What oil do you use when you first start a fresh engine ?
@@anthonyprowog5074 we use the Rotella t6 5-40 synthetic oil. We don’t use any break in oil and have never had any issues with it.
What is the break in procedure how do you know when the rings are bedded in ?
Great Video. I also have the same question as the others. I build Briggs and Tillotson motors. I have heard if you move the flywheel counter clock, you will retard the timing and give more low end torque and if you move the flywheel forward you will advance for more high end hp. is that true and how do you convert the reading on the caliper to degrees? Thanks again for the great video.
I am running a raptor block I have 320 BTDC with the head on. Could I give it some more timing ?
@@anthonyprowog5074 raptor engines we usually run them between 350 and 400.
What if you don’t have an adjustable flywheel and you need to advance and retard it from the coil. To advance it, do you go forward on the coil or back?
What if you don’t have an adjustable flywheel and you need to advance and retard it from the coil. To advance it, do you go forward on the coil or back?
@@anthonyprowog5074 They make offset keys that will help advance or retard the timing. Some coils are adjustable.

Do you have to run your shims in the rear clutch. I have a narrow belt and want to rise the belt higher is that the best way to do it ?
@@anthonyprowog5074 No you don’t have to run the shim.
I haven’t ran the car yet with 45 inches pounds yet. Before that I was running around 35 what do you think is going to happen now with the helix @ 45 ?
I am maxed out on my helix with a yellow spring and a got around 45 inches pounds

Where does the coil fire at ? Also on the flywheel , where does it fire at ? For timing you said that on the left bolt arm is where to time the flywheel but I’m confused as to where it ignites .
@@Greybuiltracing Great question! It ignites right where you line up either the left edge of magnet to right edge of pickup pin or left edge of magnet to right edge of the left leg, just depends on which coil you have.

How much of a RPM drop should you have @ the gear change off the hit
@@anthonyprowog5074 the first shift will Ron up to 8100 to 8400 and then it will pull down 6800 to 7000 and then work its way back up over the run. This is with a 790 clutch with 12.30.24 ramps. Every setup is a little different.

I have a 4 pack of these on an old toyota and am having a hard time getting the idle to come back and not get hung up high unless you blip the throttle (smack it). Also the throttle at proper idle rpm the throttle feels stuck from the vacuum on it. Drives fine once off idle. I’m thinking after watching this the low air jet is too big causing the slides to have to close all the way, the carbs don’t seem to like that. What do you think?
@@hotdoghogie yes leaning out the idle circuit will open the slide a bit more which could help your issue.
Would putting a green spring in a 890 car slow down the Reaction Times And what ramps and weights would be ideal for that setup
Lily Is Red Lighting a lot Need to Slow down her Reaction Times
@@denniswebb1962 if going from a purple spring to a green spring it will raise the stall. So instead of engaging at 4600 it will engage at 4800.
