The Weatherman Was Wrong Again...

By no surprise, the weatherman was wrong again. Thought we were in for a week of dry when the clouds opened up and poured like no tomorrow. Trying to salvage what we can and make the best out of it and get some hay baled!

“I’ll pull em back out, hopefully they don’t tear em up” 1000% those cows tore those round bales up 😂😂
Haha I mean, you’d be surprised.
Thanks for sharing! Does the band fall off with the sack?
Yes
Did you have to cut the perlin brackets off each end?
Been awhile and can’t remember for sure, but I want to say all of those are the same, so I would have had to cut them off on the end hoops.
This is perfect for us as we are just doing two a year
Awesome!
Did you say you put lime down or is that sand in your pens?
I used ag lime. Works really well if it’s wet and you pack it down really tight with a packer. I redid the stalls last fall and since I packed it down really tight I haven’t had any issues and have had calves In it all winter. I’ve started putting rubber mats down as well just to make add an extra layer of durability
Nothing like turning dirt, I remember doing that for days at a time. Mostly all pastures now.
It was definitely enjoyable.
What size hoop barn is this? Looks great!
32’x72’. Thanks! I finally got the metal up on the end so looks better now!
@@mklivestock1020 do an update bro I'd love to see more of it
Please reconsider using this due to the possibility of chemicals from the tire leaching into the water, especially when exposed to heat and sunlight 😬 Wire ingested by cattle from the tire can also lead to the potentially fatal hardware disease. The wire can also cut or poke the cattle.
Whats the cost for a almost 2200 sqft barn like this ?? Wood , tarp , steel sheet and steel tubing ?
Not sure what it is now, things have gone up a lot since I’ve done it. Depends on if you do the work yourself or have it contracted out. Be best to contact someone who sales them.
aaaaannnndd
Perty cool
You have done a great job of showing use and well done on updates. Very useful thank you
Thank you!
Its been a year and I was curious how your hoop barn is working? I am thinking of getting a 50x84 for a riding arena.
Doing really good
@@mklivestock1020 that's awesome!
How much did it cost you for the kit?
It was around $6500 but I’m sure has gone up since then
Super nice
Thanks!
What stops his kicks from landing on you?
I just keep my distance enough, been around em all my life so I’ve gotten used to what the limits are. I really would like to upgrade to a good squeeze chute but it’ll come in time.
How is your hoop barn holding up? I'm building a small one very similar(20x40). What did you attach your top horizontal 2x6s to the 6x6s with ? Lag bolts ? Does it hold up to snow and wind pretty well?
It is doing good! And yes lag bolts. It has held up great to the snow and wind. We had a really windy and stormy spring and it has held right in.
Colt, hope you have been doing good. wanted to ask a question. Who did you buy your hoop barn from.
Doing good! Hope you are as well! I bought mine from Kentucky hoop barns. I’m not sure who they go through though that would be the main company that might distribute out to other parts.
I have run out of hay space in my operation and need somewhere to store more hay. Thanks.@@mklivestock1020
Is that 1086 your only tractor lot of horsepower for that haybine
For now it is, would rather have enough horsepower to do whatever I need and handle whatever I upgrade to in the future.
@@mklivestock1020 understand have one for now that can do it all
Where i can buy

Husband trouble?
The weather people are the same way around here if they say it's not going to rain it will rain
Sure am glad Im not the only one with crows nests in the baler.
😂
What size are the boards
2x6x12
Good work
Thanks!
Thank you! I’m getting ready to use one on my six month old bull today. Really appreciate watching you use the product, and your review 😊
Thank you!
How did it go?
You know if you keep staring at it the longer it will take to get it fixed
Sometimes it works sometimes it don’t.
The idea is not to break your equipment that way you don’t have to fix it every time you want to use it
Never seemed to grasp that concept.
Hope you get some more hay. Itchy is not an option in the haying business. Have a great week.
If the rain doesn’t shut off should be a good second cut. Have a great week as well!
Nice jee 💯💯 video
Getting it done. Good luck with your 2023 haying season
Thank you, you as well!
How did this work this winter? Can we get an update on it?
Worked really good, I’ll try to add an update into one of the next videos!
You can check that chore off the list. I guess it can’t all be fun. How’s the hoop barn do in the wind? Based off your hoop barn videos, I’m planning to do the same this year. I just need to get a hold of Kentucky Hoop Barns and get that going.
It has done good. Just make sure those posts get put in the ground far enough and concreted good. I’ve heard of some having issues with shifting because whoever put them up didn’t set the posts good enough.
@@mklivestock1020 Right on buddy. Don’t work too hard.
Thank you for this.
No problem, thanks for watching!
Not sure what I was looking at for this to be in my recommended but I'm here for it
😂
This is wild
Was it a kit? Where did you get it?
Mine came from Kentucky Hoop barns. There’s several companies that have them across the U.S. it came with all of the metal hoops and hardware and the canvas. They’re available in pretty much any size that you want.
Nice video! Whoever invented the reel on that mower must have felt darn clever
For sure, it’s a pretty good design for it!
Good jee
Thanks!
I like the feed trough you made out of the culvert. Is it bolted to the tires?
Thanks! Yeah there are just 2 bolts running down into each one and then I drilled a 2” hole in the bottom sidewall to keep the tire from holding water
I don't envy you in that weather. It is hard farming in winter! I am anti-cold and will only farm in the South!
This man's got a good number of toys. He's living the American Dream.
Good jee video
don't stop posting my boy!!
Nice looking heifers
Thanks Kevin!
I just found your channel and I’m impressed with your hoop barn. I particularly like how you elevated the sides to give you a section of straight wall and the jig you came up with to help position the hoops on top of the wall plate. How is the tarp roof performing? Do you think it be possible to use the type metal (as you used on the sides) to cover the roof in place of the tarp? Thanks for posting your building and happy holidays.
Thanks for watching! The tarp is good, it has a 15 year pro rated warranty on it so it’s built to last for a good amount. As far as using the metal in place of it, I don’t think it would would out. The tarp helps to hold everything together, and with the curvature im not sure how well it would bend around it, and you would also have to run more pieces down it to attach the metal to. Hope this helps!
Dang you are in knee deep snow and I am cutting and baling hay the day before and on Christmas day. Merry Christmas friend.
Wow that’s crazy! Merry Christmas!
Not having a shop to work in makes it hard doing everything outside,I'm in the same situation, trying to gather up the money to build a shop. Hang in there, thanks for the video. Butch Ashland Ohio
