Tommy Flanagan claimed to hate solo concerts and recordings (see the liner notes to his solo album "In His Own Sweet Time"), which is surprising given how good of a solo pianist he was. On "Sleepin' Bee", he's at his very best. I won't argue that solo piano was his true calling (it wasn't), but he was no slouch when solo. The evidence is on this album, "Solo Piano", plus "Alone Too Long" and "In His Own Sweet Time". And in a handful of solo tracks elsewhere in his discography.
