How to make Polaroid emulsion lift triptych prints
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In November 2020 I recieved a Royal Photographic Society Fellowship for a portfolio of Polaroid emsulsion lift triptych prints of seascapes. This video show the process of making these prints. There is a full articles describing the process in detail on my website: cjo.info/polaroid/how-to-make-polaroid-emulsion-lift-triptych-prints/ And you can see the full FRPS portfolio here: cjo.info/polaro...

SX-70 Emulsion Lift
มุมมอง 5K13 ปีที่แล้ว
This video shows how to make a Polaroid emulsion lift print using POlaroid SX-70 film. I used following equipment during this video: - A Polaroid print shot on SX-70 TZ Artistic film - A sharp craft knife and cutting mat - Two trays for water - A kettle for heating water (I use a Bosch Styline TWK8633GB because it lets you heat water to specific temperatures) - An Impossible Lift It! Brush set ...

I have some decades old poloroids, but I'm guessing this will only work on newer film?

You're should have been a surgeon ;) I need more patience. Have you found any recent i-Type film to have good chemistry?

Is there only a specific type of Polaroid film this works with because sx-70 breaks unless you wait about 2 days after taking the image when you’re splitting it from the black layer… typically u have to wait at least 2 days to do an emulsion lift from when the image is taken with sx-70. Is this i-type specific?

Can you use any Polaroid? Did you find one more successful?

Just found one of these but the shutter dial won’t turn. Any ideas?

@HollySPhotography 1. Yes the trays are just simple plastic trays. 2. The size and type of brush isn't crucial. Any soft brush about 5-10mm wide will do. A very wide/soft brush is good for smoothing the emulsion layer on the paper and a small pointed brush for repairing tears. But while useful they're optional. 3. The emulsion layer expands in the water so use a piece of paper at least 8cm bigger than the Polaroid print. Any water colour paper is good. Try different types for different effects.

Unfortunately no, you can't do this with Spectra photos... I have tried! The emulsion layer seems to adhere much more strongly to the sheet of mylar. It also seems to be much thinner, so even if you could get it off I suspect it would be to thin and delicate to get onto your receiving paper in one piece.

very cool and fast explanation! :) Thanks... do you think it's possible to make the emulsion lift with polaroid spectra image 1200?
