Yamaha XT250 Comprehensive Review and Light ADV build - best bike for BDR and moto camping?
Welcome to my comprehensive review of the Yamaha XT250, where I delve into whether or not this is the best bike for Backcountry Discovery Routes (BDR) and moto camping! Maybe it is great! Maybe it sucks! You'll have to watch and find out.
In this video, we cover:
Detailed XT250 Review: Performance, specs, and overall ride experience.
Light ADV Build: Custom modifications and accessories to enhance your adventure rides.
BDR and Moto Camping Performance: How it packs and performs from actual sections filmed on the BDR!
Chapters:
0:00 Intro
0:58 What is the BDR?
2:22 Specs that matter
2:44 where I'm coming from as a rider
4:00 great view
4:15 compromises
5:44 Backstory (Bike is from CO)
9:28 Handling/wind protection
11:23 low seat height benefits

20:36 Suspension
22:06 Top speed/power
29:00 Comparable bikes
30:20 Mods and Walkaround
39:33 How is it for BDR/Motocamping?
Why the XT250?The XT250 stands out for its versatility, durability, and performance, as well as light weight and low seat height. But, is it too small for big miles and BDR riding?

Riding the PCH on a Motorcycle - Versys 650 - places to stay and eat in California on a budget
มุมมอง 4127 หลายเดือนก่อน
I rented a bike on Twisted Road- my first time using a motorcycle rental website. In this video I talk about how the Versys 650 does for this kind of trip, and some great places to stay for the night and eat on a budget. Riding the Pacific Coast Highway is a bucket list ride, I highly recommend it to anyone! 0:00 Intro 0:36 Day 1 - LA 16:12 Day 2 Santa Monica to Morro Bay 30:57 Morro Bay to LA

I know I already previously uploaded this, but I wanted to make a few changes so here is the new one. The main video should be coming out this week, it is all finished and is just uploading. Also on the horizon- a more comprehensive Versys 650 review as well as an XT250 review plus ADV build/mods list!
Honda Africa Twin 1 year honest review - mods, problems, am I keeping it?
มุมมอง 36K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
This bike has been complicated to say the least. While it has so many good things going for it, there have also been problems...including warranty work. Is it worth keeping? Where does it really shine? Let's find out! Budget Motorcycle Boots from Amazon - Worth it or waste of Money? O’Neal Rider Boots honest review
มุมมอง 2.6K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we're looking at the O'Neal Rider boots. They have some of the most reviews on Amazon and at about $120, the might be a good deal. We'll look at build quality, comfort and fit, and see if they hold up to dual sport and adventure riding.
Riding the Yamaha XT250 to a Giant Volcano in the Desert - Cabezon Peak, NM
มุมมอง 45910 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi guys, thanks for joining me for my first video! Today I am headed to Cabezon Peak, it is a giant volcanic plug in the middle of the desert. I am taking the backway there, I've never gone this way and made it all the way through, I have to say it was pretty great. I highly recommend taking this route if your vehicle is capable off road, but regardless, you should check out the peak since you ...
Been researching small dual Bikes for a year now , the TW200 and XT250 been leaning toward the TW200 but lately I think the XT250 will suite me better, your review of the XT 250 and Accessories was fantastic and I Feel even more sure now about the XT 250, and I hope you keep making more Video, Thanks Again
I used to use hippo hands in OK . I am thinking about foot boards aluminum with rubber cover that might help your shifter prob.
Here in Thailand most roads are concrete slabs so not much better than gravel . I was thinking dual sport but found a CB 300f used , also considering eliminator . Got teen girls .
Wow what an informative and high quality video. Very balanced yet candid in your viewpoints. I have a TW200 and it doesn’t have enough speed for highways when I have to go on them between trails. I am looking at the XT250 or the Honda CRF 300L. Do you have an opinion about the CRF300L?
Hi great review, I am interested in a reliable ADV Bike after having 45,000 on my Multistrada. I love long tours leaving Colorado to visit MT or ID, where there are very few Ducati dealers if something goes wrong. So my question is where did you buy the 5 year Extended Warranty from!? Thank you in advance.
That screen load time is ridiculous!!! Imagine Honda did that in a car!
Great video Patrick...my name is Patrick also and live south of Albuquerque... there are so many trails in the center part of New Mexico... gonna buy either a klx300 od xt250 soon... maybe I'll see you on the trails sometime.
How easy is it to remove the tank bag when refueling? Great vid; thanks!
Great video brother 👌
Thank you. One of the most pragmatic review and vlog about the XT250 I have come across.
Thank you so much for a genuine hands on riding experience review and great advice. I’m 68 years and learning to ride back co7ntry with help from my sons. Cheers!
How is the TFT in the rain? Is it waterproof? I think I’m gonna go after the AS model. I have the Rebel 1100T. The DCT is so smooth. Same power plant as the AT. No issues with cruise
I have that same jacket.
Put stock foot pegs on and the shifter will work fine with your boots. Common problem when guys put running board sized foot pegs on a dirt bike...
Great informative video! I picked up a 2024 Africa Twin DCT ES (traded my 2018 for it) on Friday (9/27/24), and I love it. It is my third Africa Twin that I've owned. I also have a KTM 1290 SAR, and a Vulcan Voyager, but I am getting rid of the KTM, because the AT does everything I need. My only problem is that the US models of the AT no longer come with crash bars and center stands, etc. like the previous ones, so that added another 3K. It may have been 3K more anyway with those accessories, but its just the hassle and waiting for them to come in. By the way, I am in Albuquerque too.
There are many Trail wing tires the 301/302 are not name sakes. For how long they last and the traction they are great! I’ve done it all snow rain mud sand road and I continue to buy these.
This guy is selling this bike on face book can’t be that good of a bike
Need some more Videos
Nice review....thanks. My wife and I have been dual sporting for almost 15 years and here little Honda 230 has finally given up. I'm looking at the XT as a replacement and your perspectives were very useful. Now I just need to find one for sale. :)
I’ve traveled this road hundreds of times I’m one of those guys out there shooting two times a month on Saturday. I take my two young boys the whole reason I wanna buy Yamaha 250 so that I can explore that more. Your channel is pushing me over the edge to go get one live in Bernalillo, there’s so many options. I didn’t know if the 250 had enough power to do what I wanted to. I think you made me a believer. After I caught my wife with another man I’m trying to recover the things. I love as a young kid and she took away from me wouldn’t let me do riding shooting and camping. I think I’m gonna be binge watch this channel.
I can't imagine why you don't have more subscribers. (I am.) You are an excellent, well organized reviewer sharing clear, justified opinions.

Omg.. any gasoline ⛽️ is better than .. ZERO GAS or you’d still be sitting there today.. Douche LoL 😂
Thank you so much for that excellent presentation. You covered a lot of real-world issues. I'm currently looking for an adventure style bike as my wrists are hurting riding my VFR 800 ( and that's with bar risers 😢). I have narrowed my next bike to the AT or Suzuki's 1050 DE and will not touch anything European ( even though I live there) as there are too many reliability issues with their overly complicated tech.....which you definitely don't want in remote areas. Greetings from Ireland.😊
I have been racing and riding for 50 years. I got this bike mainly for hitch carrying behind an RV. It has served so many purposes beyond that! Great review. I like the low seat height for tooling around town. I had a street legal WR250 in the past but it was way too tall. I have had a DR650 and enjoyed the extra power however that comes at a cost: Money and extra Lbs.
Got a 2023 XT250..love it. Looking for better off road. Tires especially on front steer tire
The revolver shifter is Really Good. I thought the stock shifter was too short. Not sure how high the revolver would go. But, it gives you more room for your boots.
Just found your channel, and am really enjoying your videos! Excellent commentary, editing and videography. Looking forward to more.
This was a very good video: very sound advice, well delivered with interesting visuals. Thank you from Oz.
Excellent video, thank you!
I just got a base 24 AT. I am loving it so far. Only have 200 miles to date.
Fantastic video, Loved the content and your simple way of narrating I found very entertaining,
Look the reason I’m about to buy 1 is also because i love Scooters. I have a Harley to which i love but the DCT is truly amazing
nice one mate! which exhaust have you got?
Small bikes are the best! I went through a similar evolution. I still have my XT250!
As a CO resident, I really appreciate your commentary as a fellow XT250 owner. Ignore the haters. For the record, I've owned a K650, GS800, GS310, TW200, and ultimately settled on this bike as the perfect one. If it's good enough for Rambo, it's good enough for me!
Thanks for the informative and great video. Definitely know what to purchase now. I do have one clarification question though. Do you pair the headset to the phone or to the bike? And if you pair it to the bike you get all your Android auto functions through the headset?
Nice review. Appreciate your honest thoughts!

With only 168 now 169 subscribers, you have excellent editing. You might be a little harsh on the $100 boot as buckles can be replaced. Replace the buckle, break them in, and give an update in 6 months. Obviously, there are better boots. Some just can't afford the best but still want to be protected. If the buckles break while riding, that would be an issue.
And, do you have other boots models?
Awesome video! But, doesnt recomend just Be cause of the buckle? And what else ?
grt vid what kind of white crash bars you got?
outback motortek!
@@AdventureMotoSouthwest v nice- stout- since I messaged- I tracked down the bar: company/ out of stock -, What did u pay? I have 24 adv sport/ manual/,
I just really don’t get the point of DCT on this type of bike. Even when people talk about why they like it, all they really say is “it’s great and every time it’s not you can override it” Almost everything people who like it talk about is compensating for it. At best, it’s better in stop and go traffic. That’s about it.
Was enjoying your video until the Tinkerbell soundtrack got to me quarter of the way through..just saying☺️
Man, you are way too reasonable and content..... you must do mods, spend BIG money, push it to the XXXXXXTreme!!!!! Great vid. Probably buying a XT250 for my wife soon and I just know I'm gonna like it too much!
haha! hope you ended up getting the XT for her!
Just buy two xt 250s!No regrets! I’ve been riding and raced motocross since 1969 and I love the xt for adv riding!
Dude, what the heck are you carrying that you need all that luggage?
4 days of camping gear, food, clothing for riding the BDR!
