Building A Soundproof Server Cabinet
Noise level was the one factor I overlooked when I purchased a rack mountable server for the lab over a year ago. To dampen the noise and to tidily store my current and future network equipment, I took on the challenge of building my own server cabinet from wood.
An evaluation of functionality, air flow and noise level is shown in the final 5 minutes of the video.

    Take a tritium vial, place it on the bottom, add a guide to the side of the inner jar, at the top position a heavy ball, outside of the reactor have the magnet holding it up. Drop the thing, let the tritium disperse, and that should do it.

    I'm trying to silence a machine which has 4 blower fans for GPUs (AI server). I'm trying to figure out if I can put the whole thing in a box and try to put sound proof ducting to get air in and out to try to reduce the noise.

    Very nice. I think the next thing to do is to design a PCB to tidy it all up. Any chance of seeing the code and ?complete circuit diagram?

    Should any one has the same sound issue as in the video. here a little advise. HPE server like to have original HP drives from any HDD manufacturer but with HP firmware on it. The reason is simple the HP storage controller must be possible to read the disk temperature. I made a simple test DL380p G8 with Samsung SSD 2TB. Without the disk Raid controller was at 58 degree and all fan silent. Once insert the Samsung SSD the Raid controller changed to 85 degree and all fan spin to full speed. and that simply server could not read disk temperature. OK I insert HP 2TB HDD and all was OK and silent. Insert a St4000nm0043 non HPE again fan spin up like nuts. So the FAN are controlled by the ILO and HPE is not sharing how to influence that detail. Simple solution was to get a Dell R720 that allows you to control the speed and so far any disk I plugged into R720 was no complain even a 16TB HDD was accepted.

    check out a keystone patch panel and then you dont have the punch down you can just use premade cables

  • @kyuthefox
    @kyuthefox 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    something that I would do instead of couplers is a secound patchpanel at the top, I use a keystone patchpanel on mine that also has the display outs and usb so I don't have any cable passthrough just patching.

    If you lose your voltage every half wave it seems that the ions will scatter and won't build up over time the way they would if there was a constant DC voltage.

    Years ago, I too had this exact same server and this exact noise issue. I was planning to build my own sound-proof server cabinet, but decided to decommission the HP and get myself a Dell R710. The noise difference between these two particular servers are worlds apart... Sadly though, I had to decommission my R710 too because of rising energy prices.

    No need to have such a massive transformer and waste of energy. You just need HV and minimal current. This transformer is good for HV and high current circuits. Too much for your needs here.

    That’s not how philo farnsworth Fusor operates. Why do people keep making typical circuits and say it didn’t work? If you learn anything from philo farnsworth work and his multipactor tube you would see it is not wired simply with opposing high voltages. The devices use high voltages of the same polarity with a neutral floating grid.
