Tonight's sunset 11/23/24 I went out on the XT250 to go fly the drone tonight. This is just a little something I put together as I was testing out some new settings. Location is the border of the Corrales/Rio Rancho Bosque. Some changes have happened in the garage! I hopefully will be resuming posting more as I am entering my main riding season of winter here in New Mexico.

Budget Motorcycle Boots from Amazon - Worth it or waste of Money? O’Neal Rider Boots honest review

Today we're looking at the O'Neal Rider boots. They have some of the most reviews on Amazon and at about $120, the might be a good deal. We'll look at build quality, comfort and fit, and see if they hold up to dual sport and adventure riding.
Riding the Yamaha XT250 to a Giant Volcano in the Desert - Cabezon Peak, NM
มุมมอง 553ปีที่แล้ว
Hi guys, thanks for joining me for my first video! Today I am headed to Cabezon Peak, it is a giant volcanic plug in the middle of the desert. I am taking the backway there, I've never gone this way and made it all the way through, I have to say it was pretty great. I highly recommend taking this route if your vehicle is capable off road, but regardless, you should check out the peak since you ...
mines held up for a decent bit have had since april 2024
Hey, bro awesome video. What exhaust is on the Versys ?
Jornada del Muerto. Nice video. Cool to see an XT250 in action.
Great review, very informative, thanks for posting
Was that the stock trailwing I saw on the back? I think they are underated.
Really good review. One of the best (of many) that I’ve seen on the AT. You deserve way more subs-good luck!
Well I just discovered the New KPX250 Lifan got one on black friday sale the quality is as good as the Yamaha and has many more options at almost half the cost all in all in my opion the KPX250 is a superior dual sport all around . Please comment your view of this deal . I live 12 min away from there warehouse and they stock lots of parts and bikes and toys stack to the roof .
Love that area and can't get out there enough!! Just wish Pipeline from Rio Rancho wasn't blocked by some Zia? Pueblo land, since that would make a much nicer ride than 550. You mentioned having a couple issues with your Africa Twin, so I'm curious if you've ever test ridden a GS (1250 or 1300)? I got mine three years ago and I'm still trying to find something wrong with it 🤔😉😄
When did you do this ride? Before November I'm guessing!
correct! June 👍
Great video! What month did you ride this?
thanks! June, which is a good time to go to avoid July monsoons
I bought a pair of these as my first set of off-road boots. Once they break in, they are decent in terms of articulation and comfort. The tread on the bottom is one of my favorite things about them. They have really good grip on the pegs and off the bike when you need to get off and push. Alas, I did have an issue with a strap breaking on me when putting them on after owning them for several months and riding in them frequently. For $120 I think they are worth it. Wouldn’t pay more especially since you can get much better boots on sale.
Great video. thanks for sharing. I'm glad you talked about how tiering some of Section 4 is, I told my friends I would not do it again, and I was on a CRF 250 when I did it.
Yes, agreed! Either avoid, or split into 2 days maybe.
I’ve owned at least 14 motorcycles. I recently sold my Suzuki V-strom and purchased a GS 1200 since I don’t do the desert riding that I used to the GS is a whole new level of performance when you start cornering and touring I had my doubts until I got one.
Fantastically produced, I love the commentary and the information about the bikes and set up all terrific. Even the music was good. Looking forward to more.
Thank you, I appreciate you!
Such an awesome trip! Glad I got to be part of it!
fun times!!
It took 17 seconds for yours to power up lol people will find anything to bitch about, the 2024 is much quicker. I've never had the other problems on my 2024
Great little bike. Lots to be said for a light little bike once you’re in the backroads and tracks - highways, not so much 🙂
A life time ago I raced a Husqvarna. After I gave that up I predominantly rode street bikes, preferably Triumph's. A few years ago and after seeing all the vids on riding the passes in CO I decided I needed a dual sport or adventure bike, I'm 5'8" 185 so there isn't a adventure bike that I'd take as a gift, I need to be able to touch some terra firma! While looking at some KTM's the salesman said I needed to look at the XT, shorty after that I bought a 2024 XT. I love the thing, I'm over 70 now so I have nothing to prove to anyone, it goes fast enough on the pavement(I can comfortably ride at 70mph) its around 300 lbs so I can easily pick it up, I've had it out in CO this past fall and rode Ophir, Webster, Cinnamon .....passes, Black Bear and Imogene were closed but I'd of taken it there as well. A few years ago I rode BB on a KTM and there was a guy doing it on the TW200, he had no problem and that bike is a bit slower, less powerful then the XT. I wish the XT had as much horse power as the WR250 but the seat height on that bike is 4-5" higher so that's out. I took my bike with no mod's, everything stock and rode some intense passes in CO and had no problem, enough HP, enough clearance, the bike did everything I wanted or needed. It'd be tough to keep up with the Adventure riders because most of those guys are on 6-7 or even 11-1200cc bikes and they can hit the pavement a lot faster then I can but I didn't get this bike to see if I could keep up with bikes on the hardtop. The XT has a reputation for being bullit proof and I don't have time to work on a bike, its probably not built for a guy over 6', I can see where it would get a bit cramped but the seat height is great for short people. I doubt there's a better bike for someone like me that's not looking to set the world on fire anymore but just out to have a good time. I enjoyed your vid and your review of the bike, also showed me some potential riding places! Thanks and just a PS, couldn't you adjust that shifter where it mounts to the transfer case counterclockwise, seems like that would force the shifter lever upwards, just a suggestion, might not be possible but.......
I just sold my Yamaha TW200 and am looking to get an XT250. I live at the start of Section One of the Arizona BDR near Bisbee. If you're ever this way, bring the bike, and I'll give you a tour of my backyard. I've been wanting to make a trip on my Harley to Silver City as it's only three hours away. I'm normally traveling west, but your videos are making me consider going east for a change.
My last bike was a 2017 Kawasaki Versys 1000 and I just traded it in for a 2024 Honda Africa Twin ES DCT. So far I love the upgrade. And I hear you re the regular unleaded option for the AT. Its absurd that so few modern bikes will allow regular unleaded gas. And the motor on the new 2024 flat out rips. From 0-75 the AT feels stronger than my old Versys 1000 and the torque is significantly stronger. Lastly, the DCT is heavenly (and I was a skeptic until I was convinced by so many who said once you ride it you'll never regret the decision. I am here to tell you that I concur w/ that sentiment.) Oh, and nice vid!
Its a dual sport not an adv
Great review! I’m between tiger gt/rally pro and africa es. Any helpful advice that could help with a decision?
Giday, best xt review I've seen on YT. What model is yours, sorry if I missed it. A lot of shorter people have long bodies and shorter legs, and I have to say the first thing most look for is the seat height, I'm not a novice rider, but I still prefer to be able to stand, not flat footed but a descent tread, I want to be able to hold the bike comfortably. The Yamaha xt235 xt250 and xt 350 have been very reliable machines for many years, glad Yamaha have kept manufacturing them except the 350cc shame that. Thanks for sharing really enjoyed it. I'm looking at the C.f. 450mt, really impressed with that bike, lots of my friends have them, had a quick ride an oh yeah something Special. 🇦🇺🤙💯
Very good. My Wife was born in Reserve and grew ip in Luna Maden name Derrick.. Wonderful country. I have a 2024 XT 250 I bought new late 2023. Good bike does everything I want it to. it will run all day long at 70 plus and hills don't bother it at the least, one thing I run straight Gasoline non ethanol. Been riding since I was eight years old I am 70 now, but still enjoy riding the trails into the mountians mainly to day camp setup my portable Ham radio QRP operation and have fun relaxing making CW contacts. Good video, thank's.
Been researching small dual Bikes for a year now , the TW200 and XT250 been leaning toward the TW200 but lately I think the XT250 will suite me better, your review of the XT 250 and Accessories was fantastic and I Feel even more sure now about the XT 250, and I hope you keep making more Video, Thanks Again
I used to use hippo hands in OK . I am thinking about foot boards aluminum with rubber cover that might help your shifter prob.
Here in Thailand most roads are concrete slabs so not much better than gravel . I was thinking dual sport but found a CB 300f used , also considering eliminator . Got teen girls .
Wow what an informative and high quality video. Very balanced yet candid in your viewpoints. I have a TW200 and it doesn’t have enough speed for highways when I have to go on them between trails. I am looking at the XT250 or the Honda CRF 300L. Do you have an opinion about the CRF300L?
300 l has very soft suspension. The rally version i dont like. The fairing and all is way too big for the bike. The standard l version is the best. However i got the kawa klx 300, way better suspension with all the same pros as the 300L.
Hi great review, I am interested in a reliable ADV Bike after having 45,000 on my Multistrada. I love long tours leaving Colorado to visit MT or ID, where there are very few Ducati dealers if something goes wrong. So my question is where did you buy the 5 year Extended Warranty from!? Thank you in advance.
That screen load time is ridiculous!!! Imagine Honda did that in a car!
Great video Patrick...my name is Patrick also and live south of Albuquerque... there are so many trails in the center part of New Mexico... gonna buy either a klx300 od xt250 soon... maybe I'll see you on the trails sometime.
How easy is it to remove the tank bag when refueling? Great vid; thanks!
Great video brother 👌
Thank you. One of the most pragmatic review and vlog about the XT250 I have come across.
Thank you so much for a genuine hands on riding experience review and great advice. I’m 68 years and learning to ride back co7ntry with help from my sons. Cheers!
How is the TFT in the rain? Is it waterproof? I think I’m gonna go after the AS model. I have the Rebel 1100T. The DCT is so smooth. Same power plant as the AT. No issues with cruise
I have that same jacket.
Put stock foot pegs on and the shifter will work fine with your boots. Common problem when guys put running board sized foot pegs on a dirt bike...
Great informative video! I picked up a 2024 Africa Twin DCT ES (traded my 2018 for it) on Friday (9/27/24), and I love it. It is my third Africa Twin that I've owned. I also have a KTM 1290 SAR, and a Vulcan Voyager, but I am getting rid of the KTM, because the AT does everything I need. My only problem is that the US models of the AT no longer come with crash bars and center stands, etc. like the previous ones, so that added another 3K. It may have been 3K more anyway with those accessories, but its just the hassle and waiting for them to come in. By the way, I am in Albuquerque too.
There are many Trail wing tires the 301/302 are not name sakes. For how long they last and the traction they are great! I’ve done it all snow rain mud sand road and I continue to buy these.
This guy is selling this bike on face book can’t be that good of a bike
Need some more Videos
Nice review....thanks. My wife and I have been dual sporting for almost 15 years and here little Honda 230 has finally given up. I'm looking at the XT as a replacement and your perspectives were very useful. Now I just need to find one for sale. :)
I’ve traveled this road hundreds of times I’m one of those guys out there shooting two times a month on Saturday. I take my two young boys the whole reason I wanna buy Yamaha 250 so that I can explore that more. Your channel is pushing me over the edge to go get one live in Bernalillo, there’s so many options. I didn’t know if the 250 had enough power to do what I wanted to. I think you made me a believer. After I caught my wife with another man I’m trying to recover the things. I love as a young kid and she took away from me wouldn’t let me do riding shooting and camping. I think I’m gonna be binge watch this channel.
I can't imagine why you don't have more subscribers. (I am.) You are an excellent, well organized reviewer sharing clear, justified opinions.

Omg.. any gasoline ⛽️ is better than .. ZERO GAS or you’d still be sitting there today.. Douche LoL 😂
Thank you so much for that excellent presentation. You covered a lot of real-world issues. I'm currently looking for an adventure style bike as my wrists are hurting riding my VFR 800 ( and that's with bar risers 😢). I have narrowed my next bike to the AT or Suzuki's 1050 DE and will not touch anything European ( even though I live there) as there are too many reliability issues with their overly complicated tech.....which you definitely don't want in remote areas. Greetings from Ireland.😊
I have been racing and riding for 50 years. I got this bike mainly for hitch carrying behind an RV. It has served so many purposes beyond that! Great review. I like the low seat height for tooling around town. I had a street legal WR250 in the past but it was way too tall. I have had a DR650 and enjoyed the extra power however that comes at a cost: Money and extra Lbs.
Got a 2023 XT250..love it. Looking for better off road. Tires especially on front steer tire
