เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 30 มิ.ย. 2015
The MRC Epidemiology Unit is a department at the University of Cambridge. It is working to improve the health of people in the UK and around the world.
Obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders present a major and growing global public health challenge. These disorders result from a complex interplay between genetic, developmental, behavioural and environmental factors that operate throughout life.
The mission of the Unit is to investigate the individual and combined effects of these factors and to develop and evaluate strategies to prevent these diseases and their consequences.

Introduction to the Demands for Population Health Interventions (Depth) tool
มุมมอง 904 หลายเดือนก่อน
Interventions to promote diet and physical activity may affect socioeconomic inequalities in health. The differing demands that different interventions place on individual resources - e.g. time, finance and mental capacity - may explain why some interventions are more likely to widen inequalities than others. The Demands for Population Health Interventions (DEPTH) framework categorises populati...

Realising the health potential through sustainable built environment designs
This is awesome work by Prof Mike Lean. I'm interested and deeply invested. Would like to learn more and possibly collaborate.
This is such an interesting lecture! Hope to see more of your team's research
For the sake of 1%, why is the focus still on reducing saturated fat? In contrast, skimmed milk stimulates 2.5 times as much insulin as whole milk does, calorie for calorie. That has to be of bigger detriment. Also, health professionals still telling people that complex carbs are digested to glucose slowly, when measured (by Glycaemic index since 1981) the vast majority aren't.

im pretty sure, no one will give me the comprehensive answer on my question here, however here it is: How to measure the influence of actors on each other in a causal mechanism while doing process tracing? p.s. Derek Beach is a genius. had pleasure to meet him personally.
I think you'd have to find theory-based traces that suggest this type of influence on each other ;) and then test it (that's a way of doing it)

Walking tracks and bike lanes with trees and green foliage and significantly shielded from metropolitan traffic noise-pollution would undoubtedly have an additional psychic health benefit. They would moreover be less daunting and more appealing for older and frailer people and nature lovers and imply a regular escape from urban concrete greyness, noise, toxins, constant stress and more. Stress levels will become perceptibly lower and your eyes will thank you, since now you will bless them with a sight of freshly blossoming flower, that will probably also change your perception of time. Imagine also occasional enclaves on such tracks for farmers and bakers to sell their organic products directly to the public? Perhaps many psychiatrist and health Gurus in urban jungles may potentially loose their jobs. Costs for such projects will be however be probably more than compensated by significant reduction in costs incurred by fighting diseases and for drugs like antidepressants.
Just an observation. The circled boxes is an example of pairings of what the coach does and behavioral change elicited on the part of the participant. In a causal chain. As an evaluator, I thank-you for that insight. :) Oh, and BTW the causal analysis is a lot like traditional Theory of Change M&E analysis.
really great
This is a very fruitful lecture. I haven't taken any class about process tracing in real and now I don't think that I need anymore because I took an online class from this video. Thank you very much for this wonderful lesson. Now I can use this method for my research.
This is very fascinating. It is not only simple to follow but deeply profound.Excellent job! Doctor am wondering wether I could get to see the full slide of this lecture particularly the game theoretical layer.
