    Played the game thrice, never got to encounter any of the bugs you mention. Though I may mention a disturbing graphical artefact during the hacking minigame which kept me from scrolling down. It forced me to use a gamepad every single time I had to hack something. Bugger. To me, this game has one weakness : it's damn too short, it feels like it got cut halfwaythrough for cashin reasons. On the other hand, it helped me remember I hadn't enjoyed the first Deus Ex, the actual masterpiece in this saga, for quite sometime. And now, as the saying goes, I once again feel ready to reinstall Deus Ex Original because you simply mentionned "Deus Ex", as the famous saying goes. Thanks for that, bruh. JC Denton, here I come... A game! So have my like and sub for that. But for the love of actual Deus, don't forget to give some love to the real, one and only Deus Ex. It deserves your attention, even if it's a bit old, there's the alleged end you're looking for. The GMDX mod plugin succeeds in solving all issues in that regard. Also you get to understand everything you didn't get through the MD intro, that way. EDIT : "so is it a fitting end?" >> No, it's a prequel to Deus Ex. So you might wanna talk about a fitting beginning instead, here.

      The game certainly felt rushed and a little unfinished, I'm glad to hear the bugs I encountered weren't there for everyone. It didn't feel too short to me, personally, though there was a lot of threads left dangling for another entry in the series - having said that, I'd have been happy if the story was longer, I was enjoying it. As I mentioned in the review, the world was so well realised that the side quests were engaging too, I wouldn't have minded a few more in each chapter to explore. I'm glad to hear that you've gone back to the original, enjoy the replay! I don't have the money to get the original Deus Ex, the only reason I reviewed this was because it was free, so fingers crossed Amazon or Epic decide to give it away! I'll definitely play it after playing Mankind Divided, and with your recommendation. Thanks for the sub, I appreciate that!

      I can't see it on GeForce Now, are you sure it's available? Regardless, I think the point I was making in the video is that a lot of the big, new games that you can buy on Steam are often not available for some time on GeForce Now, if at all.

      @@viewfromtheevening Apparently you have to buy from the store its supported from . Also its not low latency I got the 50$ package for 6 months and xbox game pass is free on my PC for one month and I have MW3 and it wont run on GEFORCE NOW because the game isnt through steam . Also XBOX game pass isnt worth it either because all there titles arent supported through GEFORCE NOW . I think it was cool to try it but mu Laptop with a 4060 I got for 699 on a deal now 1100$ at walmart I will just keep using that also GEFORCE now has games limited at 60fps and some 120 with a 4080 I would expect it to run wild lol. I think it would be cool if it gave you the power of a 4080 with the ability to play any and all games you wanted on it but the latency sucks its unplayable . Im sure xbox game pass is good for 1 month 20$ you can try a few games before buying but who would pay 240$ a year for that and 100$ for geforce now thats 340$ a year and in the end you dont own anything . Also you still need to purchase the games through steam . So your not really getting ahead .

    • @viewfromtheevening
      @viewfromtheevening 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not that you just have to buy a game through a specific store - Helldivers 2, even if you bought it through Steam, cannot be played via GeForce Now because GeForce Now doesn't support it. For Xbox Game Pass games, Microsoft would probably prefer you to pay the higher tier and use their Cloud Gaming service rather than play their games through GeForce Now. A few Xbox Gamepass games could be played through GeForce Now (like Starfield), but it wasn't many. Since you have a 4060, I can't see it being worth you paying for a streaming service. As you say, there is still latency on the connection, a limited number of supported games, and it costs a bunch more money! Definitely agree that a good way to use XBox GamePass is to get a month, check things out, then cancel!

    I must say, I am impressed by your wisdom and calmness in discussing this. I understand the feeling of working hard on something and seeing very little come from it. I appreciate your reflection and sincerity. If it helps at all, I really enjoyed your other video, so much so that it inspired me to do the same thing myself, going through every spell and ranking them in a tier list for how they'd be IRL. Despite all this, I hope you can go back to enjoying the Dungeon Dudes, and I also hope you are able to make part two, I'd really love to see it :> P.S. • @siralbatoris
    @siralbatoris 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice video, I quite enjoyed it! I've only found like one other video on this topic, and I really like your ranking system and your thought process and how well you explained your assumptions. Just a couple notes. First, unless the spells specify, material components are not consumed, so you just need one instance of them to cast the spell. For example, you only need two lodestones ever to cast unlimited mending, or one firefly to cast light an unlimited number of times, not one per. Alternatively, you can use a spell focus (which are very simple mundane objects like a stick or an orb) instead of material components (unless the components have a gold cost), and focuses are never consumed. Second, if you're casting a spell like eldritch blast at an object, the AC represents not the likelihood of missing, but the durability of the object. Like, if you shoot a blast at a rock on the ground, there's not a 65% chance it misses, but rather a 65% chance the spell is not powerful enough to damage the object. Thirdly, I'm pretty sure Mage Hand is not autonomous and is instead just like a normal hand that you control from range. Like, I don't think it could pour you a cup of tea if you can't see the tea, unless you get lucky. That functionality is too similar (I feel) to Unseen Servant, a 1st-level spell. I would say Mending is S tier because I would rule it as being able to fix things like electronics or other complicated items (less than 1 foot in size), as it gives the example of being able to repair a construct (which is basically the D&D equivalent of electronics). In fact, if I could only get 1 cantrip, I would choose mending because literally anything you break on a daily basis you could just fix. Never need computer repair, never need car repair, never need new clothes (unless you grow out), buy broken electronics and fix them for free, etc. Life changing in my opinion. That Acid Splash idea for selling the acid is clever, assuming the magical acid you conjure from nowhere doesn't disappear. Finally, where is part two?

    • @viewfromtheevening
      @viewfromtheevening 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you liked it, and thank you for the clarifications - I'm no D&D expert, and the whole point of the video is to be as accurate as possible, so I really appreciate it. I really hadn't thought of that meaning of AC before, it's really helpful, thanks! Knowing material components aren't consumed does affect my rankings, so good to know going forward. About spell focuses: Would you rule that all spells don't require material components if you are using a spell focus, even if the material components don't exist in our world? I'd like to look up how spell focuses are created, and if it's a process that we could be expected to do, despite not officially being a named spellcasting class. Mage Hand not being autonomous does drop it's ranking to that B I think. It would make sense that it's less powerful than a 1st level spell, like Unseen Servant, though I'd still quite like it! I hadn't considered Mending being able to fix electronics, though I do take your point about constructs in D&D being comparable and it is magic after all, why couldn't it fix a circuit board? That removes my doubt about the S tier ranking, it would push the earnings from a good living to life changing money. Great point! Part Two is a mostly written script waiting for me to feel well enough to film it, fingers crossed that will be soon!

      @siralbatoris 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@viewfromtheevening Just to clarify a bit more on AC, the "default" AC any creature has is 10 + Dex mod, and that number represents how good they are at dodging. Things like armor and shields increase that number by adding physical protection, meaning that even if you get hit, you wouldn't take damage. Though it's streamlined in D&D 5e, in previous editions, there were different armor classes to just hit a creature (for example being able to touch them to cast a spell of range touch) vs being able to damage a creature (being able to beat their dodge AC plus any armor bonuses). For spell focuses, I would wager that you would be able to replace any non-costly components, even things that don't exist in the real world. The purpose of non-costly components are just to add flavor to the spells, or if you're running a really gritty game, to force your players to really pay attention to what they actually have on them. In the game, the alternative to a spell focus is a component pouch, which also is able to replace non-costly material components, but instead of just magically replacing them, the underlying idea is that you literally just have a bag with all the things in it, meaning a spellcasting focus really does just replace any component. As for making a focus, I don't imagine that would be too difficult. Like, one of the focuses is just a "Sprig of Mistletoe" or a "Wooden Staff", not too difficult to obtain. The artificer class is able to take an infusion called "Enhanced Arcane Focus" which makes spellcasting focuses magically more powerful. As the artificer is only allowed to infuse non-magical items, a spellcasting focus must itself not actually be magical (less like a wand from Harry Potter and more like a normal stick). And good luck with your script writing!

    • @viewfromtheevening
      @viewfromtheevening 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm a bit torn on spell focuses in a real life setting. The premise for my list is judging them as if we were just somehow able to cast them, not that we have studied and become one of the spell casting classes from the game. Does that mean we would have learned how to channel that magic through a mundane object? I'm not sure it would. Spell focuses and component pouches feel more like an opt-out for material components for players and DMs that don't want to track them (which is fair), otherwise why put any non-replaceable components in the spell descriptions? Equally though, these things are in the game, and so it would also be fair to use them, using the rules as written. I'm not sure, maybe saying only components that exist in this world without a named cost can be used through a focus? Thanks for the great information and ideas, it's exactly the kind of conversation I enjoy around these topics!

    Mate, I get that it sucks, and I have a lot of respect for how much effort you have gone to to make this a reflective piece and not an attack. But there's a few things you should consider. Firstly, as you say, your initial video got 30 something views; out of the millions of people who use TH-cam, hell even the millions who specifically watch DnD content on TH-cam, the chances of one of those being the Dungeon Dudes is astronomically small, probably smaller than the chances of winning the lottery. Secondly, you seem to understand that one does not own ideas, and that this idea was not entirely yours uniquely, but you need to understand just how cheap ideas actually are in the creative process. People who create things have a dozen good ideas of their own every day, as I'm sure you know coming up with ideas is the easiest part of making something, the hard part is making it; the Dungeon Dudes have no motivation to steal ideas from other people, they will have more ideas than they could possibly ever make videos for. Ideas are very rarely good or bad on their own, hell they're rarely creative or uncreative on their own, the value and the creativity comes from the execution. I don't want to demotivate you at all, but this will happen again, you will find other people get more popular doing what you're doing. You will also be on the other side, you will spend time and effort cultivating an idea you thought was original only to find someone else beat you to the punch. Lots of people will have the same ideas as you. But nobody will ever make what you can make. That's unique. That's value. Be upset for a little if you need to, but then pick yourself back up and carry on making things. You were not robbed, you were not disrespected, in all likelihood you were not even noticed, you have simply felt one of the many pains of every artist.

      Hi @WolfbloodJakeWilliams, Thanks for the thoughtful comment, the video really was intended, not as attack, but a starting point for a discussion. That's why I start the video out with a question, not an accusation! I hope that I'm not giving the impression in the video that I feel like I was robbed or disrespected, as you point out, this video is more of a reflection on exactly what you talk about at the end of your comment - one of the many pains of every artist, and my reaction to it - particularly in view of his being the first time I've encountered it. And it is also my way of working through that feeling. The process of making the video has done just that. The only reason there is a slight chance the Dungeon Dudes may have seen my video is because I made a tweet that was @dungeon_dudes, you're totally right that it was likely not noticed at all, and they never knew of my video. It's not really important if they did see it, as I say in the video, I don't think I have any reason to complain regardless - I was more interested in why I was bothered by the possibility. I'm not demotivated by your comment, I appreciate your point of view and your experience - and the validation of me as an artist, that's a first!

      @Privateer_24 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WolfbloodJakeWilliams It does happen that famous artists (creators?) will use the material of a lesser known artist and claim it as their own. Deep Purple had a ballad that was almost word for word of a song that a local artist in Norfolk, Virginia had written for his wife. It just so happened that Dio was at the small, podunk bar a year earlier and watched the band perform their original song. So, it does happen.

      @WolfbloodJakeWilliams 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Privateer_24 What you describe is stealing work, ie the hard part, not an idea. Stealing work is like stealing money, people will do it because it saves them effort. Stealing ideas is like stealing pebbles, there's enough out there and they're easy enough to acquire legitimately that theft is not necessary. In this example, if the DD repeated his whole video point by point, almost word by word, I would say they were stealing work. But if I were to write a story about two teenagers falling in love, that doesn't mean I stole from Shakespeare, it wouldn't even mean I'd read his work.

    I heard the way that Robbie Reyes and Spider-man act is ridiculous and you touched upon it as well in your review. It's kind of off-putting since those characters are really likeable in the comics. I think the reason Epic made it free is because both this game and it's DLC are like 70% off on Steam. But a free base game ain't bad at all. Sometimes I don't understand how a game like this is 50 GB but Spider-man Remastered (which has all of New York city) is 60 GB. Makes no sense.

    • @viewfromtheevening
      @viewfromtheevening 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can see the way that Robbie Reyes and Spider-man are portrayed could be disappointing to fans of those characters, they are a bit one-note, which is a shame. I'm close to the end of the game now, and conversations with all of the characters are basically just them saying how good a friend I am, and how I've changed everything for them - which is odd coming from Blade! I'm skipping through them at this point. I can see there are a lot of DLCs, and an in-game currency you need to buy to purchase some of the better looking costumes, so I'm guessing Epic thought they'd made as much as they can from the base game and want to encourage more people to buy the extras. I've enjoyed the game, and I want to see the end of the story, even if there isn't much variety in the fights anymore - the game definitely struggles towards the end. On the disk space, there are so many cut scenes I can imagine they account for a fair bit of that 50Gb!

      @@viewfromtheevening Yeah I started playing it today. The dialogue is pretty bland and every little small thing is a cutscene. :/ Not a fan of that, I wish it had really impactful stuff to show when it's a cutscene (maybe I am not there yet).

      Yeah, I was wary about that too. There is more of it that I want, though it isn't ruining the game for me. A lot of it is story-building at first, and the non-story parts are generally short. If you're interested in the game just for the turn-based combat, there is a lot of gameplay that isn't that. If downloading the game isn't an issue for you, I do recommend you give it a try though.

      This month hasn't been that great, though there have been some good ones come up every now and then in the past, and likely will in the future. Between Amazon and Epic Games, you can pick up a few gems, and it's not uncommon to see the games switch between the two, so you might still pick up a few you missed. I see the free Luna service as something to check at the start of the month, which is only that helpful if a shorter game you fancy playing turns up to try.

    • @viewfromtheevening
      @viewfromtheevening 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It isn't clear from what I've put on the screen, but it doesn't provide a link, it just says to go to the third party controller's website. They were relying on the controller's manufacturers to update their drivers, which I didn't think was great. It now works fine with a controller, without updated drivers, so it was obviously possible to get a wider range working, they just hadn't implemented it at the time.

Your reviews were always helpful, so another big thank you for all your effort and investment. I'm happy you won't stop TH-cam completely, I'll happily come back often to listen to your thoughts and I look forward to it. A while ago I noticed you already did some videos other than game reviews in the very beginning of the channel and I enjoyed those. Some were good to listen to on the side while cooking, some were good to pay more attention to (while eating then hahaha). I hope you'll stay around and make videos about whatever you'd like to talk about. All the best :) Oh and also, you seem to have a well structured mind and good memory, given that you layed out your thoughts in this video seemingly without a script (of course editing out thought pauses is very normal). This makes me curious: Did you ever write scripts for your game reviews or did you record your thoughts always free and fresh out of your mind?

      @viewfromtheevening ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Lukas, I'm glad that my videos were helpful, as I said in this video, comments like yours made a huge difference to my motivation! Thank you for your support. This video was indeed made without a script, though I wasn't as well structured as you give me credit for, there was a lot I spoke about that I cut out of the edit where I didn't think it added that much, it was a bit of a ramble at times! I did script my game reviews, I think they needed a bit more structure than I could achieve unscripted. I'll definitely be back with other videos, I do have a few things I'd like to talk about!
