Considering that this show is made by the same people who make ATLA, I wonder if there's an actual real connection to it? Like the Avatar's spirit is reborn into a new body every time, but is everyone else's spirits reborn into new worlds like how it's portrayed in many isekai anime? And in order to stay in that world, you have to do what Iroh did and tether yourself to the spirit world before you truly pass? If this is the idea, it's amazing. If not, then I'd love to know what their true thought was. I say all this because, as a writer, you wouldn't have someone say something like that unless it really meant something. It could've just been a little "fanservice" for all the ATLA fans watching, but for how it's said and portrayed, I wouldn't think so. I believe something in Callum has an affinity to boomerangs and part of his soul yearns for the weapon and companion he lost at the end of the 100 year war in his previous life.
