Why people learn to service their machine like a professional... then go beyond
มุมมอง 1367 หลายเดือนก่อน
When it comes to sewing machine service skills, people join our programs for a number of reasons, but typically because they need to maintain and take care of their machines themselves, without relying on a service shop. But most people enjoy the process more than expected and look to go beyond. For many, that includes volunteering their services for organizations or individuals, but for many, ...

Setting up your air compressor for cleaning sewing machines
I have a Viking 6430 and the bobbin Case/Shuttle is very loud but stitches are good and no broken needles or thread. I've completely cleaned out all the thread/lint debris. Should I buy a used Shuttle and replace the one I have. Thank-you for your help.
I was given a random vintage foot pedal with my singer rocketeer and the plug in does not work with my machine, would I just be able to buy the lead cord that works with my sewing machine and use it to replace the wires in the incompatible foot pedal?
Where is you academy send me you address please
Hi thank you for this information! You explain things so well! Do you still send out the handout? THank you!
The tread stays on the top of the bobbin and then there's 2, I got a new bobbin case and it still does the same thing. It's clean no lint, can I send a pic?
I have had my machine for less than a month and already gone through three bobbin cases. It’s a heavy duty singer and it’s new. I am not sure why this occurring and was wondering if you have any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong. Another thought I had was is it possible to get an all metal bobbin case for this model to prevent breakage?
The black pieces one got broken :(
Happy New Year all!🎉
Happy New Year to you too! 🎉
Hi from NY
Great video - thank you for making!
Do you offer a certificates in your training? Best wishes.
I just bought a practically new 600 E. The tension mechanism was a little gummed up from its lubricant sitting for years. I watched the video on fixing tensioners on the MD2992 channel, after which I was able to disassemble and clean the tensioner. Adjusting the tension as I reassembled it was a lottle finicky, but not bad. I also cleaned and lubricated the machine. It sees like a champ! That bracket holding the "reel" doesn't work like that on my machine. It hinges up and catches. Maybe that piece is the problem, not the reel.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I never would have realized my bobbin case was supposed to be lodged in the cover plate !!! ❤
rhank uuu . this is my first time sewing and i thought i had broken it and i was so frustrated with myself.
I’ve had it with mine. I’m giving it away. I should have never bought a singer sewing machine. I’m going back to my 1908-1920(? )White Rotary. It doesn’t give me these issues, I can actually sew something right quick and not have it turn into a several hours long fiasco! Or in this case, I am on day 3 of the ford/dodge equivalent of sewing machines just trying to sew a 2 inch space on a t-shirt my dog accidentally snagged. Screw this singer machine, I’ll use the white machine. All I can say is F this singer machine, F these problems. Anyone want this stupid machine hit me up, you can have it! It’s a waste of the money I spent on it. I shoulda spent it on buying new pieces for the White Rotary. I’d also like to thank singer for the piece of needle I had to pluck from my cheek bone when the needle snapped, popped the housing cover off of where the bobbin puzzle is and send the needle tip right into my face. Pretty sad when I need to where safety goggles to operate a sewing machine that is far newer than the dinosaur sitting in my sewing room.
I would like a copy of the featherweight bobbin comparison
I would like the side by side bobbin comparison
Thank you for this video!! So simple and helpful, you prevented me from losing my sh!t when this happened- I thought I broke it!!🙏🥳❤️
The whole inside of the thing you are supposed to stick the bobbin in has fallen out of the sewing machine. How do I put it back in, so I can then put my bobbin back in?
My bobbin case spins, and then the needle hits it and breaks. How can I make the bobbin case stay put where it belongs? Nothing looks wrong with it, but even though it's snapped in, feels snug, threads correctly, as soon as I try to sew the bobbin case moves out of place and I have to start over. Help!
New to sewing. Haven't had any problems until I broke a needle sewing too thick fabric. ( I didn't know about needle matching to fabric). Now replaced needle but cannot get bobbin thread up as usual. Have done checks on threading to and bottom, checked bobbin casing, reread manual. No joy. Frustrated as sewing shops/repairs no longer available near me. Any advis?e
Janome is BANKING on these $50 bobbin cases 🤬
Not really, and it's not just Janome, it's all brands. This burrs and issues you find on these bobbin cases are mainly because of user error, either pushing or pulling the fabric through instead of letting it self-feed, or by using a home domestic machine like it's an industrial or commercial. They started using plastic bobbin cases because if they were metal, far more damage would be done when the needle hits the edge of a bobbin case, it would bend or destroy the needle bar and potentially other damage. Those that keep their machine serviced and don't "help" fabric through often never need a new bobbin case.
@SewingDocAcademy I sew about 12 minky blankets a day, and top stitch, and I usually don't have an issue but now all of a sudden I'm getting a e4 error and they say just push the bobbin winder to the right and back 3xs or so then restart the machine. I love my janome but it's starting to get whacky this is the 4th year using it nonstop.
@@hellosweetheart3350 Holy cow, please tell me you have your machine serviced at LEAST once a year? If you are sewing with minky, that's a lot of stress on your machine, and you can only stress your machine so much before it pushes back on you. Minky is a high-shed material, but also using a thicker material like minky, your machine needs to be regularly cleaned and lubricated. For my customers that do heavy sewing of any kind, but especially high-shed fabrics, I recommend quarterly service. This is one reason we teach people how to service their machines themselves: www.sewingdocacademy.com/ryc-special
Bobber issues
Can’t get that in australia unfortunately
My Singer HD 6800 just started wrapping the top thread around the feed dogs from underneath near the bobbin. Tension was good, sewing along with a decorative top stitch, and it just stopped. Cleared, cleaned, rethreaded, and again. Your thoughts? Bobbin case looks great.
going to try this on a vintage book press thanks for the tips
The needle hits the angled metal thing that goes around the bobbin and snaps the needle. Any idea why?
Hello, I’m having major issues with nesting. My top thread bunches up pretty badly within the bobbin case which is creating those ugly nesting balls. I’ve tried changing the tension knob to almost every single number. I even took out the bobbin case to examine it & I don’t have any needle holes nor have any damage to the case whatsoever. I’ve turned the tension on the case both ways to loosen & tighten to see if either works, and of course nothing worked…it still creates nesting! I’m literally losing my mind over here because I’ve been trying to get this machine to work for over a year now & no matter what I try nothing has worked.
How does that affect tension
It doesn't affect tension at all.
Trying to troubleshoot my needle not lining up to center. Needle is inserted correctly with flat side to left. Also, the presser bar is lined up correctly with the little lines. Needle sits very close to left side of hole in needle plate. It also rubs a bit on the left side of original presser foot. Help!! Any ideas what else could cause this misalignment. I’ve tried four different brands of needles with same result. I have a 1949 featherweight 221
You fixed our problem!
THANK YOU!!! Found a little 'tail' that I cut away and voila!! This fixed the problem of thread bunching in the back of the fabric. Savid my quilting day--was ready to give up.
Thank you so much! I have a last-minute project and this just saved me 🙏🏽❤️
Hi I’m a 59 year old man, that was Willed to me, this beautiful machine. I am trying to learn how to use this machine. So far your videos have been very helpful. I have subscribed to your page. Wish me luck. 👍🏼
Hello my sewing friend, I’m 68 and I got a 1938 as a gift & Im here to learn too! We GOT this! :)
I have been fiddling with my 603e i just got all day. It will wind a bobbin just fine, but wont sew. When trying to sew the top thread just wraps around the bobbin. I followed this video, rethreaded, cleaned, oiled, checked everything. Upon closer inspection of the manual for sewing after inserting a bobbin, i think the issue is that the the machine isnt bringing the bobbin thread up. When i try to get the bobbin thread to come up through the throat plate to create the loop so i can grab the threads, it doesn't come up, and if i keep turning the wheel, thats when the top thread starts winding around the bobbin. How do i fix this?
I signed up and have the app on my phone. Is there any way that I can do this on the computer or connect it to my TV so it's bigger for me to see? Thank you 😊😊

brother model JX2517 thread bobbin jumps up and down and no threads connect to sew
Can I ask (comment no 3lol). When the bobbin is in the case and you pull the thread, should it run freely or should there be some resistance to the pull ?
Also can I say I love your no-nonsense approach with very little waffling and faffing with long intros. It’s what I needed when I was losing patience and becoming intolerant having watching hundreds of other videos. I am your biggest fan .
You are amazing - thank you thank you thank you thank you (can’t thank you enough! 😂). I bought a 1957 221k and have struggled with it - had awful issues and you fixed it in the first 2 mins of this video. I was losing heart with the machine and your video was soooo helpful!! Thank you again. Fully subscribed - and am inspired to learn everything about my new (old) machine like you . Thank you (AGAIN!)
