Vantage | Devlog 2
Hey, everyone!
Vantage has gotten major work over the past few days! I learned some new methods of Level Design, and more. I've also added some new cool things like a First Person Player Body, Climbing/Vaulting, Doors, etc.
If you are asking, no this is not the final style of the game. Mix this mapping style with the art style of *Devlog 1* and that's what the game will be like! I am currently going through a process called *Grayboxing* to get all of my styling and what not mapped out before I go in and add finer details.
I want to keep posting regular updates. This project is still in it's infancy, but I know exactly where I want to take it. However, please leave suggestions in the comments as I heavily appreciate them!
As soon as Multiplayer is in works, I will post a live demo on *Itch.io*! Keep posted for that!

Sorry for the long wait! I've been at the beach recently and haven't had too much time to work on my project. However, nevertheless I present to you DEVLOG 03! I've added another enemy! The Stinger is an enemy that will attempt to catch you off guard. Unlike the Scum who is a walking health packet, the Stinger can do some damage if you're not careful. Just saw this comment! Sorry about the wait I made this in Godot since my own in house engine, Xadrian, was buggy as hell. I have scrapped this game unfortunately, and with that I've taken a long break. However, I should be posting videos of my new project shortly!

Why use cryengine tho?
I wanted to experiment and expand my programming knowledge and step outside of Unity. Cryengine looked really nice so I gave it a shot. I figured I would make a tutorial on it since no one else has.

Anything different you did compared to mine? I know I should have done Coin-Punching but I chose not to since I was getting frustrated by 1-3 and wanted to finish this boss fight.

SIDE NOTE: I am currently developing this game on a Linux Desktop, and a Macbook Air. Windows is still important but will not get an update for a bit until I figure out a good way to setup a Virtual Machine (look it up) that will help compile my game for the Windows Platform.

If you're taking suggestions: please add abilities like AoE sholder bash or anything you can come up with.
I'm not too familiar on what that is. Are you referencing something like L4D2's tank where he charges with his shoulder? If you could help clear that up I may be able to implement it
@@OBJNULL Charge into enemy -> if collide with enemy -> explosion with low transparency as to not put too much information on the screen. (many edits because i want it to be clear)

@@OBJNULL Don't worry, it's a super generic ability. And you can't actually make a case against a game for having something that's similar to another, that would only happen if the game was a blaitant ripoff of another.
@@guliverjham8148 Good point, By Devlog 3 or 4 I should have it implemented, thank you for the idea! anything else? And I'll see how to implement that since currently when you're in the floor you do a Dodge maneuver like in Unreal Tournament.

Looks like a fun foundation and good art. My only criticism is the hud not being clear on how many dashes and when your gun is close to overheating. I'm glad I came across this and would enjoy watching the development.😊
The HUD is no where near to finished yet. That's just there so I don't have to look at the console logs, I put the unfinished HUD up so I have something to reference off of

You can change it in settings. I like the Classic Colored HUD and my weapons to be centered. All are in the game's settings

Cryengine is the best
doesn't work for me, I copied everything exactly and it doesn't work. I attempted to add these components and the float points aren't interchangeable, and while hitting play on the engine the camera movement as well as the regular movement don't work. Any help appreciated!
I'm not too sure. I've abandoned this engine for the very reason that it is Broken and Unusable. I made this video just as a little cool thing no one else tried that I could give a shot at. I recommend starting in UE4/5 or Unity, If you're confident enough try doing this in C++ with OpenGL. Cryengine has not aged very well and it's documentation sucks. If you need help with anything else I'm more than willing to help.

I might post a devlog, but currently, I'm not really happy with Anoix's development in Unity so I am moving it to a custom C++ game engine, I'm still debating on using OpenGL ( Easy to use, cross platform ), Vulkan ( More powerful, cross platform ), and DirectX (Difficult, Supported on Xbox) so it may be a while until Anoix, or if I rename it gets released. But the game will be 10x better and less buggy compared to this build.
