Hello and welcome back to The Watercress downs model preserved railway. My names Rose and welcome back to my build. After a break for decorating to be done i am now back to the model railway build. Today is an update on the next part of the build. I have 2 Helix to build. I started with 10 boards of 6mm plywood and cut them down to make 20 smaller boards. The video explains the next operation a...

Update 4 of my model N gauge railway build. Bit of a slow month waiting on orders to come in. Lots of wiring, you will see that next video. Mucking around with points, again next video. Nearly finished the fiddle yards off which is a bonus this month and thoughts on wiring, turntables and modifying the car! You'll see. If you need a laugh, check out my sons madcap and hair brain adventures. He ...

Welcome to part 3. A little update on the build. My apologies, some of the camera work is out of focus. Different camera problems but you can get an idea..... Sorry for the abrupt ending, it didn't record my sign off? Everything that could go wrong went wrong trying to get this video filmed and uploaded. Just typical, hahaha. Part 4 should go easier, fingers crossed.
Camping at Walesby woodland caravan park.

Good afternoon, we had an overnight camp at Walesby woodland caravan park, just outside Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. We needed to try out a new tent, a Coleman 4xl weathermaster. It was a nice night, bit chilly but dry. Took my partner Andrea with me. We are planning our honeymoon for next year and have decided to do it with a tent....crazy right? We had a little visitor, not easy to get a clo...

An update after a months work on the railway, i managed to order parts i needed. I glued some stuff and worked even more stuff out. And why did i keep saying Watership line???? My next project

Its been a while due to issues with not being able to upload videos and a load of other stuff. Life gets in the way sadly. Anyway this is my next project to stop me going mad. I did want to do an OO gauge railway but lack of space has meant that i needed to settle on N gauge. It will be on 3 levels with the lowest level being under the main scenic board. The level i am starting on is the storag...
A little rant about Trans-phobic shops and shop assistants.
มุมมอง 5538 ปีที่แล้ว
Just needed to have a rant, i have learnt that its better to deal with then let go of issues that get me angry. Before i came out i used to bottle things up which wasn't a good way to deal with problems. Coming out showed me that there is always a better way to deal with troubles, issues or emotional baggage. Get it dealt with, then walk away from it. Its dealt with !!! Some shops are trans-pho...

Added some flashing lights to my outdoor wheelchair as a safety feature. Most drivers ignore steady lights but flashing lights does get their attention. Just a simple 555 timer, a decade counter chip and a chip darlington switch block. The power regulator is a switching type as they are more efficient than a standard linear regulator. 5 weeks in on HRT and having some fun.
มุมมอง 4048 ปีที่แล้ว
Well, its been 5 weeks since i started the HRT regimen as a transgender woman. Its been an interesting 5 weeks, the changes have started to happen but its early days. Everyones experience is different, all i can say at this point is "ICEBERGS!", but the changes will continue to happen as time goes on. Anyway, we shall chat and catch up in about 6 weeks time, all the best, Rose
Good news at last.

I finally have good news. The road block that was making me feel awkward and frustrated has been lifted. Things will now start moving forward which is a great relief. The editing lost the ending so i shall say "Thank you for watching and i will follow with an update later on. All the very best for now."
Me in front of the camera, finally.

Hello there, i am Rose and i am a woman, i also happen to be transgender. I am not usually in front of the lens but decided that it was time to put myself in front of the lens. I have moved and been very busy so i still have a lot of things to get sorted before i get back to "Normal."
Lerwick and Genevieve shawls
มุมมอง 40K13 ปีที่แล้ว
Just a quick upload to show you the two fine lace shawls i am curently working on. Plus a useful tip to help save some pennies! The wool from France is pure lambswool and although expensive, is not much more expensive when you consider just how much length you get for the weight. But they are doing a kit with the wool, and buying that way will be cheaper than by buying individual hanks. The lam...
What an ingenious way of cutting circles… love it
Its the easiest way to so it. Some cutting was done indoors but the majority is done outside.......
Can’t wait to see the finished project, how exciting!!!
Yea, I’m so glad you are back!!!!

Looking forward to your shall video update. Thank you Rose. Cécile from Paris
Sorry, am not into trains. But I will watch the kniittg video. Best of luck. Cécile from Paris
It’s gorgeous, indeed.
Are you still knitting? So beautiful, your earlier videos. Lovely to see you are still posting. Hugs from NZ ❤
Hello Kiwi-Mel, yes i am still knitting although at a reduced rate. As you may be aware life changed for me 8 years ago and i no longer feel the need to knit. I did take a break for a couple of years. I am finishing one off at the present, a Shetland Hap. Using oddments so its very colourful. But i have a few i want to do so as they say, watch this space. xxx
Ya know Rose, God doesn't make mistakes, we are given a gift of life, its up to us to decide the path. Robert Frost poem the line..the path less traveled kind of sums it up. We get to choose which path. We have free will, if we choose to do good or not. We have no right to judge anyone that's God job. Thanks for sharing...Oh you're quite a good knitter!!!! 😊
Been knitting for years, since childhood. So i am pretty experienced. I always try not to judge if i can help it, but thats the christian side of my life for you.
@@LincolnshireRose Mine too, I only judge the fruit at the grocery store. LOL
Thank you for sharing the wool and the pattern. I'm intimidated to start a piece like this but finding the yarn makes me more confident about spending the money.
I would never think of charts as cheating, looks easier than written directions
Miss you!
Do you 'block' the shawl after completion?

Wonderful work! Congratulations!
Thank you
Are you still knitting? Would love to see the finished shawls!
Why don't you post anymore? Your knitting is so beautiful!
I have stopped knitting due to increasing disability that affects my hands, as for posting? I have camera issues but hope to sort something soon. And thank you. Everyone can knit and produce beautiful works of art. It's not hard, if you can knit, even basic knit, then YOU CAN knit shawls. xxx
@@LincolnshireRose I am sorry to hear that. Take care!
Thank you for sharing your story with us Rose. So powerful! Keep being your amazing and wonderful self ❤️❤️❤️
Iam brasiliam. I need to grow here and need videos.
May i to use your video? Im my channel? Lets to grow your channel?
Thank you so much for sharing! You are so talented. The Genevieve shawl is definitely high up on my ‘to do’ list. Hopefully I can find the pattern for it. Any tips on where I could find one please?
Evening, thank you for your kind comments. The pattern and wool were available from www.renaissancedyeing.com but they are not currently doing the pattern but i can really recommend their wool for lace knitting. Sharon Miller was selling the pattern in Heirloom-knitting.co.uk but that has closed. However, she is on Etsy and you can find her shop on that site. Currently she doesn't have the pattern available but if you email her sharonemiller2002@yahoo.com and enquire about the Genevieve shawl pattern she may be able to help. So some good news for you hopefully. All the very best
LincolnshireRose brilliant! Thank you so much!!!
How are you doing
I am doing well Maureen. Still plodding on. Hows you?
I have often thought about you and your journey. You so impressed me with your openness about your life. I am so very glad you are well. I hope you can get to update your health and your knitting projects. Much luck from Pennsylvania!
@@maureengurnick3773 Health as usual is always going to be a slow decline. You either accept that and make the best of life or you give up on life. I have chosen to accept it and be happy about what i can do. And not worry about what i can't. As for journey, well its still very much ongoing. Transition is a long process, its not easy but you have to learn to be patient. Nearly at my destination so its not much further to go now. As for knitting? I did put the projects down for a period of time. It was down to the knitting being something HE did. I have recently come back to it and am getting back into the swing of things. I have a Hap on the needles at the present and a cape to finish. I have also decided after much thought to build another fairground organ.....from my wheelchair. It will be a challenge but thats my life and i am good at challenges. hahaha Thank you for your kind words, all the very best. xxx
@@LincolnshireRose I think of you often and the changes you are going thru. So much to deal with but I find your courage to be inspiring. I too am going thru many changes, divorce, repairing a house to sell, helping my son deal with the changes. I have no family on this side of the u.s. we will be moving across the country in the spring. Surgery for a shoulder replacement in January, so much but I get up thinking that all this is simple compared to you and your changes. I have started knitting for relaxation. I am a crocheter by heart but the knitting goes slow enough for me to think. I hope all goes well, remember there is someone ac Ross the pond that hopes and prays for you
I still check hoping to hear if you are alright
I've been a crocheter since I was quite young and blocked the talent on her death. It was many years later that I picked up yarn again, and just began as if time had not altered my skills. Miracle, I think. Anyway, now I'm 50 years old, and attempting to learn knitting. It's slow going, as my hands want to hold the yarn like I'm crocheting. Ugh. But I absolutely LOVE your work, and really wish you'd post more videos showing your creations, or even your skills, with some pointers for doing lace work.
I tried to find the "cone" of lace yarn you were referring to, but was unable to do so. Would also love a video update, if you have one, ... such nice hand.
Well!!??
WOW!
I'm trying to teach myself shetland lace knitting. Do you use "life lines" when knitting lace? If not, must you "knit back" to a mistake to avoid dropping stitches? Thanks for any help
Janet Lynn Edwards lifelines are always a good idea! I do a lot of lace knitting and it can save you some headaches. I usually do mine at the beginning of every repeat. For complicated patterns I do them every 10-20 rows depending.
Any updates? I hope all is well.
Hello Maureen, all is going well. Been a very busy time the last year but you have reminded me that it is time for an update. I shall do my best to get one up over the next week. Thank you for asking, all the best, Rose xxx
How do you keep track of the rows when using a chart...do you Mark them off?
Its a combination of different ways actually. I can see the pattern develop and know how many repeats i have done, some patterns don't repeat so you have an idea of progress from that but yes, i usually have an envelope in my bag or with the pattern (an old one that came through the mail is a good way to recycle) and i mark off the rows that way. Its only an issue if i realise that i have forgotten to pencil them down. The old way that i fall back on then is to physically count the ridges at the back of the piece. Usually those rows are the Odd rows and done in Knit. (Lace is often knitted every row but patterns vary) So if i have 30 ridges and am about to start my return (what would be a Purl row in Stockingette) then i have done 59 rows and i am about to do my 60th row. Hope that helps. Oh and i always have my wool tail on my left when i am knitting across odd rows. (1,3,5 etc.....) That means just looking at the knitting i know if i am on an odd or even row.
Thank you so very much for the tips, I find this very intimidating, but I will still try a lace pattern. I am a very slow knitter but find it to be a stress reliever. Have a great day!
My pleasure to help, slow and steady wins the race. Speed is not necessary.

Hey LincolnshireRose, have you tried shopping in Your's Clothing. They have some really nice clothes also Curvissa is really good. I am just starting my transition MTF I'm 28.
I really enjoyed seeing what you are doing with your knitting. I also like fine yarns. I am trying to learn how to knit lace. You are an inspiration to be sure!
Beautiful work! I can see you like "posh" yarns.
A graceful elegant shawl. Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing
Stunning shawl, magnificent work , I ´d love to do it myself but I can´t find the pattern , it isn´t on Ravelry, can you help me?
Hi, I am a lace knitter myself and have recently purchased some of Sharons' patterns. Did you finish your two? Can you post showing how you finished/dressed them (is it the same as blocking)? I would love to see your progress, if you can do a follow up.
Awesome work 🤗
that is a stunning shawl, where do you find the pattern for it
Followed cuz of your knitting but this is even better to see! Stay strong! You are so positive. I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel. Thank you sharing
I'm teaching myself to knit - i would say I am at an intermediate level - would love to tackle a lacy shawl any suggestions on patterns thanks 😉 Happy New Year from LA, California
Both are gorgeous! anyway we can get a video on dressing shawls- I'm scared I'll mess up all my work
So beautiful. Thanks for sharing. After visiting Shetland Wool Week two years ago I returned home with two lace knitting books by Sharon Miller. I have started to knit the center piece of the Lerwick Lace Shawl
totally agree with you, all the pain shows on your face, but power too you , you look and sound such a warm person , and life gives us lemons , instead of , love to you my friend xxx
best of luck my friend xxx ps don't die , take it easy xxx
lol! I am 63 and a great grandma , have been crochet ing since I was five , got thrown out of knitting class , cause of being left handed and dumb , but if you are going to do a knit a long , wow! I am eager, just tell me what to get ready , by the way love your flashing lights , wishing you much happiness , my friend , wished you lived near me ,then we could have a cup of tea together , so talented hugs sent to you xxx
Thank you so much for your reply , and for your encouragement , shame I can't meet you than you could show , cheeky ain't I , but wishing you much happiness xxx
Maybe i should do a video? Should be easy enough....give me a week. :) Thank you, cheeky maybe but then it does have a tendency to work. Its a duty for us older knitters to help teach the younger generation. These skills will be lost if we don't. Keep an eye out for an update soon. All the very best
stunning , just learning to knit myself, do you think I will one day be able to do something like this , just loving your vids keep them coming , and the very best to you much love and happyiness sent your way xxxx
Hello Georgina, i am sure that you will be able to do shawls like this. They are not much more complicated than a jumper. They just use some unique methods. There are shawls you could knit now as a beginner. A simple triangular shawl can be done in DK or Aran. Use a 4mm needle for DK and say a 5 mm for Aran. The base pattern is cast on 6 sts. Knit 4 rows. Now onto the pattern.....Knit 3, yarn forward ( and the next stitch you take the wool OVER your needle to knit that stitch. This makes a lace hole) and knit to end. Turn and repeat that last row again. You are making one extra stitch every row. It also gives you one hole every row. Keep knitting until your shawl is about 36 inches long. Cast off loosely ( You can do this by casting off with a bigger needle say 7mm.) Alternatively you can cast off by knitting off a ribbon edge but that is more advanced, Once cast off you have a triangular shawl, darn in the ends and if you like (and if you know how) crochet a basic edge down both sides and then attach some tassles. If you can't crochet just use a crochet hook to make tassels along the two sides. (You put the hook through an edge stitch, take a length of wool and place over hook, pull loop through and then use the hook to pull the two wool legs through the loop you just made. Just like using a latch hook to make a rug) These are so simple i teach beginners to make them ;) Hope this helps? Just remember, shawls look complicated but only use simple stitches. Its the techniques like knitting in the round, or knitting "borders in" that is more complex. There are some good lace books out there which may help a little later on. All the best Georgina.
Wow, what beautiful work you do! Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing.
