Middle Age Madness
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 ต.ค. 2006
A channel dedicated to the antics of a middle age man in the Star Citizen universe. I only play on the official release i.e. no PTU or early access contact, and I will not edit out bugs and issues I encounter. I am trying to provide a true picture of what it is like to play Star Citizen today, warts and all :P
The Real Star Citizen Part 45 - My Path to 1M UEC
I continue the contract grind towards achieving my goal of 1M UEC! Hopefully building up some reputation on the way.
Once I have some serious credits banked I will be buying a Vulture and trying out some salvage game play :D

The Real Star Citizen Part 36 - Making Some Real Credits!
มุมมอง 1.5Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Second time out with the ROC, this time I am prepared (well almost)... After a little time investment I was able to make some real credits. Hopefully showing that you can easily make a good income from ROC mining. However, you need a ROC, gear (not all that cheap) and a ship you can fit your ROC in. For a new player mining by hand is going to be hard and you will possibly need to find another w...

I grinned with my Avenger Titan until I could buy a Drake Vulture now I am working to get a drake cutlass black and probably a pieces medical..
Thank you for the comment! I'm excited for a vulture! Not sure what I will go for after that, maybe the Mole... :)
@@m1ddleagemadness As you are a solo I would say a prospector and them change the bags mole bags.. to much up and down flying a mole from one seat to another..
Thank you for the tip!
If you need help clearing bunkers let me know. My in game name is HokuHonu.
Thank you for the offer!
I haven't been able to complete a bunker yet. Hauling and bounty contracts have been ok but everything else has been difficult for me. Don't know if you realised or not but backpacks now can hold loads of stuff including armor pieces and guns. not sure about that mission but some bunkers will spawn more bad guys
They are definitely harder for some reason, but so far I've been able to complete them. I had noticed the backpack size increased! Very handy :)
@@m1ddleagemadness I might not have got across the issue i'm having is that I can't even get to the bunker because either the mission doesn't spawn, it drops out before I get there or the game crashes. It's been about 5 attempts so far to do the first mission. I'm at Orison so It might be the location
@@m1ddleagemadness finally got the mission to work and wouldn't you know it I kill some bad guys outside the complex and god dammit I forgot they could be good guys and crime stat 3 and killed and sent to prison for an hour and a half - mission still not complete
I tried leaving New Babbage yesterday and the same happened to me. I did escalate it to the online Issue Council as well.
It's such a pain..... I'm glad you also reported it, maybe they will fix it :)
I have been having this provlem for months - have not played since end of summer
Thank you for the comment! I did have the issue before, but hoped not to see it in 4.0... :(
no, please turn the music back on
Happy to do so!
@m1ddleagemadness , Pyro's music is amazing. You wouldn't want to miss it. <3
I did the same as you. downloaded it and started mainly because the progression in the preview will carry over and there's no point in playing a dead version and it was pretty unstable for me anyway. Got to jump in twice now and the first time it was running silky smooth, probably the best servers i've ever seen but not a single contract could be had. Second time I played in the morning and there was a bit more lag but limited contracts were back up with hauling and salvage being the primary ones available. played for a good 3 hours which is pretty rare time length for all of the last year as the game has been that unstable for me. Anyway things are looking very promising imo for 4.x going forward. Just remember though progress will still be wiped from time to time. You must of missed the note where they said the tutorial is broken since the last patch. looks like they do give you a set of armor if you select the tutorial. I might have to give it a go for that. I'm amazed you got as far through the tutorial as you did. That's odd with your hangar doors doing that as it hasn't happened to me at all so far. I started on Orison as it's the nicest aesthetically for me and I always liked cousin crows for ship parts but it's now been gutted of the best gear unfortunately. I initially started looking into cargo speculation but the markets have been changed dramatically and it'll need a lot more research from me and it looks like cargo hauling is paying way better so I made a couple of hundred k doing that. I've been using a Hull A and it is perfect for early cargo hauling contracts - it's so easy to load/unload. Also buying my first maxlift tractor beam was a steep purchase early game but worth it Lol, you and the buccaneer. I already explained that one to you in a previous video - it's because you have a corsair you get a loaner buccaneer to use in arena commander. Wow you had contracts first go unlike here in Australia we had none for the first day or so. yeah that first bounty mission to unlock all the chains you have to pay sadly but that's the price of getting your loicence. Not really surprised you got taken out in the glass cannon Bucc as you're used to the much tankier corsair and with a bit more responsive AI they cleaned up. I don't think its an AI upgrade but just better servers because your now operating on 4 severs and meshing in Stanton instead of one looks like two hangar gateways spawned on top of each other - not good. I've been getting hangar cues at Orison and I think it's due to the game traffic. Instead of 100 players I think we're up to 500 per shard now. didn't your mission say he was in a cave? why am I asking you cuz you don't read them lol. lol at the cave to the center of the moon - been there before I see and not falling for that old chestnut. I have a feeling Microtech NB/Tressler are going to be super populated with a 500 player population since it was probably the most popular home planet people pick
As always thank you for your comment and feedback! I'm looking forward to some quick patches for 4.0 lol. I did miss the note regarding the broken tutorial. The reason I tried it was other comments saying I should learn the game first, which is not what my channel is about, but if there is a working tutorial I should complete it as a minimum. The hangar doors have been an issue for me multiple times now, not sure if it is something I'm doing... AH! I must have missed what you said about the buccaneer! Thank you! The Bucc is such a glass cannon! I didn't even get any notices I was going to go down... oh well live and learn :P Micortech is very popular, maybe I will try some missions in another part of the solar system :)
@@m1ddleagemadness i've had that hangar door thing a couple of times. I think it's a bug that came in due to instanced hangars in 3.23 but you seem to get it a lot
Maybe you should learn before you make a video.
Hey! Thank you for the comment! That's the whole point of my videos... I don't spend hours watching others online "learning" how to play SC. I want to show what it is like to jump straight in and play the game. That said. I have had to, from time to time, refer to Google or ask a Corp friend for help... If you want videos showing unrealistic polished play, or players with perfect knowledge of every intracity, bug work around, and nuance of SC as it is today. May I suggest you watch some of the other creators out there, there are sooooooo many to choose from :P
Call the atc again, might fix that problem
I tried that, on multiple servers, from multiple regions... Did not fix the issue :(
that was so funny you saying at the start your crime stat can't get worse. You had the tiger claw in your hand correctly but you didn't have the contract that uses it at those security outposts which is why the prompt on the card reader didn't appear. You can currently only wipe your crime stat at SPK (Security Post Kareah) whick is in a space station circling a moon (Cellin I think). Pretty sure a CS of 3+ issues a bounty mission for you in the bounty hunter missions. and the higher your crime stat the more amplified the contract and valuable. I think you also start to appear on the star map for everyone else to help hunt you down You saw several rocks to mine but you have no knowledge of it. the multitool is the scanner. pointing it at a rock will tell you if its mineable or not and just like the ROC there is a mining mode and extraction mode. You still have to adjust the power in mining mode the same way as the ROC. When you run low on either food or hydration then you start taking damage over time till your incapped. Lol, not reading your mission properly comes back to haunt you again - really is something you should work on
Thank you for the comment! Ah. I had no idea you could only hack in one place! Oh well. I know for next time :P
@@m1ddleagemadness you used to be able to do it in the ground security outposts but CIG decided they wanted the PVP more concentrated around Kareah
nice job on the ghost hollow mission. I would struggle to see those bad guys at night. I also don't trust the AI suffers from the same vision problems we have. Also you've come such a long way with problem solving some of the issues you had at the wreck mission such as the sliding ship and the getting back on board your ship etc where previously a number of videos ago you would have been scratching your head trying to understand what's going on. You seem to be able to understand much more clearly what is intended game play and bugs in the game. With the Luminalia presents you can cash them in at an Admin office - not worth a lot these days but as you said if you spot them why not grab them. Servers have been terrible for me in Australia for this entire patch
Thank you for your comment! It is hard to see them. I tend to either lock onto their lights or catch their movements out of the corner of my eye. I do feel like I'm getting my head around the game mechanics and bugs lol. I almost felt blinkered by the complicated nature of the game. Definitely fun grabbing the presents when I see them ho ho ho!
you used to be able to right click when you have mining mode activated to enable the tractorbeam to suck in the gems :) But I guess cig changed the default keybind :D Man this makes me want to dust off my old roc.
Thank you for watching and for the comment! DO IT!
good job doing some proper ROC mining. If you are having trouble seeing the little gems after breaking the rocks press tab to scan and they should light up. makes it much easier to pick them up. You make a good point that as you're learning the game you keep making mistakes and each time it costs you money because of either bad purchases, losing gear due to mistakes or crashes etc. In the early stages of learning as a noobie you do get frustrated because you never seem to make any money. But it will get easier as you start to learn what to do and especially Don't Do. And then the money will come reliably. Naturally focusing and getting good at one thing will help get money quicker but for me I like to try and do all the game loops I can because I like variety and will get bored having to do the same thing over and over
Thank you for the comment! I fully intend on trying all the game loops :) I need to do some more delivery contacts and cannot wait to try a little salvaging :P
When you’re extracting if you hit tab, it’ll highlight all the little bits.
Thank you for the comment! It took me far too long to work that out lol
Mining is one of my favorite gameplay loops. Hand mining is a lot of fun too! If you ever want to mine on a MOLE or cargo haul in a Hull-C let me know. Have a great day!
Thank you for watching and the comment! I will keep that in mind :)
As an SC fan myself, its a little funny to think that all these ships can pay for a down-payment of a house already.
Not the cheapest of hobbies lol
at 18:00 you found a rock that was only suitable for a prospector or bigger to mine. You need to scan for rocks that appear within 4km and resolve into clusters of diamond icons - those are 90%+ likely to be ROC mineables. Hope you work this out. You need to go into Mining mode (press M) and point at the rock which will scan and tell you its contents. You can also go into extraction mode to hoover up all the gems you liberated from their stone tomb. You used to just press M to swap between modes so left alt and left click is new so I would have been lost too - haven't roc mined this patch mainly cuz servers have been shite. You sell your gems at the mining sites on the moons (dolivine is the cheapest then aphorite and then hadanite). you rented the roc for 13k. You should stay out and mine hadanite till the roc is full then sell at the mining outposts on the same moon and rinse repeat
Thank you for the comment! I should have looked into the key binds before I stared mining lol. But, I actually had some fun and hopefully next time I will make a bit more profit :)
Watch the ROC's cargo space filling up. You only filled it to 1% of its capacity. Also, if you go to the North pole (OM1), you will be in permanent sunlight.
Thank you for the comment! I was only wanting to see what I could make in a short session this time. Now I know you can make some good credits I will be going back out for a longer session. Great tip on going to the north pole! Ho ho ho... :D
Building A The Corporation Better Tomorrow... yes, exactly. ❤
I did notice that lol not my work :P
wow, that escalated quickly
I need all the help I can get lol
when you showed the atmosphere etc you were on the wrong tab to show hydration etc - it's the health tab you wanted instead of the home tab you were on. When putting gear on your body you can just double left click and it will automatically equip - no need to drag. when searching through equipment inventories you can hit the customize button and breakdown inventory further for example when you were looking for a pistol - hit customize uncheck weapons and check sidearms and that way you only see pistols. I use this all the time on my home planet due to the sheer amount of loot I have there. You're right the inventory does desperately need a search function. The reason your hangar was medium is because you're at your home planet which is the hangar you own and is sized for the biggest ship you own (corsair - medium). Whereas every other location will be sized to the ship you called. You don't have to use customize to equip attachments. you can drag the mining attachment to the circle that appears at the front of the multi tool and attach that way. You can also hover over the front of the multi tool to see what is already installed. You have no guns mounted on your ship. when you pressed U to start a message appeared center screen that said "0 guns empty". Easiest safest way to do hand mining is to take an investigation mission for a missing person that went to a cave. These can be found on Hurston, Microtech and Crusader. Make sure to read the contract and check that cave is in the description. There are some known cave areas with quantum markers but they are quite dangerous because anyone can find them easily and it's very simple for someone to gank you and take all the mineables you worked so hard to collect. Ok I've got to the bit where you go to the mining station. Mining on the surface can work quite well for using a mining ship or an ROC buggy but it's usually a terrible idea for Hand mining which is what you are equipped for. You can find hand mineables on the surface but they are pretty rare. What you are really looking for is a subsurface cave system which is abound with the right size rocks for hand mining. Finding a cave blind like you are doing is extremely hard to do which is why in the paragraph before and in your previous videos I've described the best way to do it without searching forever To go into scan you need to hit V and then point at the object you're scanning and wait for the info to come up on a screen or HUD. Pierc is the narrowness of the scan - think of 0 as 360 degrees and higher numbers are narrowing it further to your front. sgnl will go up when you're pointing at something you can scan. BTW the rocks you were looking at around 41:00 are mineable by the Prospector and the Mole mining ship. Smaller mineable rocks will scan as diamond icons when you get close to them. However the vast (like 90%+ of them) will be too big to hand mine and only mineable by a ROC Buggy. Can't believe you didn't grab the med gun from the crate (most valuable item you've found so far). Well done finding a cave. I've never been to that one, can you link how you found it? I'm surprised it didn't have any mineable rocks that I could see but you were on fast playback for me so difficult to tell. You did recover a few gems which are the result of hand mining so that would suggest there should have been mineables in there.
Thank you!!! Some amazing comments and advice! I really appreciate it :)
Not sure, however I think your mining attachment wasn't on. You should be able to activate the mining laser even if the rocks are too large, it just won't have enough power to break them. Try dragging the attachment from the backpack onto the tool.
I was very confused by the multi tool. I am definitely going to give mining another go and will try as you have suggested! I did look into it and I definitely couldn't mine the larger rocks with the multi tool :(
@@m1ddleagemadness Just bear in mind that you will have to store the ore in your backpack which has not much space thus it won't be of much value...
Yer I did think that. What's the alternative?
@@m1ddleagemadness A ROC, ROC-DS or a Prospect. The ROC-DS has a larger cargo space thus can be more lucrative. You might also need a Novikov, Pembroke, or the Zeus all weather suits since you will be exposed to the elements...
@@m1ddleagemadness Honestly you're better off trying to understand how to hand mine as a starting point and then you can work your way up to bigger stuff. I have given a detailed account in my main comment above on how to find a good location to Hand Mine successfully
You can hold your breath by pressing a button (check keybinds, shift for me) to stabilise your aim right before you shoot. You can also zero your scope to the range of the target to compensate for bullet drop (again check keybinds, pgup/pgdown for me). Do that with a 16x scope and you will be able to land those head-shots.
Thank you for watching and for the comment! Amazing!! I will check my key binds and get them setup! I love the idea of zeroing the rifle :D
Go to Bud's Growery and look for red loot boxes there are many places to find red loot boxes. You should find a sniper rifle there.
nice to see you giving it another go. Armor types do have an impact not only on damaged received but your stamina use - so heavy armor you can't run as long for example. You notice how much easier it was for you to see everything with your approach and the sun not glaring in your eyes. Hooray you found the elusive red box. So in bunkers and unlawful areas they can contain weapons but in safe zones they usually contain armor pieces. Now the most difficult to find loot boxes are the gold ones and i've only ever seen them in wreck sites. Talking about turrets at bunkers yeah the missile ones can be bad but honestly you're in a pretty tanky ship. If you were in something like a starter or the next size down medium ship like a cutlass they can be pretty dangerous when they work properly
There are gold boxes?!!! :D
Well done!
Thank you!
like the idea of trying out the sniper aspect especially if doing those wreck missions where you have distance. However you might want to take at least a pistol for close quarters work. Ahh the old turn it off and turn it back on again. I had the same thing happen in my C1spirit. Nice job sniping. Iirc there is a way to hold your breath to stabilize before shooting but I can't remember how. First time you've got to a tier 1 injury in the arm - it is now useless and you need hospital attention. the med gun can offset this for a few minutes by giving you the right combo of drugs. I see you were able to do it, well done and I bet your glad everyone told you to take a med gun because med pens are just not good enough sometimes. Although I haven't tried it I believe when you're in that injured state you can access the hospital from your hangar directly through the medical doors
Thank you for the comments! I will take a look at the advanced key binding. Being able to hold my breath whilst sniping will help loads! The tier one injury took me by surprise, I didn't realise I would not be able to hold a weapon or fly.... I'll have to try the hospital via the hanger, I had no idea that worked!
@@m1ddleagemadness I haven't been in the position to try the hospital shortcut myself but apparently that's why it's in your hangar area.
I will give it a go :)
that's astounding, you've approached the target again with the sun in your eyes. the ptv is a great little buggy for running about your larger hangars. You can use if for missions with defences where you can't get too close but the problem with it is you have nowhere to store a 1 or 2 SCU crate if you're going to loot into a box on site or if you want to bring all the armour or bodies back to your ship. some vehicles like a cyclone or mule can fit a 1 scu box on and the stv has an internal storage that will hold some things.
lol when you looted the box you threw away 8 med pens for one cruz drink - now that's overpaying. lol and then you shot the mannequins in the armor/gun shop and killed the shop assistant who drew a weapon because of the maniac shooting up his shop - too funny. to top it off you find a storage box and don't take it because of the valuable gems in it but because you need a replacement empty box for the one you lost hahaha. this is peak comedy for us veteran star citizen players
DOH! :D
good to see you enjoying the IAE
Thank you for watching and for the comment! I did enjoy it and try and get on every year for the event! It was a shame this year that the lag was sooooooo bad.. But, things can only get better, right... right?
@@m1ddleagemadness yeah the lag was really bad this year. I was stuck in the NB spaceport a couple of times and could not get to my hangar
well you're constantly leaving the engines on came back to haunt you. You probably won't ever do that again after that valuable lesson. Well done working out how to get back onto your ship. I think a week ago you probably wouldn't have realised to use a tractor beam to get a box and how to rotate it. To log off in bed you have to hold F while looking at bed and select lie down then when lying down aim at the get up icon and hold F again to bring up the radial menu and select the log off option from that. Little to complicated IMO but I think people were accidently doing it and they wanted to make a more on purpose thing. The fuses and fire extinguishers have been added for upcoming gameplay for onboard fire and engineering. With the money you earned now you could by a ROC mining vehicle which will fit in your corsair
I have dreams where my ship is drifting away from me now..... No, I will not do it again :P OOOOO I like the idea of getting a ROC and putting it in the corsair!
Glad you remembered not to power down this time as you probably would have blown up while kitting up. The glare can be killer, you did the same thing in a previous episode. You honestly should think about your approach and where the sun is. there are weather effects too which really just hamper players and NPC's don't seem to have any ill effects from which is annoying. Good to see you getting the hang of proper looting and searching the wrecks. shops don't sell sniper rifles. Best place to get them is mercenary bunker missions in loot crates. The npc activity seems to be heavily server related. With the looting you can also grab any cargo or components from the ships you downed that didn't explode which is a good way to boost your income. You should look thoroughly through the wrecks because some of the rarest loot in the game can be in them
Thanks for the feedback! I really must think more about the sun and approach sites with the sun behind me. The NPC performance is all over the place, I'm hoping as server meshing brings more benefits their behaviour will improve! I hadn't noticed the mercenary bunker missions!
Great fight! Bunkers are the place where those red loot boxes are located...
Dag nam it! That's it, I'm going back with double LMGs :P
@m1ddleagemadness Yes, the sniper rifles are ill suited for close quarters combat found in the bunkers.
equipping your ship with backup gear is a good idea especially if you have a respawn ability within it such as a Nursa in the corsair or your ship has a med bed but I wouldn't put too much in there because with all the bugs like falling through the floor while on a mission or simply dying means if you have to claim the ship then you lose everything that was on board it. lol you thought the container full of drugs (neon) could also fit the weapons. If you had an empty container which you can buy at the station you were at when you put it on the cargo grid you can open it on the left hand side while down in the warehouse by pressing the expand button and then drag your guns, ammo etc into then bring that up and just put the box on your ship. You can then access inside the box by going near it and hitting F and a loot menu will appear with all the gear in. Ok next minute you've found the cargo containers One of the goals you may wish to aim for is to get enough money in game to buy an Ursa Medical truck which I think can fit in your corsair and that way you'll have a tier 3 medical bed and respawn point on your ship. OMG you weren't told to power down the ship but just to turn the engines off so you don't float away. Powering down means your ship has no shields and it's a sitting duck. If you don't know if they're bad guys then a good place to start would be to read the gd contract and it might contain some clue before you blunder in. Good to see you've learned how valuable the silencer is - I love using it. Really great to also see you checking out some loot boxes lying around and grabbing gear off the baddies. I often find it easier to tractor their bodies to my ship and strip all their gear when I'm in space and give their naked corpses a burial at sea so to speak
I have just started looking at taking ground vehicles along with me. I will have to check out the Nursa. I did lose a box with my ship, once again learning the hard way :(
hey look at you, you worked out how to heal yourself, nice. Not sure if you're doing it or not but when you land turn off your engines with i because if they're on, your ship can blow away in the strong winds. I see the bad habit of short magging has come back to bite you in the arse. too funny, you found out the hard way about overdosing. Honestly you falling through the floor was the most fitting end to your drugged out fever dream. With the ships at the end I have no idea if that was part of the mission or not as I've never attempted this one. I thought they were players to start with but with all the circling they may well have been NPC reinforcements but they were an odd selection of ships - a connie, carrack and corsair - very weird
Very good that you're doing these vids as it gives a real perspective of a new player experience. One of the things you should also be aware of is with so many bugs in the game it's easy to think something is a bug when it's actually intended gameplay. your corsair not fitting in the hangar so not showing up on the asop in the small hangar being one. Personally I think it would be wiser for the devs to still show the ship but have a note saying unable fit in current hangar which would make life easier for everyone. I think these quality of life improvements will come in time but are more a polish phase than systems phase of development. I see you're still not reading the contracts before you take them - it told you it was pirates boarding a yacht. good job killing bad guys. You need to experiment with the loot menus a bit. When your in the quick loot screen up to the right where the cancel button is to exit the screen is an arrow pointing to top right - this changes to the overall loot menu and is the easiest way to sort through things in an overall manner. Also if you tab when in quick loot then it will change to their outer gear such as armor etc. the search option on the dead crew is in case you also took the paired missing person contract you could have checked them and made extra money. You're really doing well tackling these bigger missions solo that a lot of players won't do unless they're in a group
Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate the guidance on the loot menus! I have been struggling and didn't notice you can change the views etc. :)
good to see you mostly worked out what was happening with your corsair disappearing from the asop terminal. you're probably going to regret not having a tractor beam as the contract said you have to recover cargo. Ship weapon ammo is displayed in the top left under your cast of your ship silhouette and cannot be seen in Nav mode which you were in. 1>The corsair can easily fit cargo in it, 2> I did think the lack of tractor beam would hurt you. good lesson, always have multitool and med pens air locks aren't really implemented yet but they are coming and explosive decompression will be a thing. You should be able to shoot the door on disabled ships and that will open the cargo door. why on earth didn't you park your cargo ramp closer to the destroyed ship? Neon is illegal drugs and I don't think you can sell the 32 scu containers anywhere currently. to rotate cargo hold R and move your mouse around. those were all ship components you can sell or put on yours if they're better. you can also take the guns too. The geometry was very wonky as you shouldn't have been able to send everything through the bulkheads Also the cargo you recovered I'm pretty sure had nothing to do with the mission. I think the correct stuff spawned inside the asteroid
hooray, you're finally looking at tractor beams and med gun. when you were doing inventory stuff shift click sends it to your other inventory thats open so from left side of screen to right side of screen. you couldn't see it because you had the wrong tab open. just hit the open tab again and it will show your entire inventor. double click on an item transfers it to your armour so those different medical injections are now equipped and are probably not hemazol so that will be awkward when you come to heal during combat. ok you fixed it when you reloaded your pens. Glad to see you're trying to figure stuff out in hangar. so pressing 1 and 2 pull out and cycle primary weapons, 3 pulls out your pistol (you didn't have one equipped) 4 is fists iirc and 5 cycles through your utilities like med gun and multitool. Med gun isn't modified (it can only be reloaded with green goo when empty) and to self heal you hit b and when its aiming at your arm left mouse. the other attachment you bought says in the description it's for the multi tool so just like you can put a tractor beam you can also do a med attachment which works the same way as the med gun but won't do the special stuff the med gun does. You couldn't see your ship because you weren't at your home hangar and you had a temporary one that would only hold a small ship. If you went back out to the main fleet terminals you could have called your corsair. It's because a corsair wouldn't fit in the hangar you were in - wasn't a bug. Pisces is terrible in a fight and it looks like yours doesn't have any guns for some reason You're going to have to start realising that not all locations have quantum markers attached to them and this is on purpose and is mostly related to criminal activities or wreckage sites. The way you are supposed to deal with it is to jump to the nearest location and fly to it directly from there or for the more advanced pilots you pick a quantum location that flys past the destination and then cut your quantum drive when you're passing it and drop out of quantum right on top of the target area. Well done on the new location discovered and I notice you keep using uncoupled to maintain speed when you really should learn to use cruise control. It's C on the keyboard - try it and you'll get used to using it just remember like uncoupled you need to cancel it to stop flying into things. With the delivery you have to take them to the exact location. There are open landing pads up near the roof and outside on ground level you can use that are much easier to deliver from. You don't have to ask for landing permission. Great job on completing that. It was a lot of running around only because you'd never seen those places before but now you have a much better idea what to do with them. Also there are loads of different missions that apply to the DC's and some are very large combat intensive missions
Just so you know the call to arms goes towards your CDF reputation and not microtech security. Theirs is split into 2 sections because they also do mercenary work and bounty missions that have an fps component fall under the security section. So it cross pollinates your rep to both sections. Both the Pro Tem and fugitive recovery certification are PVP bounty mission - always look at the suspect name and you can tell. Also regarding the extra ships you have there's a page on the RSI website called the loaner ship matrix and it says you have the buccaneer to be available for arena commander because you own a corsair. The pisces will be a starter ship for some event going on or a free fly that everyone gets for a certain time. Currently everyone has a Cutter in their hangar during IAE Glad to see you give Ghost Hollow a go again but it's funny how you only ever check to see keybindings when your in a potential firefight. to be fair about your accuracy you're trying to use a submachine gun at rifle ranges so it's no surprise you miss a lot. Another issue you have is you have the sun to your front right making it harder to see targets. You should have moved round to the right from your ship and approach with the sun at your back to give yourself better vision. regarding taking damage when you have any type of tier damage you can no longer heal back to full. when you asked the question you had sustained a tier 3 arm injury. The med pen issue you had later is a known bug that instead of dropping a used medpen it just reholsters it and when you went to use one you were drawing empty ones which could then only be thrown away, wow I can't believe you didn't look in the loot crate near the broken Ursa - I would have been too tempted. That Kopion was an unexpected surprise - didn't know they spawned at ghost hollow, pretty cool. the shaking was due to the tier 2 arm injury you had - now if you had learned to carry a med gun you can actually target those injuries and cancel their effects for a couple of minutes so you would have had better aim. Therefore advice is always carry a med gun and learn how to use it. If it was frustrating so much why the eff didn't you move closer to offset the bad aiming? Also bosses always have more HP Congrats on completing that mission - I've never tried that one as a solo player - ghost hollow has historically been too dangerous - it was the place to be when I was trying them so players everywhere with shoot first ask questions later attitude
was watching when you got to the transport part and that's the exact same experience I had tonight riding the train in Lorville. Any minute I was expecting to be hurled to my doom but finally I was able to get off that roller coaster. I was also wondering if you'd ever remember to put your helmet back on. Bloodshot ridge was where you fell through the planet in an earlier vid. You shouldn't apologize as it's not your fault the mission bugged out. It can be so annoying after all the work you do to prepare and then a big waste of time
I really hope they update the transaction system soon! Not only does it feel like a gamble every time I ride it, it also breaks the immersion :(
good to see you trying some box missions. One day you'll learn to use a tractor beam. The quantum effect will be changing in the future, they previewed it in the Star Engine demo. Now you've finally gone to a mining station you should be on the lookout for crates you can loot. Some have drinks, tractor beams etc and some have pieces of armor. Also if the wind is annoying you when you leave an airlock do so while crouching as this disconnects the animation for the knock down effect
Thank you for the tip about the wind! I will do more logistics contracts and I'm excited to try mining as well!
voice is excellent. congrats on the new Mic. Yeah, this is why I don't use a wireless mouse, they always give out on you at the worst time. Great to see you realising that the short magging was a problem - bad habit from other games. You're definitely improving in leaps and bounds which is great to see because Star Citizen is not easy with so much to remember. Ahh I see you've run into the dumb new change where if your backpack slots are full you cannot pick up a gun even if your hands are empty - I really hope they fix that. Next step will be learning to bring a tractor beam and start looting corpses. When turrets come back on you're going to want to park further away behind solid cover and bring a ground vehicle of some sort. You can buy them in game fairly cheaply. If you look inside your cabins you will see each one has it's own storage you can leave stuff in. Also you can just leave food and drink in the kitchen and it will persist. everything you leave will persist in the same place even after you store it and call it back. If you want more variety you should also start doing the mercenary contracts I still use mouse and keyboard although I did just buy a hotas setup but haven't been brave enough to learn it yet. I would love the eyetracker thing but they seem so expensive
Thank you!
The only thing you missed was the LAG!!! at IAE.. I off load my loot every time before I log off. learned that playing Dayz.
Oh lag the plague of SC events lol. I, once again, learnt the hard way. All loot will be offloaded from now on 07
enjoyable episode again. Lorville in Lore has a history of gun restrictions to stop the population uprising but you can get all ammo types on Everus Harbor and also at Lorville at Tammany and Sons. Best place to get ammo on stations is the armor shops which you can also sell your looted gear at. There are also a couple of guns available, some can take a bit of searching for. The space stations at planet are always in geosynchronous orbit with the capital cities. Well that's a first. I don't think i've ever seen anyone mistake a distribution center for the capital city before but here we are - makes for a surprising adventure. that sunrise was looking pretty good at covalex. I also agree with you that at times when I'm playing it feels like some sci-fi franchise I know and is one of the things I love about the game is they're trying to embrace as many sci-fi movies and shows as possible. Lol when you get to Lorville and you're saying He's got a gun and he has etc - too funny because only the people oppressing you have guns at Lorville. Wow, you made it to Tammany where they sell ammo but due to impatience you didn't check the terminal properly and missed scrolling to personal weapons - that's the facepalm moment right there, lol. And then you're wondering about a map and there's one in the left hand corner of your UI and they just implemented ground maps in your mobiglass to make it easier to get around. well done in the end of getting your target and I can see why you thought it was a ground mission so makes sense to get ammo etc
Thank you for the comment! I learnt so much during that video and from the following comments.
I was going to play some SC myself but IAE has left me trapped in NB and unable to get to my hangar so here I am watching another great episode from yourself. Just in case you didn't realise I always pause and comment as the episode happens You really should be looting as you can make so much money selling the gear and you won't have to buy armour or guns. I really wish you'd stop short magging or at least learn how to repack between firefights because it will bite you - seems like a bad habit from fps games where they just do it automatically. Well I see a few minutes later my prediction about short magging came true and you also had quite a loud audio cue indicating you were bleeding out that you ignored for a long time. I also recommend carrying as many med pens as you can on your armour and use them whenever the audio tells you. Also you should start carrying a med gun for calmer situations, I really hope you bought a tractor beam to make recovering your body easier but we'll see. That unprepared return with low ammo was not a good idea - remember the soldiers motto "failing to prepare is preparing to fail". Hold R to holster - it's much easier than faffing about with the wheel thing
Thank you for watching and for the comments! Changing mags is a really bad habit and seems to be part of my muscle memory from FPS games.... I'm trying really hard to stop. You are right, I need to stop more and deal with injuries and redistribution of ammo. I have started to loot more, I'm trying to find the right balance.
@@m1ddleagemadness that's awesome to hear. I'm trying to catch up on your vids as soon as I can and I'd be happy to jump in some time and do a mission or two together.
you're doing a fantastic job showing the state of the game and especially from the point of view of someone who doesn't have a lot of experience. This game is not new player friendly and I wouldn't expect it to be until it is at least out of Alpha whichever decade that may be. Hey, look at you go working out which bounty was PVP, good job. Lol looking at you leave without ammo for 3 of your guns was pretty funny - hope it doesn't bite you in the arse. you might want to remember to put your shields up whenever you approach a potentially hostile location. Lol with the observation of something funny with the texture on your armor. that's the effect of cold and frost on your armour because of your environment. I'm surprised you haven't noticed it before. When you get back in your ship it will all melt off and your armour will look the same as it used to - just part of that immersion you were talking about liking. the ladder issue is a known bug which I really wish they'd fix. Also the credit extractor and broadcast tower are part of an advanced mission which I don't think you have the rep to get yet. About the mission not spawning for you it either bugged out or at a guess the bad guys spawned and there was another player or group there and took them all out and left before you got there - but either way who knows
How did I not notice the armour freezing! Thank you for all the great feedback!
at 14:30 ish you looked at 2 35K bounties. One of them told you in the details it was at Ghost Hollow on Microtech (same place you got owned with the wrecked reclaimer) with an NPC bounty because of the dual name with a space between. The second contract was a Pro Tem and a single name character which informs you that it is another player with a crime stat - so a PVP mission. I think the desync was causing loads of problems with your fighter combat. that enemy cutter should have died easy
I'm still not sure about doing a PVP contract yet. But it's something I will definitely get into as I progress as a bounty hunter:) Thank you for clarifying the naming convention!
@@m1ddleagemadness I've tried a couple of PvP contracts and they always end badly for me or go nowhere because of them leaving the server. And PvP is not really my favourite thing to do in this game
if you're doing fps missions you can use a tractor beam to bring the bad guys bodies back to your ship and loot them in peace and never needing to buy armour or weapons again. Also whenever you take a contract it tells you if you read it who you're working for and thus which group you'll get reputation with if you succeed, it also told you as I paused it and read that you were going to a wreck site so you could expect to see at least one destroyed ship with potentially multiple bad guys. A wreck also generally means there will be no fixed quantum marker to jump to. Nice job completing the mission. Once all the bad guys are dead you should loot as many as possible and search through the wrecks (you can get inside them all) as there are usually a number of special loot cases with ultra rare gear in them. this was where that tractor beam would have been handy as you could move some crates and use that to get up on the gantries. You were on the right track shooting the booby traps and past those are normally the crates but for some reason you didn't have any spawn Btw: Phonetic way to say Calliope - "Kal-Eye-Oh-Pee. She's from Greek mythology and is a daughter of Zues
Thanks! I'm really struggling to find decent loot crates... I think I need to spend way more time investigating once the NPCs are down.
the problem you're having is the mission you selected was for a PVP bounty (which you can tell by the name of the suspect in the contract Kaelan_Thorne - no spaces in name). While you were getting ready and out into space that player logged off or jumped servers so hence you still had the contract but no target. You really need to start reading the contracts and use some patience because it's causing you a lot of problems that are avoidable. The game is much more like a real life sim than other games which make life very easy for us, Lol, you ended up at ghost hollow and went in pretty blind resulting in an unsurprising result. I'm amazed you lasted as long as you did considering last time I was there I was getting ganked by players before I could even land. Definitely a place to avoid flying solo unless you're really skilled
Thank you for the comments! I'm getting more comfortable with the larger contracts and learning to be more methodical. I'm going to try landing further away and using ground vehicles to get in to see if that helps as well. Stay tuned lol
