🌍 Corteco’s Intermodal Transport Process: A Step Towards Sustainability 🚆🚛
At Corteco, we are dedicated to enhancing our operations while minimizing our environmental footprint. One of our key initiatives is the intermodal transport system for shipments between our Hirschberg (GER) and Pinerolo (IT) plants, which combines road and rail transport.
This innovative process, developed by our Freight Manager Erkin Demirol in collaboration with Ingo Kaiser, owner of our logistics partner IKG, ensures that 60% of the route is now covered by train. The results are impressive:
• 🌱 17,428 kg of CO2 saved annually
• 🚛 33,600 fewer kilometers driven each year
• 🌬️ 51% less particulate matter emitted
• 💨 50% less nitrogen dioxide (NO2) released
The journey begins at our Hirschberg warehouse, with goods loaded onto a truck heading to Karlsruhe. From there, the shipment transitions to a train, continuing its journey to Italy before the final leg by truck to our Pinerolo warehouse.
