Join me on the yellow brick road and follow my fibery adventures with wool! Just look out for those darn flying monkeys!!
Hi!
My name is Dorothy and I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore! I've lost my ruby slippers and I have no idea where Toto is.
This is a fiber podcast and you are invited to join me on the yellow brick road where I will be sharing my knitting, crocheting, weaving and yarn dyeing adventures. Maybe I'll meet a munchkin along the way that will teach me to spin - NOT that I need yet another fiber hobby.
Please comment and say hello! If you are another Podcaster and have constructive criticism to help me improve my channel, please let me know!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will join me on the yellow brick road! Just look out for those darn flying monkeys!!

Hi There, great podcast, love the breed study sounds like it will be very interesting. You are getting so organized, you are an inspiration ❤ happy new year my friend!
Thanks! Hopefully I can stay this organized all year!
That blanket is amazing! You are so very generous with your crafting time! Seinfeld was such a must watch show for me when I lived on Long Island.
Thanks. They just don't make TV shows like that anymore! Too bad, it was so fun!
How nice to see everyone so excited and appreciative of your beautiful hand knits. Warms the heart, for sure. Glad you had fun with your family. And nice to return to some quiet time too! Happy new year!!
Happy New Year!
It is always great to have people that appreciate the work and thought that goes into the gifts that you make for them.
Yes, it certainly is :)
It’s from Seinfeld. Loved those episodes!
Emmit Otter's Jugband - it's a Jim Henson special and truly wonderful!! I love the song "the bathing suit that grandma wore" it's so cute!! I've watched it here on TH-cam.
I'll have to check that out !
I was super slow opening the ink Art yarn advent calendar but loved it and so glad you recommended it to me. I am making a shawl with it instead of the pattern they included. it's called Potpourri by Dominique Trad. I saw Meghans and she did it in a fade and it was gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
Love seeing the scrubbies! And congratulations on finishing the blanket, it looks great! The other blanket WIP looks really pretty, you picked awesome colors! And, your Mom's top looks so beautiful! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🎁
Thank you and thanks for watching. Have a Merry Christmas yourself!
Yummy! I put a maraschino cherry on each toothpick when you put the ham in the oven and add a bit of the juice over the ham. I cook the ham in the juice and baste it every 20 mins or so ❤❤❤ my favorite 😊
Yes! I forgot the cherries. I saves the ham bone to make 15 bean soup this winter! yum :)
I knit throughout the year for gifts and call for folks who need warming items (I tend to knit mittens and fingerless mitts, because there always seem to be far more hats donated). I just blocked two sweaters (I test knit The Harvester, I LOVE it) and then finished my first Soldotna Crop (a long time coming, I bought the pattern way back when it was popular). Blowing through stash crocheting scrap baskets with handles - so incredibly useful!
The Soldonta has been on my "To Knit" list for a few years now! Maybe I'll finally get to it in 2025! I had to look up The Harvest - Wow! Nice pattern! Thanks for the suggestion of mitts! and thanks for watching! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
All finished, you are not a Dork lol, but yes those senior moments are a real thing! 😅
yes! that's a fantastic pronunciation! love that blanket on the chair behind you. heartbroken indeed since 11/6....
Oh good!!! Glad I got it right :) The blanket behind me is the Granny Stripe and I followed Lucy of Attic 24 free online pattern. Loved making it! Thank for watching!
Your spinning is lovely!!! People should know how much you do to organize our knitting retreats. I am so grateful to all the love, sweat, and I’m sure tears you put into it!!
Thank you!
Hey there, doing your show in 2 parts... loved the first half ❤
Thank you! Hope you are staying warm up there. We just had a little spring of snow here last week that didn't even accumulate on the ground.
I went to Magpie the weekend after you went and got Knuckle Sandwich on the Turtle Bean base, as well as Diablo on the same base. Glad to see the Dragonfly, Fiber Optic, and Hungry for Handspun spun up. So how does the size of your fiber stash compare to your yarn stash?
A lady does not discuss the size of her stash!! 🤣🤣🤣 (but definitely still more yarn than fiber!)
Another great episode. Those little ghosts are so adorable.
Thank you!
Glad to see the Fresh Olives spun up. Hopefully that steaming did the trick with the felted areas.
Loved your whole show, finally getting to the bottom ribbing on my Gaudi as Oenjoy your podcast! ❤❤😊
Thanks for sharing!! Such a lovely adventure ❤❤ and so much lovely acquisitions 😮
Amazing all of the work you've put into your nieces sweaters! You are the best aunt (and relative - socks, etc) knitter ever!
I love everything that you bought. Especially the braids- I don’t spin but seeing what you bought is amazing. oh I just subscribed first time finding your channel. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for subscribing! I'm super excited to spin up those fibers. I just can't decide which one I want to try 1st!
Everyone from Oreogn is screaming to all the podcasters, that is not how you say Shaniko...
Thanks for watching. How do you say it so I can correct myself next time??
Great haul! Wish we went back Sunday for some more fun with you and Melissa! Great trip with great people (and bourbon). 😊
Mel and I have decided we plan to do the same thing next year and just go home on Monday. 😁
now I’m sort of sorry I didn’t go, but there’s always next year
Looks like you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing your Rhinebeck with us!
Thanks for taking us along! Looks like a good time was had by all. Beautiful fiber and yarn acquisitions.
Was a great time. Maybe you'll join us next year!
Thank you for sharing your adventures
Your Rhinebeck recap is really well-done! And love seeing all your Rhinebeck goodies - can't wait to see what you will create! Thanks so much for sharing! 💗
Thank you.
Thanks for taking photos of my shawls at Rhinebeck. BTW, the owners of Into The Whirled are Cris and James.
I’m going to make the brioche sweater …NOT! But I did love the easy peasy chunky one. Maybe that will be my next sweater.
Holy Cow, so many lovely patterns, lots of inspiration ❤ I'm loving the crochet patterns as well. I just got the smokeshow by Thea Colman, it's cablework vest. I see you like cables, I'm going to try more this winter. Have fun at Reinbach! Yarn OR Fibre?? 😅 chat soon ❤ xx
Oh that a nice pattern too!! Can't wait to see it when you start! Not sure if I'm looking more for fiber or yarn at Rhinebeck. I will be bringing notes on a few of these that I really want to make and we'll see :)
Beautiful patterns! Thanks for sharing these!
You're welcome!
Lovely finished garments. As for spinning, I vote for Roses are Red.
Thank you.
My vote is for Miss Piggy Poo!!!
Roses are red gets my vote. Love your hexy cardigan, especially with the granny squares down the back. It looks great on you!
Thanks! I really enjoyed crocheting that cardigan.
Awesome sweater for your dad. Will you have it at the retreat so we can awe over it?
Most likely! Thanks.
i vote for the malabrigo even though it wasn’t a choice. 😅. loved the first two finished objects. i need to learn how to crochet.
I made my zip front cardigan from Letilopi, and I haven't had any issue with the coarseness of the Icelandic fiber. I do generally where it with a long sleeve tee, so the collar is directly against my neck. Spinning that fiber from the fold rather than worsted short draw will definitely change how the colors come out. I will try to remember to pull out my copy of Sara Lamb's book Spin to Weave. It has a photos of a similar top that was spun with each of the methods and the resulting yarn.
soak the letloppi sweater in a good hair conditioner. even a leave. in hair conditioner should work 😊 Cheers Love!❤❤
Thanks! I will definitely try that!
Which braid should I spin up next??
Looks like you had a successful TDF. So much to learn. It’s cool that you’re trying a wide variety of fibers. Yay for your niece and her Gold Star project! Pick up every Stitch sounds like a great store. Enjoy your last few weeks of freedom!
I have definitely went diving down the spinning rabbit hole! But it's been so much fun. If you ever visit any areas in NY and you are near Mt. Kisco I highly recommend a stop at Pick Up Every Stitch!
Wow!
So I'm two months late to the party but the wedding you went to would be your 2nd cousin because he's the child of your first cousin lol... your crochet garments are coming out really nice! I think i have an aunt that lives in Columbia...i also have one that lives in Bowie! I won't be going to Rhinebeck this year! However I'm going to SAFF so I'm very excited about that.
If you come out to visit family definitely let me know and we can get together!! I debating going to SAFF each year, so I'll be interested to hear your take on it!
@knitknotandweave8177 will do and I cant wait to go!!
Don’t blame Patrick. You did this to yourself!😂
He's already accepted full responsibility! Why should I change my story now? 😁
Good for you in learning a new skill. Looks like you picked up spinning pretty quick, too. The yarns you make all look very nice.
Thank you!
Of course it is my fault. :D You got a lot of spinning accomplished. I will be interested how you like the Upland. I have been eyeing it.
You bet!!
Thanks for another fun episode. Hope you are enjoying the TdF. It's cool to see the transition from fiber/braid to single to plied. Love your weaving. And all the treddle 'oops' look like design elements to me!!
Very much enjoying the TdF. I'm actually very glad that it's over the summer and not during the school year! This gives me time to focus and not rush. I need to learn to take more brakes when I'm spinning though and learn that I don't need to spin up a whole braid in a day! I don't know how I got into that mindset, but I think it has something to do with my ADHD! Still learning about that too since it's a recent diagnosis.
I look forward to seeing how the Fiber Optic braids spin up!
Me too! 😁
You are so busy! Great podcast! Love you!
That chicken! So fun!!
