OHH, a big sorry, I didn't see your comment above before! P.S. Don't be so frustrated about your pronounciation now, especially if you are learning Lithuanian for the first time... If you continue to practice, the pronounciation will indeed get better. Language learning takes time, and that is okay, no matter who you are. I believe in you, because you seem motivated :D

Thank you for this! Coming from Latvian, I find Lithuanian pronunciation somewhat difficult and I sometimes pronounce Lithuanian like Latvian (the same is the case w Estonian). 🤣I should mention that the emphasis markers you're talking about is actually a form of tone, which Latvian has too. It is different from Latvian, which is again a thing I have difficulties w. I am sure listening to this video, and other ppl saying Lithuanian will be helpful! Also - I love how you were able to sneak in some help for Ukraine at the end!

This is a really nice video, but I would not describe Estonia as not culturally "Baltic". In many ways historically Estonia and Latvia have a lot more to do with each other than Lithuania and Latvia. It's only nowadays with the birth of Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, and Finnish nationalisms has Estonia started to relate more with Finland and Latvia with Lithuania (and vice versa). But also, I am an outsider to some extent so I am sure that you have more direct experience with the culture of Estonia to know that presently it is a lot different, which is fine. I just felt like there should have been a bit more nuance there. (I am 1/4 Latvian btw - my great-grandmother with my grandmother and other family members escaped from Latvia when the Soviets about to invade Nazi-occupied Latvia. I have Latvian citizenship and such, and would like to live in Latvia for some time. But I am also quite interested in Lithuanian history and culture, which is why I am here haha.)

I’m so happy to receive some comment! I was recording my next video when I received your comment :) As you said, Estonia might be more culturally related to Baltics, because yes, of course as we are close to each other, there is more cultural impact… But there is that nationalism. After all, I guess, this is a controversial topic and it depends how Estonians identify themselves, but who are we to say? Maybe this video just offers the perspective where Estonia is closer to Finland, but it doesn’t mean that other perspective is wrong. We could use both of these aspects to describe Estonia, whereas they both describe some historical or cultural part of them 😅

@@Azhuolpamooshe It does make sense to say that both are aspects of Estonia, not just one. It makes sense also to say that this video represents one of them - people will learn of others if they spend more time learning about that area of the world. Perhaps part of this comes from my love of Finnic culture as well as Baltic culture (as well as Slavic to be honest) - my family actually derives from very close to the "Livonian" area of Kurzeme, so I may likely have some Finnic ancestry as well as Baltic ancestry, which I think is neat. To some extent it is just very difficult to put barriers and borders between all the various cultures, since it does seem as if throughout history Germanic, Balto-Slavic, Finno-Ugric, Iranic (and much later Turkic and Turko-Mongolic), and some Indo-European and non-IE peoples whom we don't know much about (Illyrians, Dacians, Thracians, etc.) influenced each other very much and that covers a huge area!
