“Every conflict over truth is in the last analysis just the same old struggle over immortality. If anyone doubts this, let him try to explain in any other way the life-and-death viciousness of all ideological disputes. Each person nourishes his immortality in the ideology of self-perpetuation to which he gives his allegiance; this gives his life the only abiding significance it can have. No wonder men go into a rage over fine points of belief; if your adversary wins the argument about truth, you die. Your immortality system has been shown to be fallible, your life becomes fallible. History, then, can be understood as the succession of ideologies that console for death. Or, more momentously, all cultural forms are in essence sacred because they seek the perpetuation and redemption of the individual life.” Ernest Becker, Escape from Evil - Chapter Five - The New Historical Forms of Immortality Power, page 64.

I don't believe the problem with game addiction is the problem that people are addicted to games but that they have no alternative Kind of like phone addiction, If you have nothing else to do and you're just sitting there being bored, of course you're going to go to something that's entertaining. The problem is if you don't ever look for anything else it starts to become a problem, And then it does start to become an addiction where you turn away from other things in your life that need attention because nothing else does satisfy. Guess this is just a result of America's ravid desire for individualism and Self-Serving desire made it so that we lack community and therefore are very lonely.

I love both. When I was in elementary school I love reading both Science for kids and folk tales (there weren't many stories for children I could get access to accept traditional folk tales collections and magazines.) I was more into Science related books, texts and contents later on but thanks to my junior high headteacher who taught Literature and a friend / upperclassman who is passionate about both Science and Literature, I enjoyed both.
