Thorough Examination is a mandatory check to ensure that the mechanical parts of your fork lift are in safe working order. It is required by law and must take place at regular intervals -- depending on the type of truck you're running. However, not all Thorough Examinations are the same, and some do not even cover the driving mechanisms of the truck -- nor its braking systems.

Consolidated Fork Truck Services (CFTS) is a joint venture between The British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) and The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA). These two major trade associations are the acknowledged experts on the manufacture, maintenance and safe operation of fork lift trucks. The CFTS inspection procedure is truly comprehensive - covering both lifting and driving mechanisms -- and was developed in close association with the Health and Safety Executive, to provide a national, agreed standard covered by a single "kite mark".
