Kobe Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia. He was introduced to basketball thanks to his father Joe Bryant, an NBA player. Kobe spent his childhood in Italy due to his father's career, where he developed a passion for basketball.
After returning to the US, he shone at Lower Merion High School and his high school success led him directly to the NBA. In 1996, he was drafted 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets and was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kobe won 5 championships in his career with the Lakers and made NBA history. On January 22, 2006, he scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second highest individual score in NBA history.
