    Back in High School, we did a couple of weeks Work Experience. I already knew that I'd be doing something related to electronics & communications so as a novelty, I went down the list of available workplaces & their respective Salaries. One of the top 5 on the list was Mortuary/Funeral Assistant. Don't know if it was curiosity or the weed, that's where I went. I rocked up the first day to find the owner was also a collector of Organs (no pun intended) of allsorts & when he wasn't preparing the dead, he enjoyed tickling the ivories all day long. I was scarred for life. At 17 min on your vid, with the red filter & organ vibes, I had flashbacks. Wish I had a reefer now.

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore วันที่ผ่านมา

      Haha that does sound traumatic. The organ is an intense sound. Think of the makeup artist getting the corpse ready and getting into it listening to that! You have to eventually right???

      The first 4 units I ever purchased were, SH-101, Dr 55, Ibanez analog delay & the RS-09 Strings & Organ. The RS09 still sounds great today. Actually, the older & dirtier those circuits get, the better it sounds.

    • @ModIcore
      @ModIcore 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @AA-ge4uj Dirty circuits just sound great on analog synths. This is why it was hard finding a replacement for the mono/poly. You must of been happy when digital synths came out and was able to make all sorts of fun organ sounds! I know you don't like the dx7, but that was good for them (sines!)

    • @AA-ge4uj

      Yep, when DCOs started happening, I scored DX7 & the Crumar Bit-01 Rack. I just didn't like the tacky UI on the DX, like the Japs at Yamaha got lazy. If they'd have made a strap-on Programmer like Roland did I would've been a happy camper. The Bit 01 gets my vote. Mono/Poly was just out of financial range back then & none available 2nd hand yet. I pointed funds at the 808 coz Dr55 was done & 303/606 which were sold as a Marked-down Set & finally a Korg VC-10 coz electronic music is poopoo without a robot voice. Oh, and a Yamaha CX5M I picked up because it ran the OPL Chipset, like the DX. It made a decent budget 47-key Master keyboard plugged into the Atari SX booting off a Cubase Floppy. Fun times. They can keep their "Dawless", in those days, we prayed for what we have today. You can give someone an OsTIrus with 60,000 Presets on a USB Flash & they'll love you for it. I can open Cubase & not think about how much cash I'll need for a decent digital delay to get some doubling happening. It has Delay, plus Flanger, plus Phaser, plus Distortion, now it has Modulators. Hats off to the coders. Dawless is overrated. & going backwards.

    Don't be so harsh on you, it's a jam, relax. And who needs a Sequencer, you can actually play. Have you tried Cubase pro 14 yet? Don't know if it's included in what you purchased. It has an Ableton style Drum Rack now called Drum Track. ByeBye Rewire. It also dances a very fine line of Bitwig Copyright Infringement but who cares?

    • @ModIcore

      @@AA-ge4uj Thanks AA. I haven't tried C14 and I don't get a free upgrade as I bought it in May and upgrade grace is from August. Didn't they have something kinda similar called groove agent? It just seemed more cumbersome though. It looks like you can load Bitwig projects in now cool. I wonder if in 10 years Yamaha buys them all and you just select which one you want to use when you load Cubase. They all overlap anyway.

Since implementing the tie-down system on the roof, its not a hassle anymore. I already deleted any trees that might hit us if they fall. Finally based on past disaster-levels of flooding, the maximum our house would get inside is about 6 inches & everything lives above that since last year's nightmare. The genny lives outside, covered & sitting on a couple of monster ATV tyres & even though the local power company implements a preventative island-wide shutdown during an event, our power never dies. Back in the day, we (3 of us) used to do what we did through the week in our bedrooms but come Sunday, we had a Rehearsal space permanently rented with all our allowances, 10am-10pm. 4ltr Red wine, 4ltr White wine, 14 gms of Parsley & the good old Roland PA-250. You don't really know what your gear sounds like until it's made to push some big-ass speaker cones back'n'forth. Black & white different. It forces you to make adjustments to many of your patches. There were some patches that I used to have Studio version & separate PA version & that was before Subs were even a thing. Son of Cray Supercomputer sitting in your bedroom & Cubase is glitching? Was it doing anything like that with the old box or Cubase 5? Maybe your friend's kitten has crawled inside looking for a warm spot to relax?

They taught us how to setup various Live situations but the line arrays weren't that popular back them & so the course didn't cover them. Thanks, now I'm probly going to be scouring TH-cam to try'n find a vid to see how it's done. Re Cubase, that's a shitty glitch. @Synthitate Nice video! I read through the comments and see you’re having a few technical issues… One thing you might want to do is graduate over to Ableton. There are plenty of tools in Ableton, like glitch machines, audio tools, to include soft synths as well that can expand your music. As for speakers, I have a pair of Carvin reference monitors and a matching amp that pushes 75W rms… plenty for a small room. I have had my music play through a huge PA system a few times… as long as the system is set up right, and EQ properly, it will sound good. Yes, your environment has a lot to do with how your music will sound also. Phasing and EQ play major roles with this. One “test” you can do is to run your music through a mono bluetooth speaker. JBL and ONN make those… If your music sounds great through that, then you know it phased and EQ right. Also check it in various other locations / devices, like a car, or boombox, indoors, outdoors, various rooms, etc. Cheers!😊

      The little things it has to bring it to the modern age really make it worth it to me. They really packed a lot into this and the price feels like a steal. Going to take so much time figuring out though; the waveshapes alone are so sensitive and hard to find the shape you are looking for (like the sync wave in my video that ended up just being fmish, I remembered it being 3quarters turned but nope!)

      I hope she finds her Kitty. It might be on what we call "The 1st Big Adventure", which is literally that. As they grow up, with every stroll, they make a mental map of their surroundings. It's like one day they want to test it, combined with curiosity of all the surrounding smells, launches them. After that, it's up to them to make it home in one piece or not. As humans, nothing we can do about it except pray. After all, cats are still essentially wild in that through history, they never benefited(?) from human-controlled selective breeding becoming more & more docile, like dogs. If you release a cat in the wild, it has all the faculties, mental & physical to survive. If you do the same to a dog, it's dead within a week. We are up to number 8 or 9 in the forecast of 16 typhoons before Xmas, dodged the bullet every time so far (as he knocks on wood). The thing that bugs me about a lot of synths, new & old, I prefer my ADSR on sliding faders, it gives you a better idea of the shape at a glance.

      @@AA-ge4uj The kitty did come back! Thank gosh. Interesting, I never thought about their ability to live in the wild no matter how domesticated they are! I find a lot of cats get scared, then run and can't find their way back. I had two cats that did that. Do you forsee the typhoons getting worse? I'm concerned because if that happens, there is an even slimmer chance of dodging it. As for envelopes, I get that. The problem is with patch storage it isn't usually correct. I think folks from your home country made rotary knobs to adjust to each latch setting but missed the opportunity to have sliders for the env. I've disliked sliders mainly because they get noisy faster. Wishing the best.

      Hmmm. Maybe our cats have an advantage because they have about 40 brothers & sisters feeding their scent into the air & once the breeze is in their favor they can home-in on home. Thanks to climate change, typhoons have started forming closer to land than they used to so less warning time & apparently they've gotten bigger so that super-typhoons (mass) are almost the norm now. They do freaky shit too, like the one that hit us last Xmas, it struck us, went away & then a day later did a proper U-turn & got us again on New Years Day so yeah, Unhappy New Year that one. I still get a buzz out of them though coz we don't have anything like this in Sydney. Once every 10 years up in the far-north but zilch where we are so it's kinda like being in a Nat Geo Doco as long as that falling tree keeps it's distance, we're good.

When I first started, I used a Yamaha mixer with fx and recorded into a m-audio pci audio card. I loved it and do miss it.
