Guys... It is what it is, you can't do anything about it. Judges might to know what they've done and what might to be done better.... Grab your bike and go for ride instead of typing upset comments. This sport as any other should be about getting joy of it for most of us isn't it like that
I’ve got a bum knee and have been on the couch the last couple days, so thank you for the content! Cheers 🍻 from Tennessee
Brendog was the real winner of the even. He has gotten more press then anyone out of this. Always better to be the peoples champion. Rejects the Red Bull like a legend.
The format is bad. It is the corporate bullshit that ruins everything good. They run the numbers and tailwhips are sell the most redbull. Technical lines is what made Rampage rad. It is just a big air show now.
Absolutely we do. Rampage was founded as a freeride big mountain event that was meant to emphasize the most insane, risky and unique lines. Now it's a well groomed slopestyle event. Comparative to the ability of the riders, this new Rampage is boring. I find hardline is far more gnarly with it's tech and enjoyable to watch.
Imagine being bren in 10 years and looking back saying yeah I did all that 👌what a guy!!
Rampage needs to stop trying to be the biggest slopestyle event and concentrate on being what it was made to be..big mountain freeride…I’d rather see a run like Brendan’s where yes he made it look easy but somehow also looked like he was shitting his pants half the time lol over seeing someone flow down the mountain with the coolest tricks.
Thanks gents, this was a super valuable vid for me personally, appreciate it. All the best Anton 🤘
Great episode mates! Cheers 🍻 from Tennessee

@ just meaning they’ve obviously been listening to your ideas
I'm glad I'm not a judge.
Im down for bigger jumps, buff the landings and let them do their thing, but ban single crown forks. We have plenty of slopestyle comps and It will make runs slightly easier to judge.
sorry but this comment is straight up stupid. have you seen what singe crown bikes can do nowadays? a high travel enduro is basically a borderline downhill bike
Another sick discussion. Keen to check it all.
Thanks for having me buddy, good times 🗣️
Loved it. Thanks for opening up.
The judging has always been odd.
Tom is one of my favorite riders. He exudes the joy and commitment to self improvement that I admire. Always positive and never letting mistakes hamper the mood
It’s a shame to be commenting now after the end of the 2024 season knowing that Dak came so close to a win again 😓 can’t wait for the day it happens
I hear you.. Dak will break through...
This is not slope style. Where is the rampage ? Perfectly groomed lines with double back flips, no. We want raw, hardcore lines down a mountain.
Having a RedBull helmet on was the key to success…
Judges made the whole event a Sham.
Sven! Always good to hear what's on Sven's mind.
So what was the outcome of the fact checking of the timings of the scores?
"Scoring is just for place holding". So why bother with scores then? Why not just place the riders and their runs in their place compared with each other? The judges themselves say that the actual scores mean nothing.
In 2023 Brendog did 2 features that had never been run before, and the consequences of failing them would be death, no doubt about that. Thats free riding, thats exposure, that uniquness, that originallity, thats a complete build top to bottom. I doubt anybody would want to run those 2 features again. In 2024, again him and deeks and ollie produced a superb top to bottom unique line, technical, quirky, free ride, and again I doubt many people would want to try those features. The specators thought his score was crap, the commentators were bemused by the score, the audience at home were furious, and he scored 55% on redbull as rider of the day, more than ALL the other riders put together. Something is seriously wrong in the way rampage is judged. It seemed to me that the judges criteria is just made up on the spot while comparing this run to that run etc. Judging criteria should be published before hand, each judge should be capable of looking at a run and scoring it, period. They do this in all other sports, there is nothing special about rampage in that respect. I dont think Brens run was a winner, but top3 certainly, the judging was crap and needs to change. Hoa judge could ever say publically that Brendog made it look too easy !!!!!. That right you miserable judge he made it look too easy because he is fucking good. !!
FUK judges THEY DID IT AGAIN
To say none of the other riders could have rode BFs line is insulting. Dude built a tree drop in his backyard and thought that was training
Il feel like this way of judging makes no sense for a freeride event. They should let all riders go through their first run, then in the downtime judges take 30 minutes to rank the riders from first to last, and no bullshit score You can give score in slopestyle because everyone does the same line and jumps, but for Rampage it makes no sense.
Cam McCaul was a judge at Rampage so he is as much to blame.
This the real Steve Matthes ? Great to hear from you, unfortunately you are mis informed. Cam McCaul was an announcer, not a judge.
Rampage is pish everyone should have to build their own line
Always look forward to you announcing the event dude. Both you and Nicolai. This event has always been so amazing. Love to see the top 5 killing it and pushing the sport. Wishing zink the best and a quick recovery
Love having nice positive comment about Rampage. Much love
@MovingTheNeedlePodcast yaaaa. I usually don't comment, but with this year's event being hijacked and overshadowed, I figured it was time to start speaking up and spreading positve vibes. You all need to know thar there are many fans that still just love to see a great even. This year was arguably one of the best events thus far.
Brendog's run has only three tricks, judges don't like that, his line was mellowed out, drop was turned into chute, etc. He is been doing this for years and didn't change anything yet?
Ban Single Crowns from Rampage. Similar to car regulations in F1. Would help steer away from slopestyle
Judges always high on shrooms and pizza. The event and what it stands for needs to be defined and made clearer. Especially for the judges
Everyone's runs were awesome, I try to ignore the scores, and really focus on my own enjoyment of the event, had to learn this the hard way by being disappointed too many times with judging that was sketchy, now I literally don't care and only want to see epic runs regardless of scores.
Not just the internet, the entire crowd at the venue booed like a roman colosseum
Dude these Brendog suckers have got to chill. So obnoxious, going to ruin rampage for everyone. Dude didnt deserve first sorry, literally so annoying. Every year it’s always about how he should have won. Yes the judges are wack but dude Brendon didn’t even deserve top 3🤣 people use your brain, don’t be a robot. Think about the requirements for these tricks being thrown down. TVS should have won based on all previous rampages. And I didn’t even like that zink won last year because of how biased it looked.
Would love to see Greg at the Enduro World Cup!
Plain and simple. Is Rampage a slopestyle event or a Freeride event?
The canyon was over 50 foot (Brendan measured it in his vlogs to 49.8 foot to the sandbags), with a 3 foot by 6 foot landing.
Bren doesn't think he should have won as stated in his latest vlog (as of 10/20/24) with Ollie but 11th was just disgraceful. Even Semenuk didn't think he should have won based on his interview at the bottom. The judging and scoring need an overhaul.
you want the comment section to have respect? OK BREN DOG WAS FUKIN ROBBED!!!!!!!
hahah BRILLIANT.
Cam u sold ur freeride soul...sad! I hope some new real freeride event will emerge cos Rampage is no more
Lads, it's an easy fix. New site every year and 3 days digging in lines. No sandbags or 10ft trick Kickers. Just rowdy freeride DH like it was for the women who by the way were the real stars of this year's event..
People are pissed because we dont want smooth manicured shared lines that feel like slopestyle we also want consitant transparent judging
As someone that doesn't ride mountain bikes, it looked to me like Tom's front flip was right on the limits of what can or ever will be done. And front flips are so blind, and the rotation does not smooth the landing at all, rather it makes the pressure worse. The rebound when he landed causeed the bike to lift back off the ground again, bouncing around on those landings reduces control and you'd say they need the control back ASAP on landing those big tricks.
Sadly Rampage has became trick show and Brendog's run was the only run worthy of being a "freeride" run. Don't get me wrong in the context of the event it wasn't a podium run but 11th place is insane. & Semenuk 1st place? wow now that was a robbery..
WHY DO WOMEN GET SAME PRIZE PURSE???????? Smaller rider pool, less competition, less performance????
SOFT BIGOTRY OF LOW EXPECTATIONS Rampage is not supposed to be INCLUSIVE. The whole point is exclusivity for the most ELITE. Rampage should not be a participation event
comparison sport to rampage isle of man tt a lap is 37.73 miles (they do up to 6 laps) on closed public roads doing over 200 mph in places on a superbike the lap record is 136.358 or nearly 38 miles in 16 mins.35 seconds you get it wrong its street furniture ie stone walls houses/banks/lamposts week of practice and a week of racing and like rampage its once a year (yes there is the manx on the same course but the bikes are not the same )
