But the problem is that you're not telling people how to master accents; you're telling people that if they knew how to produce all the vowels sounds in the correct way corresponding to and mimicking each accent, then they could master accents. Let me be succinct. If you make the shape of 'ooo' of U, and you know how that feels. When you hear that sound in another language or accent, you can make it again to mimic that accent.

Have you ever considered that some people might just know more about a topic than you do, or is being annoying your sole personality trait?

@@1Dr490n actually the classical elementary pronunciation rule of upper and lower case is first basic rule of pronunciation before diacritical markings are introduced into education. It is a simplification of pronunciation differentiation. Much more common before the degradation of our educational system lead to all manner of grammatical errors flagrant across social media. Look to your history. Look to your basics.

Actually. Form those vowels, pay attention to the tongue and jaw position, and make not of it. Then say the word coin slowly as I have said it. You will find the position in there. If not, you're doing it wrong. Coin starts with tongue back and mouth open. It slides through all possible musculature positions before ending up tongue fully forward and mouth closed.

​@@singingfromscratch_officialThat completely ignores the fact that vowel sounds are not based on musculature, but formant frequencies. Even if we ignore ɚ which has low f3, vowels are based on a two-dimensional graph. You simply aren't getting all of those sounds with one diphthong.

While this topic is not my expertise, the vowel transitions in this word did indeed not resonate with the claim. Dutch, my native language, uses 40 phonemes. Particularly /3i/, /œy/, /Y/, /y/, /û/, /a:/ are not in the word coin, neither when pronounced slowly.

Everyone is different for sure. And everyone has their level of comfort. But I'm coming from a place of experience. And from my experience the level of anxiety is commensurate with the level of confidence in what you are performing. That and your level of acceptance of whatever the audience reaction is--good or bad. I do get a rush before going on stage, but it's more excitement than anything. The only time I get nervous is if I feel I'm ill-prepared. For example. I was singing lead on a song at the Shrine Auditorium in LA to an audience of about 10K in the venue and broadcast. I knew the song cold. Walked the stage before hand and knew the lay of the land. But I had stage-fright. Literally. Because they changed the entrance to walking down a set of stairs, center-stage, while singing to the crowd. I wasn't prepared and all I could think was that I was going to trip and fall. Didn't. Made it down and the stage fright went away. Key is, I wasn't prepared. Amateurs practice until they get it right. Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong. Karaoke is practicing singing songs in front of a crowd.

lol! Well keep trying. Eventually, one of these times you will not chicken out. karaoke is where you are supposed to be an amateur.

I agree. It actually creates a sort of backfire situation where the air and resonance puts pressure on the larynx.

Well you only crack once at a specific place in your range. high and low comes with practice and training. I know that sounds boring, but it could be as simple as singing along with songs and/or notes of songs that are a bit out of reach for you. Keep stretching for the notes and eventually you will get there.

@@ItsRandomlyRae lord I hope so. Back when I went to school in Texas the arts were HUGE. UIL competition was fierce and the best of the best went head to head. Makes American idol look like a daycare. I was All State choir, solo, and ensemble. All state band and theatre. And I had to work for it. That experience got me into the US Air Force Band and Tops In Blue. Then went on to a whole bunch of stuff in Los Angeles and the world really. Some of the best experiences of my life and the coolest people I ever worked with come from the direct result of being afforded the opportunity of arts in school. It is that important.

Or, for the sake of artistic effect and to punctuate the meaning of the song, it is left unfinished. But not normal. As far as culture determining preference, no doubt.

Absolutely! But it is usually not the commanding theme unless the songs purpose is to create a sense of dread, fear, or anxiety in the listener. Easily found as the backing music in horror movies.

Agreed. There is music for every mood. But even in the apparent chaos of chaotic music, there is a pattern. There is a structure.

That is true. There are many performers who can't sing well and vice versa. Stage fright (no matter the audience) is not native to people. Usually there was someone who made the child introvert and think that it is better to be seen than heard.
