My personal ranking: 7) Hot in the Shade. I like Rise to It, Hide your Heart and Forever. The rest doesn’t do anything for me. It’s a complete over correction of the glossiness of Crazy Nights. Taking their demos and instead of record them properly, instead just adding overdubs to them. What makes the album more depressing is that it would be the last album featuring Eric Carr before he passed away. IMO, best drummer Kiss ever had. 6) Crazy Nights. To glossy. Too slick and the songwriting is just so lackluster. The opening track is fine, but it’s just much of the time for me, this glam/hair metal that everyone was doing. Trying to be Poison, Ratt and/or Motley Crüe. 5) Carnival of Souls. I enjoy this one more as a novelty. The recording of this were done with the Revenge line up around 94-95, but were eventually scrapped when the Reunion started happening. It was it was just released because it was making its way around Bootleg circles 4 ) Animalize, (or as I like to call it, Gene Simmons Goes to Hollywood). I’m kinda half n half on his. I enjoy all the Paul Stanley songs. The Gene Simmons song I don’t care for much at all, except While The City Sleeps 3) Lick It up. The songs are really good on this. What knocks it down for me, I can’t stand Vinnie Vincent solos. They annoy the heck out of me 2) Revenge. Kiss back doing heavier stuff and material is there to back up the band. Side note: Eric Singer play drums on the studio version of God Gave Rock n Roll to You, cause Eric Carr was too sick to record. When they realized and came to terms what he was gonna pass no matter what, they flew him LA to record the video. Sadly his death were overshadowed by the media cause he passed on the same day as Freddie Mercury of Queen (nov 24 1991) 1) Asylum. First album with Bruce Kulick and it’s to me the most underrated record in the Kiss catalogue. If this line up had stuck to this template, their 80s output could’ve rivaled their 70s material

R u guys going 2 talk about Lillian Axe. Ron Taylor has one of the best voices ever and great stage performance. Their music is like timeless but unfortunately didn't reach as hughvas yhey could have and should have but not the best label support really hurt them at that time.

Nate, thank you! Thank you for pointing out that Stephan Shareaux sings very similar to Stanley from LSD. That...blew...my....mind!! After listening to both of these bands (*Life Sex & Death more) for years and years, I never connected the dots on their singing styles 🤘 What I will add as well; Kik Tacey is the ONLY band on planet earth that has Blas Elias's drum sound. Thanks to Dana Strum who produced it. Listen to 'Don't Need Rules' and tell me that doesn't sound so, so damn close to Slaughter. Oh yeah baby!! 👌👌

Kiss is great, but I'll never forget the first time they showed themselves without makeup. I was shocked. They definitely didn't look like I always imagined. I liked their music in the 80's way better than the years after, but I've always loved lick it up
@@hawtmess66 taking the makeup off was a great move for the time to bring relevance back to the band after some unsuccessful album releases. Lick it up is one of their best tracks ever. 🔥🤟

These are probably typical to you guys but I loved them in the 80's. That's when they reached their peak. Cinderella L.A. Guns Ratt Slaughter Jackyl Tesla Great White And I know she's not in a band, but Lita Ford deserves tons of credit

The Danger Danger song is ok and their a talented band but it doesn't have a chance against Skid Row's monkey business, that song rocks hard great vocals,music,that whole album is fantastic I really think it should have done better than their first album,its better hands down than the first and the first album is great,when you played poison you know Danger Danger sounds alot like poison what a great comparison.WINNER SKID ROW MONKEY BUSINESS

IMHO: 7 Animalize 6 Asylum 5 Crazy Nights 4 Carnival of Souls 3 Hot In The Shade 2 Revenge 1 Lick It Up But if Unplugged counts, that ties for No 1. Fight me.

@@RocknDanger @RocknDanger I'll go best 3 (or so) each album, because I can't just pick 3 from the entire era! 7 Heavens on Fire, Thrills in the Night (Only two, that's why it made last place) 6 Who Wants to be Lonely, Trial By Fire, Uh All Nite 5 Good Girl Gone Bad, Reason to Live, Thief in the Night 4 Rain, Master and Slave, Jungle, I Confess 3 King of Hearts, Caddilac Dreams, Betrayed, Little Cesar, Read My Body 2 Heart of Chrome, Unholy, Spit, Carr Jam '81 1 All are perfect, but A Million to One and All Hell's Breakin Loose, and Exiter edge out slightly.
Animalize should be in second place. It's nearly as good as Lick It Up.
I think '80s KISS is better than most of the '80s glam metal bands personally! #7 Carnival of Souls( I do actually like it quite a lot) #6 Crazy Nights ( Didn't like it at the time but some songs have grown on me) #5 Hot In The Shade (Very close with Crazy Nights, I agree, way too many songs but Betrayed and Forever make it better than Crazy Nights for me lol #4 Revenge ( Gene's songs rule, Production is great, Bruce and Eric are on fire. Paul's lyrics are a bit too cheesy #3 Animalize #2 Asylum ( I think this record has a little of the '70s KISS vibes #1Lick It Up (Super heavy, just as good if not better than Creatures, the title track is the weakest track. A Million To One is an amazing Paul song and vocal performance! Great job guys, keep up the good work!

Its subjective..... I have all of Van Halen music David era and Sammy's..i find myself listening to Davids era a lot more. Also I even listen David solo era waaayy more than Sammy's era..yeah the music from Sammys era is good but it just doesnt catch me like Dave's

Aerosmith was definitely one of kind. Steven's voice was awesome. It's amazing how they had hits in every decade. Thats pretty much unheard of. I loved Sweet Emotion, Dream On, Come Together, Kings and Queens, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, Walk This Way Janie's Got a Gun. Ragdoll. Dude Looks Like A Lady. So much more but those are pretty much my faves. 40+ years of music is spectacular. They're videos were great back in the MTV days, which I miss btw. Unfortunately, I don't think Aerosmith will be back. Steven's voice is wrecked. Joe Perry and the rest of the band can play elsewhere. . BTW...I loved INXS. One of my all time greats. INXS had the sexiest front man and voice ever. StevenTyler and Jon Bon Jovi have both wrecked their voices. Its unfortunate they lost their lively hood, but at least they left an amazing catalog of music. I have a few songs that bring out the woman in me. Black. Paradise City. November Rain. Purple Rain. But its the huge catalog of Aerosmith that has the most ballads throughout their career. Glad we had them while we did
