The Three Forts Challenge - Run the tough one on May 4th 2025
May the forts be with you! Conquer the tough one on May 4th 2025, and raise money for adults with learning disabilities at Ferring Country Centre.
Tackle a full marathon, half marathon or 5 mile trail run over the scenic backdrop of the South Downs National Park, the route takes you over three iron-aged forts in Cissbury ring, Chanctonbury ring & Devils Dyke.
For the first time in over 20 years, the Three Forts Marathon will change, with our new starting and finishing point being at Lancing Manor Leisure Centre.
Try out this exciting new route, push yourself to conquer the tough one & raise money for charity while doing it, see you on the downs on May 4th 2025!

    Very interesting talk. I think there are some extra things I can add as a fitness professional myself. Be kind to yourself and accept that "practice makes better as there is no such thing as perfect". Practice exercise, nutrition/healthy eating, "mindfulness" etc. The more you practice these things, the more of a better habit it will become. As Jo said, 15 minutes of exercise works great. I try to do 10 minutes of activity at least 3 times per day where I am slightly puffed. Every little helps. This then meets NHS guidelines for a healthy heart. Balance is an important thing. My background is martial arts and we talk about yin and yang. If you are healthy most of the time with diet and exercise, then you can balance that out with something less healthy. Negative calorie balance over time will result in a person naturally losing weight, but resistance training is important for maintaining muscle tissue and promoting a healthy metabolism. Weight can be important for measuring macros. I have personally been doing this for 35 years since putting on a lot of bodyfat following an operation when 19 years old. I made it a practised habit which then allowed me more freedom and less stress. The final thing to mention is mobility. The joy of unhindered movement is often taken for granted. As a 54 year old recently diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, I appreciate just being able to still move, although some movements I can no longer do. Joyful January should be a celebration of still being relatively mobile to do the things you love. Find the joy in movement. appreciate food by cooking from scratch, and then savouring every mouthful. Chew slowly to allow your body time to send signals to your brain to prevent overeating. All these things we will one day no longer be able to do, so embrace every opportunity to move, cook and eat and appreciate the moment.

    I go there all The time and there’s a inflatable that is awesome I was standing In the middle of the inflatable and The lifeguard told me that I have to push everyone off and I got all of my friends off and there’s diving boards and I jumped off The highest one and I’m a kid by the way

    I am only ever interested in using the resistance and free weights; and would like to spend a couple of hours each time I go, as I had done before the shut down. If I am able to find an evening slot to book, is this possible, or will the Gym be time limited ( to ?? mins ) ?

    How very sad. You've taken a wonderful facility and turned it into some kind of prison camp where we're guarded by wardens, herded around like sheep and made to stand on a cross during classes. Being treated in this way, like some kind of bio hazard, is abhorrent. Long gone is the personal element and the fun of coming to class. The major part of a leisure centre is the social element, not for isolation. What's the point now? 🤦🏼‍♀️

      I think the opposite. Looks like they’ve put in a lot of effort to be able to get those that want to to get back to some proper exercise! I can’t wait to get back to a gym, whilst avoiding risk at every opportunity... seems they’ve done lots to make that happen; props to them!

      Yup. PC World is just as bad. The whole world has lost the plot. No more Keep Calm & Carry On. Was hoping for info on Splashpoint, but nothing on their dedicated page. (I appreciate their management are doing their job and following the law, not the Leisure Centre's fault.)
