INLINE SKATING meets 3D PRINTING
มุมมอง 366หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello Inline Skating friends. Recently I bought myself a 3D printer for some tinkering and fun. In this video I'm exploring what can be done with 3D printer for your skating boots. Specifically for this occasion, I wanted to print a protective part of the Tau boot that I've lost at some point. I was surprised how easily I managed to create such a complex curvy shaped part of the boot, it seemed...

4 months off skates turned out messy

I've been off skates for four months; consider this my skating winter. Skating daily for three years evidently took its toll, so I needed a break. This is my first serious skating session after such a gap, and as it always happens with me I fell again. Thankfully, I was fully geared up, so I only suffered a minor graze. The video highlights the moment I attempted Magic slide. In the slowed-down...

    I believe it is essential to know what are your bail out options. Do you have an emergency stop? Is there grass to fall onto? Do you have protective gear to actively use? Sometimes the danger isn't always apparent no matter how careful you are but the better you can analyse the situation, the more confidence it gives to improve at these techniques and when in unfamiliar places

      I have similar problem even though I live not far from city, but there are very few skating spots. I know all statable places in my neighbourhood. There just few of them. It can be as little as a square 5x5 square meters with acceptable surface, I’ll use it for practicing some moves. But hey, imagine for ice skaters they need dedicated ice rinks. At least we can skate on the street, I even practiced some moves in my garage during heavy rains. :)

    A friend of mine who does downhill and he told me that when turning you should always have the skates parallel to avoid slipping. He advised multiple time never to have one of the skates going before the other; that should only be done in flat not in slopes.

    • @nikoblading
      @nikoblading 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good point, downhill is something I haven't explored yet, it's something not for rockered frames for sure. The frame should be flat with a long base for the downhill skating. In this video I was trying to cover how to maintain low speed while going down the slope. Thanks for comment :)

    • @balazsjakabffy2556
      @balazsjakabffy2556 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I do both parallel and scissored, I never really had issues. The slopes I skate are not that big though, and I know nothing about downhill so maybe at very high speeds it doesn't work.

    Nice video! I always advise new skaters to get comfortable on slopes as quickly as possible and, as you say, maintaining control of your speed throughout IS the most import factor here. Skaters should aim to develop multiple ways of controlling speed on slopes, I personally like to combine parallel turns with the drag stop, and find it especially useful as a way of regaining control if the slope gradient increases unexpectedly. Skate safe! 👍

    Skating backwards down the slope and using powerslide caries much higher risk than all forward skating related stops. T-stop/drag combined with powerstop or soul slide is the most effective one and gives you best observation in all scenarios. Wearing down the wheels is something that is part of this sport and we should always prioritize most effective stoping techniques instead of pointing something which is quite non relevant since wheels are investment for this hobby and powerslide wears them down to ;)

      @@nikobladingThat's the point that's being made - it doesn't, "Depend". If safe traverse of incline is the priority, none of the techniques you promote here are at the top of the list - and to further suggest some kind of backwards powerslide for, "the most challenging and sharpest declines", actually seems dangerous and irresponsible.

      the technique shown looks incredibly safe though. he isn't sliding at all. he is slowly stepping down. personally I prefer the soul slide for shedding speed on a hill if it's too steep for the plow so I don't have to go fakie at speed

  • @ericbernardi8116
    @ericbernardi8116 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Bombing hills is some of the most fun on skates 🤠 but you need great confidence in all your slowing techniques, any fear will distract you, that is the real danger... You must train all stops enough until it becomes automatic, so you can focus on observing... And I kind of disagree with the drag, it is a very important speed control technique, it needs no prep, starts to slow immediately and can be used as entry for powerstop or powerslide ( it also gives good feel for grip on a following slide)... I rarely use the drag but it's always there if needed 😊 Another thing I see as a problem is that people use too short frames... Speed wobble is a confidence killer, feeling out of control even before doing anything 😣

    I've tried all kinds of setups and wheel configurations, and ultimately landed on 4x90mm (size EU44 boot). I really like starting off with a flat setup, but over time (as a result of carving, stopping, etc.), the wheels become ever-so-slightly rockered. When I rotate my wheels, I swap the two middle wheels , and switch the front and back wheels (similar to marcwechter3332's comment) . This maintains the rockered setup as it's naturally developed over time. The rocker is very minimal so I get a combo of stability and agility. I do this 4x90mm setup with my city skates, and a 4x80mm setup with my hockey skates.
