I fire off several more, very quickly. Then I listen. If the noise stops then goes away - all the good. If not, I fire off many more. It almost always results in solitude. I don't mind if others think I'm unpredictable. Sometimes, I hear a signal honk, then they come closer, letting me know they are there. That type usually results in a friendly conversation and good neighbors. Along those lines, if I'm alone, I wear a big shiny stainless revolver that I'm well practiced with. Anyone entering my camp or even from a distance, will see it. If they keep coming, they'll see it unholstered. It made an impression on two meth heads one time, who left immediately.
@@2TrackMind-c6i thanks for watching and sharing how you do it… 👍🏼
@@RLittle1 It just makes sense when you're camping with a vehicle. Those cheap Coleman 4 man domes don't take up much space and they setup quick. No need to do anything extra - just the four corners on the ground is all that's needed to project a larger group. hang an extra towel or backpack on it.
Great looking forward to them

I also would trade the second headlamp with the equivalent or less weight with a couple of chemlights , if a super EMP , got your lights burnt , by the way your hand light seemed a Surefire to me , that is a top and excelent choice , is it a surefire ?
