The Green Finch Celebrates its First Year in Business
Co-owners Colin Healy and Bradley Rohlf celebrate their first year of business, South City's theatre and dive The Green Finch, with a special edition of their weekly event, Drunk Voice Lessons.
Originally having met due to their mutual passion for theatre, Healy and Rohlf started a non-profit early into their partnership called Fly North Theatricals. This company creates performance opportunities for working actors as well as classes and scholarships for youth interested in theatre. As Fly North grew, Healy and Rohlf looked into starting a business, so they purchased the building that is now the Green Finch, located on Jefferson Ave. The Green Finch hosts many weekly events, such as a comedy open mic, a music open mic, and drunk voice lessons. With an attached blackbox theatre, the Green Finch also hosts many plays, musicals, and other artistic events. Healy and Rohlf overall wish to make local theatre and performance accessible, as well as create a booming community space.

The Truth About Crime in St. Louis

In recent years, published studies have labeled St. Louis at the top of the list, or near the top of the list, of the most dangerous cities in America. But because of St. Louis's unusual city/county government separation, ranking the city at the top of the list is not a fair comparison because almost every other city on those lists report their crime statistics for their entire Metro area. This is pure deflection and cope! As a city resident for 50 years, home owner, and married father of 5, this video is a painful lack of accountability. Being down from a massive spike in violent crime is still FAR above average. The school district has less than 17K students. The crime is real because there's no government accountability! Destructive and immoral people cannot create good government.

History literally repeats itself cyclically in STL and everyone knows everything but the answer and how to ask different questions to see the actual issue folks outside of St. Louis know. The St. Louis City Charter is operating as designed. Economic Growth and re-re-re-re development or "urban renewal" based off high crime, because of the ridiculously high taxes the most impoverished in city pay that go to these outside nonprofits that actually make a profit. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why high crime and highest taxes is in poor communities or Federal cases aligned with developers grabbing land. There is literally no incentive in being a law abiding tax paying citizen here where services like 911 are a luxury for certain areas and the laws break the laws just as much as criminals with no accountability. Cops crash cars as much as teens, whole owned homes stolen, slumlords are welcomed, city services corrupt, public school corrupt, towing companies corrupt. Everything is designed to drain the people and make a profit. Having Fed Reserve, River Port and International Airport means everything is pretty systemic for profit from the people here intentionally .....but the celebratory competitive crab in a barrel mentality allows this. Ain't nothing to pillage anymore by those in power and these unaccountable adults might have to learn hard way through experience like Chicago and NYC. The history, laws and cases are public along with the commission meetings. Nobody is interested besides SLU and Wash U international law advocates and endowments.
The lies the administration tells
There's no lies. The only lie is that "St. Louis is a “dangerous city" as it's based on a skewed statistic.
Just Google the most dangerous cities in the US. There is your answer.
The "most dangerous city" ranking do not take the city-county divide into account. The divide skews the numbers and artificially inflates the crime rate. If you compare the combined city-county crime rate, so that you're comparing apples to apples, St. Louis is nowhere near the most dangerous. The video explains this in further detail.
Fine, don't know which report you read but one thing you can't deny is that St. Louis City is not in the most safest cities reports. Also since 1950, St. Louis has lost 59% of its population. By far the largest decline in a city in modern times. Must be a reason for that.
@@missourimale5431 The main issue for both of these is the city-county divide. It was a bad political decision from the 1870s. The issue with the population loss is that as the population moved, the city was unable to expand its borders as other cities did because the borders were fixed when the city and county split.
The video is filled with hype, not facts. Sullivan gave rise to the idea of tall building aesthetically considered, He did not invent the I beam. Sullivan's most substantial details for the structure were the terracotta arched entrance and round windows on the first and second floor base of the building. They were demolished in the 1920s.
Harvey also insisted that his employees (both male and female) must always demonstrate "good moral character," and they would be fired for bringing "ill repute" on the Company name.
It's true !St Louis is crime ridden !!!
Apparently you haven't watched the video which debunks that misconception.
@@justinzeid212 Actually I have seen the article, AND I also know my wife was murdered while walking near the Fox theater by a black piece of crap! So yes I stand by my remarks that St Louis is crap !!!

Great story thank for sharing
Thank you very much.
In today’s world this generation don’t care about history it’s about fast money and fame
It's one of America's murder capitals........
Not true. If you watch the video, it'll explain why.
@@justinzeid212 yes, it is true, according to the FBI. Butbwhat would they know? They only take actual crime statistics, actually recorded by police and sheriffs departments across the country. But okay 🤡
@@elijahwilson1422 Because they're only looking at the city itself and not at the Metro area as a whole. The city-county divide skews the numbers and inflates the crime rankings. If you watch the video, it explains it.
@@justinzeid212 it's a shithole, end of story
@@elijahwilson1422 The FBI even says that these statistics should NOT be used to compare cities against each other as different cities have different geographic and political make ups. If you want to compare to other cities, use the combined city-county crime rate so that you're comparing apples to apples. Puts St. Louis much much lower on the "most dangerous" list.

AS SOMEONE THAT JUST MOVED HERE A FEW YEARS AGO. I AM AFRAID TO GO INTO THE CITY. IT'S NOT THE CRIME IN ST LOUIS CITY, IT'S THE DRIVE TO GET THERE THAT SCARES ME. IN ORDER FOR ME TO SAFELY GET TO THAT PART OF THE CITY, I HAVE TO GO AROUND THE SOUTH SIDE TO THE WEST SIDE, THEN ACROSS THE CENTER OF TOWN. IT TAKES TWICE AS LONG. SO WE JUST STAY NEAR HOME, AND DON'T VENTURE INTO THE WAR ZONES.
What are you talking about. It takes 20 minutes to go anywhere and there's no "war zone."
@@justinzeid212 YOU MUST LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE. WATCH THE NEWS.
@@dalenadwodny2915 I actually live in St. Louis County and go into the city all the time. I don't need to watch the news to see what's happening in the city. I'll go anywhere in the city (including Downtown) and see it first hand. And this video explains it perfectly.
@@dalenadwodny2915 I've lived in St. Louis City for 35 years and have no idea what you are talking about. Where exactly is this "WAR ZONE" you are driving through to get from point A to point B? Also, did you even watch the video? It specifically discusses that if you just "WATCH THE NEWS" you are getting a distorted view of what is actually going on. And PS - Turn your caps lock off.
Good you ain’t come in the 80s & 90s their was drive bys everywhere county & city Crips & bloods & D-Boyz etc gangs & groups sss battling everywhere
What dropped the crime rate was the Governor helping replace the prosecutor. The current Prosecutor has done a lot of work to help with the crime rate. The pay rate for SLMPD is laughable....33rd out of 35 in the region in pay and benefits. $1100-1200 a month for health insurance is way too high for a family while other departments in the region offer less than $400 per month.
Lies
Great story! 🥰
I love my city….. The Lou
I have been trying to point out what's wrong with the crime numbers for years. But a lot of journalists are too lazy to understand our weird political setup. The information on the SLMPDs use of technology was new to me, thought.
A lot of people just don't want to believe that the city is "safe." They want to believe that it's "dangerous" because of the current leadership in City Hall.
@@justinzeid212 for perspective, inn 2020 St Louis city limits only, population around 300k, had more murders than the entire Atlanta metro area, population over 6 MILLION. If that is not “dangerous”, then what is lol?
Every single person who thinks that St. Louis is dangerous and no one goes there needs to see this video. This video nails it.
I been in st Louis MO all my life nothing happen to me I like this city in the summer all people get along all racist 😊
@@JohnYoung-rt7gg Most of them never go into the city or they believe everything they see on the news. I go into the city and I see what's going on first hand. When it comes to the news, my belief is that they tend to overexaggerate everything because it gets viewership.
Just because you wish a thing to be true, doesn't make it true. St Louis IS dangerous. That's why everyone with a brain and the budget to leave has left. I drove a tow truck in north city/county for years. Lived in north city then Florissant, I live in Franklin County now. Coming to st louis now feels like driving in to Mexico, only Mexico had way less gunfire when I used to go to Tijuana. Keep fantasizing about your city while it turns to garbage and all the tax base flees.

So I guess funding the police is helpful.
No one ever said the police weren't funded.
Relocating funds to try a different approach doesn't sound horrible. If we kept doing things because "that's how they've always been done", we wouldn't be sending messages across the world. If something doesn't seem to be working, you CHANGE! Bigger and stronger is being replaced by SMARTER.
