Didn't get an awful lot of tracktime but mid to high 41s. Should really be in the low 41s but couldn't use all the track with the kart cutting out over rumble strips and no real setup. Still trying to find the optimum settings on D5s.

Yeah I was using another different case so wanted to see if it was a better fit like the original, bit preoccupied prepping the kart to remember 😬

Discretion of officials I suppose. Lydd's club is set to go MSA sanctioned as of the Summer season in April rather than running as an independent club, and MSA doesn't allow the use of cameras (for protest/decisionmaking/insurance policies I assume).

Hey, thanks for the reply. As a black flag means 'end of race, report to the clark of the course', I was confused as to why you finished the race. It looks like you may have been a bit frustrated that a couple of karts nipped by. At least you put your arm up in admission so fair play. As you seem to be a hardened veteran at this event by all your videos, I, along with others no doubt, would be interested in knowing... 1) as most of us have only had 10 minute stints - how do you endure with one hour straight? 2) do you drive at 95% except when dicing? Or do adopt a different strategy? 3) how do your wrists cope? 4) I noticed one of your karts had problems with understeer - in general are the karts pretty evenly matched? Thanks Will!

Hi :) , for these corporate hire kart races at Buckmore a black flag is commonly used as a penalty flag and not disqualification like you may see at other tracks or forms of motorsport. To answer your questions: 1.) Before I first did a one hour stint I was slightly worried as to how I'd cope as up until then I'd only done 30-40 min stints at another track (Q Leisure/Brighton Karting) which was much more physical. All depends on the track really. Thankfully at Buckmore there are plenty of straights where you can take a break, but some circuits (especially indoor ones) are very physical as you're constantly going into corner after corner. For Buckmore it isn't too bad, if you're in a battle or chasing someone the time FLIES by. 2.) I would say I generally go flat out most of the time as there's always a bonus point for the fastest lap, but if I'm in the lead and have a decent gap I'll probably drive at about 80%. 3.) Sometimes I have to peel my hands off the wheel or use an object to straighten my fingers out after a race! Most of the time it's not too bad though, I would refrain from using the grooves for your fingers on the steering wheel as I found this made the problem worse. When you're driving it's important to be as relaxed as possible so try to keep as light a grip as possible, this often helps. 4.) At Buckmore I would say karts are maintained fairly well, laptimes are often incredibly close in qualifying. I've had it a couple of times where I've qualified 6th and been less than two tenths off a front-row start! That being said I've had my fair share of dogs :P (I had a bad one in qualifying yesterday and swapped for the race, started from the pits and went 34th to 4th! Definitely worth watching that one it's up on my channel!) but as these karts are used for arrive and drive sessions frequently by people who more often than not have no clue what they're doing it is to be expected some will be more beaten than others. Buckmore have a lot of spare karts thankfully should there be an issue. Hope that helps! :)

Ok that all makes sense. Thanks for all the info! I saw the '34th to 4th' video first which is where I heard you complaining of understeer with the first kart before the race started. Good drive by the way! A couple of us are thinking about doing the race at Buckmore next month, so may see you there!

GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition. I don't think it's made anymore so the only place to find it is eBay. Similar to Hero 4 but a bit cheaper.

Yeah you're right, recently part of the quick-release buckle clip part snapped so it's not quite so solid. It's a bit of a pain because the only way to get clips that definitely fit for my cam is to buy a pack of loads of other mounts. I'm thinking of a switch to a GoPro in the near future rather than a SJCAM SJ4000. Thanks for the suggestion!
